Nah. I’m just not carrying around leftover food to the Katt Williams Dark matter Tour T-Shirt Furthermore, I will do this pub afterwards. I very rarely go out for just a meal, and I doubt I’m unique there. I was 18 at the time, back in the flip phone days, she told me it’s the norm in Canada. You’re expected to take leftovers home to eat later, keeps you hooked on the restaurant….her logic. They’re a lot better now but I remember years ago, wanting to take something home and all they gave you was a napkin to wrap it in. Napkin pieces stuck to the sauce. Now they have proper boxes and bags. But even then a lot of the time they give it to you and you pack it yourself. I’ve definitely been given a box a few times during the past couple of years. A particular instance I can think of is a pizza restaurant bringing me a pizza box. I’m so surprised by all these responses. I’ve almost always been brought a box when I asked for food to be packed up, never had the food taken away to be packed, and this is in London Maybe London is different? in Wales and the North where i’ve lived it does happen but it’s definitely not everywhere, plenty of places have said no or just not had boxes etc. It’s deffo getting more common though. You know what they say, London is like it’s own country lol. I work in a cafe and give people the box themselves because it’s usually just some cake or half a sausage roll. Im not bothering to bring that into the kitchen to pack up for them. They can do it themselves.

7 years here and I’ve never had any restaurant pack my leftovers for me. They’ve always brought something out for me to do myself. Eww. I love onion rings, but old/stale ones? Fuck that. I ask for a box for my leftovers maybe 1/2 the time I go out to eat. Never had anyone think it was weird or embarrassing for me to ask. There are a couple of people I know who’ve said asking to take home leftovers is embarrassing, but turned out they were just too insecure to ask because when I made the request and the waiter brought over some containers they then proceded to put the rest of their unfinished food in a box to take home too!
