I’m honestly so sick of these head lights. I’m a delivery driver so I’m dealing with this shit non stop. Doesn’t help I live in a redneck state where people think they need lights all over their trucks in the city If this bright ass beam is allowed, are you allowed to put a reflector somewhere behind your car to fuck with these clowns? Something should – and CAN – be done about this. You’ll get a ticket for having a headlight out, a brake light out, etc., etc. So, just make these obscenely bright lights illegal as well. Ticket these idiots. Another way for cops to make $$$ and drivers aren’t dangerously blinded anymore. Win win. If you can turn your rear mirror and it will reflect back, sometimes if it’s a lifted truck you gotta find the right distance but it does work. Trucks are the worst for this. I know every new vehicle has insanely bright headlights but at least the cars and smaller crossovers the lights are low enough it usually isn’t the problem. Even a truck or SUV with no lift and the lights are right in your face. The worst are the ones that pass you going half a km/h faster than you so it takes an eternity for them to go away.

The high beams tailgated me on a stretch of highway that didn’t have a lot of cars. They followed me as I changed lanes several times. I couldn’t find an exit with lots of people where I thought I’d be safe. I had a shitty old car and was scared I’d break down and be killed. This went on for miles. I sped up trying to escape. Then the blue and red lights came on. It was highway patrol. They were egging me on to cause me to speed so they could give me a ticket. I barely had two nickels to rub together. After they pulled me over, drew guns, and then gave me a ticket, they drove off laughing hysterically. I’m still traumatized from it.

Electrochromatic auto dimming side mirrors and a camera rear view mirror are a godsend! I forget about this until I drive someone else’s car or a loaner that doesn’t have it and it’s awful! The good news is that when this occurs …you have plenty of light to conduct “in the car” science experiments…..quadrillions of photons per square inch or some such. My old windowless long-bed panel truck was a bear to back up at night.
