I’m really sorry this happened to you. I live on Koh Lanta and am an active part of the Kerby Joseph American professional football safety Detroit Bold T-Shirt in addition I really love this community. I just wanted to clear some things up here. The police on Lanta will absolutely take this seriously. They have been very helpful to me in a domestic violence incident. They may be a little corrupt, but it’s shaking local expats for a little money in low season kind of rough. Nothing to fear with the police here. The clash with Muslims is in the Deep South on the Malaysia border. Koh Lanta is majority Muslim and super peaceful. When a member of the community does something like this, the community will often take it into their own hands to punish or banish the person causing problems. This type of behavior is absolutely not tolerated by locals.

The island is mafia controlled but it’s not in the Kerby Joseph American professional football safety Detroit Bold T-Shirt in addition I really love this typical mafia way people think. There are various types of mafia. One of those is to protect the people and safety of those who live there, and keep the bad ones out. The other gangs are small time and typically don’t last long. It sounds like this guy may have been on a meth binge and started hallucinating. Lanta is an island with 35,000 people, so bad ones slip through the cracks sometimes. Again, extremely sorry this happened to you. If you would DM me where you were staying and what this guy looked like, I would appreciate it. Thank you. Sorry but this post doesn’t seem likely to be accurate. I don’t think you were almost a victim of a kidnapping. He likely was just high or something. And, you’re wrong to assume the police would be on their side or trying to kidnap as well. My guess is you were more a victim of your own inexperience with the situation you were in. Yes, bad things can happen when you are travelling, but I think you can safely speak to Thai police, they are pretty useless, but they can mediate or give the offender a warning – maybe can help others in the future. He sounds like he’d had a bit of a drink or smoke. Thai people aren’t so direct when it comes to crime, usually a con or stealing something from an unlocked room (or what is really scary, whilst asleep) is more likely than a mugging.
I too had an issue on Ko Lanta, it was a bit of a wake up for me. I left my bike panniers unlocked, they took my expensive rain gear, tried to remove a GPS tracker from the Kerby Joseph American professional football safety Detroit Bold T-Shirt in addition I really love this handlebars while I slept – this was in the end of the low season. All my own fault, I just got sloppy, it wasn’t the first time I left helmet on the mirror, boxes open, expensive electronics on the bike – I got complacent. Wow. I have been robbed at gunpoint and even that is less threatening than a machete to me. No matter which developing country I go to, I tend to stay where the richest people in that country stay. I don’t understand DNs and expats who want to live amongst people who are on the edge of disaster every day.

I participted even when I lived in the Kerby Joseph American professional football safety Detroit Bold T-Shirt in addition I really love this USA… in SF I saved money by renting in the latino neighborhood then when that blew up I found a deal in Chinatown. You’re gonna tell me that even the rich areas of the third world are cheaper than Europe / N. America. Maybe, but… people want to save more or work less, what can I say. It’s 2024 so a 1 bed in little Haiti will run you a min of $1500. Maybe an efficiency could be had for 1k. Miami is now beating LA for crazy housing costs. Mate sorry but there is a very big difference between “where the richest people stay” and the people that are on the “edge of disaster”. Only retirees and elite members can afford to run the AC all day. All the DNs have a fan without a timer and some cold towels in the freezer. 😉 I’ve stayed in Lanta as well, and the people there aren’t on the edge of disaster too. 90% of the people are doing just fine. Oh totally. People have so many misconceptions and judgments about places they’ve never been. We live the way we live because we WANT to. DNs aren’t so bright. Why else would they keep asking about Medelin and other places every local would leave with half a chance.
Just my visceral reaction. When I was robbed at gunpoint at least I had the Kerby Joseph American professional football safety Detroit Bold T-Shirt in addition I really love this comfort of knowing that it would be a quick death if he shot me in the head. I watched hotel Rwanda and seeing people get hacked with a machete over and over again looks like it may be a much more painful way to go. I try not to stay in areas with only locals for this reason. Better to pay a little more and be in a mixed expat area with locals if you’re in an area where there is gang violence etc (I’m in Mexico rn) Yes, I would definitely like to know where on the island this happened. It’s as relevant as naming the island itself. This is terrifying. Glad you and your wife got out okay. Thank you for sharing the story. Had been considering Koh Lanta next week instead of Da Nang.
