Cause I’m a new driver and I need to be in the KanjI yugen shirt in other words I will buy this left lane to turn where I need to go everyday and I’m too scared to change lanes constantly But you can’t blame me, roads are poorly designed sometimes. Have you seen the I-88 and Route 59 intersection? If not, I suggest looking it up because it’s very poorly designed. It basically forces you to drive on the wrong side of the road and then go back to the side you’re supposed to be on. It’s supposed to prevent left turns, but it’s terrifying because it’s confusing. I had a coworker who said they ride in the left most lane no matter what for their 10 miles on the highway because their exit was on the left. Not a great reason in my opinion. This is a question I’ve always wanted to answer and I don’t see anyone here with my reasoning: I always drive in the left lane on any road or highway I’m on. Typically I drive 5-15 over, depending on if the people around me are 5-10 over. If everyone is going the speed limit I sit in the left lane at 5 over. If everyone is going 10 over I sit there at 15 over. Nobody is trying to pass me because I’m going quicker. If anyone does move into the lane right behind me, or I see someone approaching behind me faster than I’m going, I move to the right until they pass and then I go back and continue on my way. I’ve never obstructed anyone in the left lane this way, and I don’t tailgate slow left laners either unless they’re traveling under the speed limit. It’s my opinion that if someone is going 5 over and I want to go 10 over, I have no right to ride their ass until they move over. I’m basically waiting for them to move out of the way of breaking the law so I can have a turn doing it worse so I don’t really think it’s fair to be upset with their speed when they’re already literally driving illegally fast.

I think I remember someone saying that it would give them more time to react if a moose came onto the road in front of them. I can clearly recall an incident when I was in the left lane doing the speed limit(ish) because I had an exit in the next mile or two coming up. I was being aggressively tailgated the entire time by a driver who then gestured at me furiously after passing me on the right. I am 100% agreeing with this, but on the flip side… why do people RIDE YOUR ASS if you don’t pass in .3 seconds? Bro, at least give me a chance to speed up and get around the guy before you climb up my rectum. It’s not how we do it in Atlanta so fuck everyone else I guess. I do it when I’m going long distance and get over when people get annoyed Hate to say it but until I was about 20 I thought it was called the fast lane. Why? Because my dad always drove in it exclusively and called it that, so guess what I did when I started driving? Drove fast in the fast lane. I was always confused as to why people kept getting over and back again. I’d be in my car mumbling “pick a lane buddy. You getting off on this exit or no?” One day I had someone in the car with me and voiced that and he was like what are you going on about? That being said, one time I borrowed my mom’s Highlander for a long drive. The adaptive cruise control kept sensing slow traffic ahead in the right lane and slowing me down to their speed. I turned the range down to the minimum but it would still slow me down when it saw a truck 500 yards in front of me. Before I knew it I was hanging out in the left lane to avoid getting slowed down by the cruise control. And then it hit me…maybe this is why all these motherfuckers hang out over here.
