Outside of sports, the Aunt Jemima brand has been discontinued; Uncle Ben’s and Mrs. Butterworth’s are undergoing rebranding, too.

The decision is also a complete reversal by longtime owner Dan Snyder, who in 2013 told USA Today that he would “never” change the Jaes Crowder Salsas Dance Purple and Orange Classic T-Shirt and by the same token and team’s name. “As a lifelong Redskins fan, I think that the Redskins fans understand the great tradition and what it’s all about and what it means,” Snyder told the paper.