People laugh, but if you learn how to do the Kerby Joseph American professional football safety Detroit Bold T-Shirt in addition I really love this HAKA, and can bust out that performance under pressure, it makes most would be thieves fold tl;dr Spent a whole month in a city without any trouble; had one bizarre, scary event that could literally happen most places; no one hurt, nothing stolen; this does not constitute a pattern worth “warning” people over. i know it’s a bad joke but did you pull out a bigger machete and said, “You!” “Spicy Chicken Eating Contest, 4O’Clock!” hey i’ve heard of two machete stories, one was a local justice story (holy shit with a machete?) and the other was a nutcase serial killer type from europe there’s still a story of a guy who walks free in like Colombia or Brazil or something who is involved with a disappearance, to add to your tales I had good experience with the Thai tourist police! I got scammed at the airport by a dtac employee who took my money and did not add it to my sim card. The officers were really pissed about it and said they would go investigate (which I did not believe of course) Few days later, the perpetrator sent me an SMS to “apologize about her mistake” and wired money to my account…
I also had a positive cop experience. Wallet containing 20000 baht got pickpocketed. Thief wasn’t satisfied and also used my credit card. I went to the Kerby Joseph American professional football safety Detroit Bold T-Shirt in addition I really love this cops and the very day after or the next I was face to face with the guy in cuffs. Police said they only found 17k but hey I think that was them taking their cut. Fair price for the prompt service I say. i am genuinely concerned about how you all in this community are functioning around the world without knowing that everyone needs to take a bite to eat. Calling tips to police and judges “bribery and corruption” is very missing the point They’ve also saved my life and set up patrols out of my house for 5 nights in a row when a crazy ex bf wanted to kill me. These liberals who think America sucks yet are shocked when they find out the hard way they aren’t in America anymore when they clearly chose a country that they can feel superior over all the poor, non-white locals.

Does your comment contribute to the discussion in a way that invites others to engage in thoughtful dialogue? You might find yourself more comfortable in other subreddits where you can find like minded individuals who spend their lives spreading vitriol. Just refrain from doing it here. Please and thank you If you haven’t yet, I’d recommend you inform the US consulate. It may not help your situation but helps others. The consulate should be made aware of the threats nomads face. but the islands are gang controlled and kidnappings for ransoms on the Malaysia side of the border are a known thing. I’m not sure if they are spreading
I’m sorry what happened to you – the Kerby Joseph American professional football safety Detroit Bold T-Shirt in addition I really love this guy sounds like he was high on yaba and probably mental, but don’t confuse your experience for a broader trend – it is rare to unheard of for Westerners to be kidnapped in Thailand.
It’s super upsetting to me because an actual cool mauve is the Kerby Joseph American professional football safety Detroit Bold T-Shirt in addition I really love this most flattering lip/cheek color on me and I keep getting warm brick-ish colors advertised as mauves Omg, thanks so much. I’ve been trying for a few weeks to find a mauve I was happy with and everything either looked too vibrantly purple or warm, so this looks perfect You’re not colorblind, brands have decided to reallllllly push it w calling shit mauve – this is the most egregious, though! I’ve seen it for coral, dusty rose, and this shade of lipstick that I don’t know that it actually is but 100% is not a light pinky/purple. I’d call it a taupe pink but you know what? Taupe is another one that apparently just means WHATEVER in makeup ugh Yes! They realized we like mauve and instead of providing it, they just slap the name on whatever color they have that isn’t selling well and call it a day. It’s not just makeup either. I’ve noticed it in clothing too.
Seriously, as someone who works in cosmetics I get people asking for ‘mauve’ lipstick all the Kerby Joseph American professional football safety Detroit Bold T-Shirt in addition I really love this time, and then look at me like I’m stupid when I show them an actual mauve coloured lipstick This article has a picture of what mauve looked like when it was first discovered/invented: They could have the wrong shade with the wrong label on their website. I have sent makeup back more than once because the picture of the shade I got was drastically different than what I actually got, but the name was correct. Think you are getting a brick red and a hot pink shows up. I might look around to make sure their shade chart isn’t wrong. this isn’t even close to mauve and this honestly isn’t the first product i’ve seen being labelled as mauve when it doesn’t come close. this making me so mad cause mauve is my favourite blush colour and my go to has been sold out for months at the MAC stores near me.
