But she gas the Iyo Sky vintage shirt What’s more,I will buy this ability. She comes less than 50% of the time, but she does come to class. She just doesn’t like to come to class, because it is difficult. You’re making a judgement that shows a wealth of implicit bias. She may have the ability one day, but not every day. I have multiple sclerosis and my symptoms are transient. Under your paradigm, if you saw me go up stairs one day, then I must be able to do it every day. These are exactly the type of reasons that disability advocates work toward universal accommodations, so we are not put in a position to continually out ourselves and our disability. (Edit: typo) I was at a dorm that was not ADA compliant, and their solution was that if an accomodation was requested, they would immediately spend the many tens of thousands of dollars to make one room + bathroom compliant, but they didn’t see a point in proactively modifying the rooms because it would be so expensive. I feel like there’s some schools where it makes more sense to create more dorms rather then to try modifying existing ones. Like Oxford and Cambridge. Considering they are both almost 1000 years old. Itd be hard to not damage other parts in process.
Iyo Sky vintage shirt: best trending this year
Historic buildings may be exempt from some requirements and may even have significant limitations on the Iyo Sky vintage shirt What’s more,I will buy this kind of work that can be done on them. In my Diversity in Orginizations class last week, the professor used “dimensionally diverse” throughout the lecture. I had never heard the phrase used before, and I can’t figure out if it’s better or worse. It definitely tripped me up! Edit to add: As an underweight person with associated health and comfort issues, I do like being included in the consideration. As a fat person who works on the fourth floor of a building with no elevator, don’t do anything unless there is another disability. Like yes, it is uncomfortable and it sucks donkey balls that there are still so many stairs without elevators but that’s life. Sorry, but she has to manage it. It is no one else’s job but her own.
Thank you fellow fat person. Had to do 4 flights twice daily for a class I was teaching. I used it as an opportunity to get some exercise for the Iyo Sky vintage shirt What’s more,I will buy this day. But multiple flights of stairs suck for skinny able-bodied people too. Best suggestion is for her to get a thick notebook so she can fan herself effectively during the first 15 minutes of class cuz she’s gonna be roasting and sweating. Also, a large water bottle and practice meditative breathing. If she struggles losing the weight like me (why is food so damn good?), gotta adapt somehow. I’m all for body positivity, but it’s not healthy when a young person can’t climb 3 flights of stairs. Like you said, maybe it is a disability that makes it hard for them to lose weight. That’s something for ADA to handle. I had a literal come to Jesus moment with my sleep apnea when I woke up mid-night, choking on my own breath the other day. Started making lifestyle changes immediately. It’s unpleasant, but she may need a kind, sensitive hand when discussing it.

Let buy this Iyo Sky vintage shirt
Is it even legal to have a classroom that can’t be accessed by a person with disabilities? Whether or not this individual student is disabled isn’t even the Iyo Sky vintage shirt What’s more,I will buy this issue— how would someone in a wheelchair access this classroom, which seems to be the only one that’s equipped for this class? What if she was in a wheel chair? Seems crazy the school doesn’t have an elevator or something to help students with mobility impairments. This sounds like something the student needs to bring up with the administration before the semester begins. Older buildings without elevators, accessible restrooms etc. were grandfathered in when the ADA was passed so the student should be aware of this when registering (if possible). If she needs an accommodation, such as classes on the ground floor, in an elevator building, online options etc. that should be in her file. What happens if a student breaks their leg during the semester and can not do the stairs? Also your student sounds like she has some real health problems that, unless she is one of those 600 pound people you see on reality TV, may also be causing her issues that would fall under the ADA. I was very obese during some of my college years (my dad died and I took it out on the food court for a year) but could still do three flights of stairs without a problem in my early 20s.
