There’s this one guy I’ve seen on Instagram reels straight up speeding on their motorcycle at like >100kph getting millions and views and likes… I always just imagine they’re about to shit themselves and get out of their way.. if it comes close to a wreck I’ll honk but ik they don’t care. I used to do that on a motorbike. They are just so small that it’s easy to go around the cars if you want to. Never recklessly or too fast, which is why I’m here typing this; I always assumed every driver was pissed drunk, legally blind and about to change lanes without signalling.

I swear if I stayed on the path I was on just a few years ago, I would probably be in jail right now or at least wanted, I’m serious when I say I was damn near “in that life” and I can say The only people I’ve ever seen drive like that are the pieces of s*** I used to know who are all criminals and/or shitty now or people who seem just like them

I can notice and name the brand and model of every car on the highway I pass, and generally can understand and see lane switches before people make them. Always be aware of your surroundings, for multiple reasons. I had to drive about an hour to work (roadwork made it longer it would’ve only been 30 min otherwise) at 4 am to get to work at 5am. Honestly I just didn’t realize I was speeding. Road was empty, I’m just trying to get to work and listening to my music, and suddenly I’m going 110 in a 75. Last month, college students nearby were going 124mph in a 45 racing another car. Intoxicated. As you can guess, it very sadly ended a young girl’s life. So many lives ruined because of this selfish, reckless behavior. I even had an asshat pass multiple cars at once on a windy country road today, barely missing getting hit. Speeding, drinking and driving, texting and driving, etc… not worth it. Stop being asshats. Cars are just too fast now. So every morning, my alarm goes off at 6:00 and 6:15 and 6:30 and 6:45 and 7:00, 7:15, 7:30, 8:00. I’m from Chicago and I have places to be and people don’t understand merging!! I’m glad I U turned but it ended up adding 30 minutes to my usual 45 minutes. I was so mad.
Not going to lie… It was fun. But then again I literally had a race car before I had my license (back then there wasn’t options for teens to race like there are today) . Well driving fast on open roads was really romanticized to me. So when the threat of losing that race car was not a concern, I convinced a two buddies to try a cannonball. We did a lot of research making sure it was the safest we could be, selecting a time of the year when construction was typically less and traffic was also typically less, we planned routes around known construction, then loaded up and headed to new York. And no it wasn’t with the roadrunner. We left midnight to avoid as much traffic as possible. Had friends with CB’s along the route planned to be ahead of us to inform us of congestion and other issues. We didn’t set any records (didn’t miss it by much)…. But we made it to LA, and it was a hell of a lot of fun… enough to try it again.
These days I rarely push over 80 (speed limit is 75 here). I only ever did triple digits once just to kinda get a thrill from it on the interstate when it was nighttime. I was in a rental car, so I just went for it on the passing lane. There wasn’t much of any traffic, so it was mostly just me and maybe 1 or 2 cars here and there, but the car started shaking a bit, once it got up to a higher speed past 130mph so I decided to stop afterwards. Once that dopamine went away and the realization kinda set in I felt really bad about it I did it just for the thrill and not necessarily to be an asshole to anybody but still kinda stupid on my part since I could easily end up killing myself if I make a mistake

People honk at me for stopping at stop signs and coming to a slow stop, but if I don’t stop slowly then the oxygen tank is likely to fall down. No thanks I choose life. I’ll drive 90-100+ but the roads gotta be open and it just do it because I like to go fast in my fast shit but I’ll never do it weaving in and out of traffic. If I’m going to be irresponsible and drive that fast I won’t put other peoples safety at risk so I make sure the road is wide open.