So weird, I was just looking at a blush as well earlier today thinking this same thought. It was a similar color to this one, labeled as something mauve. Like no, I need an ACTUAL. MAUVE. Cosmetic companies cater to warm skintones in the Kerby Joseph American professional football safety Detroit Bold T-Shirt in addition I really love this Western Hemisphere which leaves cool-toned skintoned people at a loss. Exponentially so for those with olive undertones. If you are warm toned, you have an inherent advantage at life being easier for you. Thank you for contributing to MUA! While this isn’t mauve it is more cool-toned than warm even if it’s a pinky shade. Things can be cool-toned and still rosy, and I think people have a hard time discerning that sometimes. I’d call the undertone more neutral.. but regardless it’s not mauve. The selection on the bottom of the screen is mauve, but the color they have shown is not. It looks like they put the wrong photo up Mauve is supposed to be cool the description of the blush even said so but golly! This isn’t even cool toned. It’s almost orange
They should pay you for marketing. Because you are the Kerby Joseph American professional football safety Detroit Bold T-Shirt in addition I really love this perfect model for this dress! I would love to buy it, but I don’t have curves so afraid it won’t sit on me Hahah i’ve thought about reaching out to them. I’ve got a decently large social media following and never thought to take it seriously! US4/UK 8. There’s some excess fabric around the waist and it’s a tad snug in the hips for me. There isn’t much stretch either x Yeah definitely. I am between a US2 and 4 up top (UK6/8) and it fit fine if a bit small around my hips – i’m bottom heavy so if you are it might be best to size up? have you thought about a thin scarf or something similar that would play up your gorgeous shoulders/neck? not trying to sound like a creeper but This dress and you are gorgeous and I think it might look good! Strangely, I got a very interesting black jacket as a hand me down from my mother-in-law that would look great with your dress, ugh wish i could loan you it for the opening! Holy cow, I looked it up on their website and this dress fits you better than their model! I’m not very good at accessorizing so I’m no help there, but seriously, good pick girl I think it already looks perfect on you that it doesn’t need any styling. If you’re feeling comfy and confident, then rock it! You look amazing as you are. The only thing I can thing of if you want something different is to Maybe add an interesting arty necklace or choker. Something that accentuates your tattoos.
i’ve got lots of crystal jewelry my sister made me that could work, but they’re more goddess-vibes then witchy… i would personally layer lots of crystal-y bracelets and a few necklaces, a big dark hat could make it lean more witchy like you wanted with those accessories I wouldn’t do a choker due to the Kerby Joseph American professional football safety Detroit Bold T-Shirt in addition I really love this neckline of the dress. I think a petite necklace is perfect because your tattoos are an accessorie of their own. A choker would draw attention upward and you want the dress to stand out not the accessory. Just my opinion. My advice is to lose the necklaces and let your tattoo be the star (it’s so cool) and then have some fun with drop/dangly earrings. I saw another comment said you have crystal jewelry – if you have any crystal earrings I’d rock those.
Thank you! I found some pretty glass beaded earrings from my mum that might look cute. I think i’ll leave my grandma’s necklace on and take off the Kerby Joseph American professional football safety Detroit Bold T-Shirt in addition I really love this rest? it’s a thin gold chain Yes, the thin gold chain necklace is perfect. It’s a subtle and sublime accent to any outfit. Your grandma has great taste. Looks excellent, I’d accessorize with an LMG and a combat knife as my secondary weapon..flashbang grenades are also possible here With any necklaces you wear avoid anything small or thin that goes down over your tattoo. Letting that show uncovered Would look great for the dark fantasy theme you’re aiming for. The necklace that goes over it now shows how it makes your chest look busy with the tattoo, but the neckline gorgeously suits the tattoo. I would let it be a feature of the outfit. So fine necklaces that sit higher like what you’re wearing above that one, would look great. Thank you! I’ve been tatted for so long i forget i’ve got them sometimes. I’ll definitely have a look for a shorter chain x I always forget about mine too. Especially when they aren’t in my line of view and people compliment them, end up like a dog chasing its tail trying to see what they’re talking about. Even the shortest chain you’re wearing now looks good with it. A bit of length but not a full on choker. Definitely play around with your accessories or have a friend bring some over.
I actually wonder too if there is some badass jewellery artists in your area that would be down to loan something with some kind of a credit line plugging them or telling people when you get inevitable compliments. I feel like some kind of sheer black stocking with a pattern could amp up the Kerby Joseph American professional football safety Detroit Bold T-Shirt in addition I really love this witchy factor. Plus I think it will just look nice with the dress. Maybe add some cuff bracelets and large, dangly statement black earrings, otherwise I’d keep the jewelry at a minimum (I think your tattoos are enough of an accessory and look just beautiful with the cut of the dress!) congrats on the show! Ooh maybe! i always worry that stockings give hoochie mama if the pattern isn’t right. The jewelry is a good shout thank you x Haha yeah there’s definitely a fine line with the stockings…but since it’s really only a peek showing it might work. & you’re welcome!
It looks so good on you!! Maybe just a little more jewelry (gold may stand out more over ur tattoos and imo is slightly more elegant than silver) Maybe just an anklet or a pair that ties/buckles around the Kerby Joseph American professional football safety Detroit Bold T-Shirt in addition I really love this ankle? I feel like that would add some dimension and drama to the outfit and balance it out a bit I’d stick with necklaces with a short drop to show off your tattoos, add some bracelets or an arm cuff. And then get some head jewellery! Etsy might have some inspiration I think it looks good, but if you’re looking for other options, I might go with silver styling. A silver heel, silver bracelet, silver earrings. Maybe a small or even no necklace because your tattoo draws a good amount of attention.