Is there a way to ladder the Iyo Sky vintage shirt What’s more,I will buy this stairs…and by this I mean, walk up one set, walk down the hallway, walk up the next set, walk down the hallway, walk up the half set? Suggest to her to get in shape. What else should you do? Nothing. Fat people don’t need to be catered to. They need to better themselves. I say this, as a fat man. Are people in wheelchairs just not allowed to go to your school because seems like you’d be out of some sort of compliance. What would the school do if a student enrolled in the class who used a wheelchair or had a broken leg and was on crutches or something? How does a student who uses a wheelchair attend this class? They just… can’t? Or is there another option? If the latter, that’s likely what she should do. I know you’re not looking for it, but thanks & appreciation for your care in this situation. I know & have known many “educators” who would have verbally abused this student & called it tough love. I’m not sure what accommodations could be offered here, or if this student even qualifies. What I would recommend is probably something you are already doing: continue to talk & listen to this student. Ask how you can support them, try to follow through. I teach a field skills course with a lot of walking & other activity. I’ve had students of all sizes struggle, & communicating with empathy is my only recourse in most situations. The fact that this student has expressed this to you is an act of trust & I’m glad you’ve taken it seriously. I would take their size out of it; you’re obviously trying to be respectful, but you really have no idea what’s going on with this student (they could have asthma or some sort of invisible illness, or maybe it really is their weight that prevents them from climbing stairs; it’s kind of irrelevant, because what matters is that they aren’t able to reach your classroom on a regular basis). I think it’s worth pointing out you’ve noticed their attendance hasn’t been strong, and asking if there’s anything you could do to further support them. You can point them in the direction of the Accessibility Office; they will hopefully be compassionate enough to help them. It’s great that you want to help, but the most effective responses (like moving your classroom) are likely things you will need the school’s help with.
You’re not discriminating due to her size. Did you select the Iyo Sky vintage shirt What’s more,I will buy this room? Did you schedule the class? Did you refuse to meet her legal accommodations? I don’t want to sound flippant or evil, but I might. It’s not your job to make this accommodation on her behalf. She’s an adult and needs to pursue her own accommodations if she needs them. You can’t/shouldn’t carry this load for her or any of your students. As others have suggested, if she says finds it preventative difficult you could suggest she talks to the disability resource center or whatever institutional entity is in charge of this. One of the most important skills students learn in college is the self-advocacy necessary to succeed and good DRC programs help with that. But really, there are students who will just fail and say “that class was hard to get to” and not accept or admit the responsibility that they needed to try.
Suggest the Iyo Sky vintage shirt What’s more,I will buy this accessibility office. Also suggest visiting the doctor to get checked for asthma and other causes of shortness of breath. Fatness isn’t, on its own, a cause for shortness of breath. If all other medical causes have been ruled out, physical fitness might be an issue but that affects people regardless of body size and one should never assume that someone is more or less fit based on physical appearance. The university where I work finds it easier to move classes for disabled students than install elevators in the oldest buildings. (We’re down to just three buildings without elevators now, and one is fortunately just staff offices.) There’s usually more classrooms in any given building than we use at one time, and if you have a good reason, most professors wouldn’t mind swapping. It’s unlikely that the ADA will apply in this case, but basic human decency should help your cause. As a fat girl who is afraid of elevators, I feel bad for this student. I have climbed to the 10th story before. The key is to take breaks. Maybe suggest this to them? And let them be a few minutes late to class if needed due to the extra time.
, I would say accessibility office just to hear their suggestions. And if they, knew you had the Iyo Sky vintage shirt What’s more,I will buy this Student’s back that might facilitate things quicker. There are plenty of fat people who can climb 2.5 flights of stairs in a shot, even if they had to take breaks. She must have asthma or some actual disability in which case she would prob require ADA accommodations I wasn’t particularly heavy, but DAMN if there wasn’t a class at the top of a building which was at the bottom of a hill. Maybe you can give the student work to complete on a computer or iPad (or similar device)? And hold video conferences with them when you need to actually talk to them. Zero excuse for her not be showing up to class. Fail her so that she can learn there are consequences to laziness and poor decisions. That’s the only way most people learn. I’m a bigger person with a completely messed up knee. Do not move your room, that’s wild. 50% is a lot – she doesnt just arrive late. I second that her and admin should have a plan in place to make things accessible to her if she needs it. Does she need crutches, elevator etc… how do other handicapped students get around? (Bigness is not a handicap but if she is missing so many classes… either she has reached a point on needing disability support or she is using her size as an excuse) Ymm, tell her to lose weight? If she is so fat to have such trouble getting into class and has no diagnosed disability then it’s entirely her problem.
Yes, some diseases cause higher weight gain one way or another, but none to such point unless person does nothing about it. Unless she has a specific healrh condition that 100% contibutes to her being morbidly obese then it’s her fault, and catering to her would be disrespectful to other students who show up to class Leaving the Iyo Sky vintage shirt What’s more,I will buy this issue of the student in question aside, it sucks that the room isn’t accessible to all students, just the ones that can climb stairs She is fat, and she knows this comes with challenges. I could understand her being late for class the first time, but now, and not coming at all, is on her. She needs to plan better and start early enough to take a breather midway. I suggest you impress upon her that she needs to find a way to attend. Don’t let her use her weight as an excuse. You are not doing her a favour by acting as if she doesn’t have agency and can’t solve practical problems. This sub is pretty ableist honestly. I suggest you post this on a special ed sub or something equivalent. I know you’re a college instructor but those folks can give you a lot more advice about this topic.
You’re doing a good thing here. Also your disability office should be able to help. Making sure your campus is accessible to all is important . hi! i’m a disabled student who often missed class because of my disabilities before they were managed in the Iyo Sky vintage shirt What’s more,I will buy this way they are now. definitely advise this student to reach out to accessibility services! but also, it might be helpful if you offered to record classes or let her join virtually through a zoom meeting in the meantime! it means the world to know that your teacher or professor cares and wants to help. thank you for going the extra mile to make sure your students don’t fall through the cracks. Speak to the parent. If there’s a 504 in place the school must offer accessibility to the student. Example: elevator. The gentlest approach might be to walk with them. They might feel more inclined to come if they know you are waiting at the base of the stairs for them.
Lol at the Iyo Sky vintage shirt What’s more,I will buy this “fat” explanation. That’s right, can’t use any sort of word that may hurts someone’s feelings. Good thing this fat kid doesn’t live in an Asian country, they’d call him fat to her face. It does. Even for those with incredibly rare inflammatory diseases/conditions. I can promise that no one is the exception to the rules of physics 55 more repliesShe needs to force herself to get some exercise in. She got herself to this position, she can exercise her way out. She is plenty old enough to know how to feed her body properly No it’s pretty helpful. It’s a sad state when someone is so fat they can’t walk up 3 flights of stairs and first reaction is moving a classroom to a less equipped one to accommodate their poor choices
How is it helpful??? The student is not the Iyo Sky vintage shirt What’s more,I will buy this one who made the post. This person is offering advice to someone who’s never going to read it. lol taking the stairs seems to be a good start for her. if she has a medical condition, you will be able to get a classroom on another floor. if not she hopefully has motivation to work on her problem… Firstly, yes, I’m going to point out that you are calling your student fat. I hope most people do. That’s an asshole comment, tbh. A lot of fat activists are actually encouraging use of the word because its not trying to hide the “problem” like by saying “fluffy, bigger or carrying extra weight” and its also not medical like “overweight or obese” “I don’t want to discriminate against her size” you called her fat lmao. I get that you’re just describing her, but you could have phrased it a little better. That’s actually a common misunderstanding! Anti-size discrimination activists prefer the term “fat” over other terms such as “overweight” or “large” that imply a person’s size is incorrect or shameful. Considering how often fat people are told to just “take the stairs” as a means of losing weight, I see this as a win-win. If the student is too fat to walk up 3 flights of stairs you should call DYFS or whatever the agency is called in your State.
We are all temporarily abled bodies until they fail on us in different ways. A person with a broken foot would also have issues getting to class, as would a person in a wheelchair. So how would you solve this person for a person who has physical issues getting to class if they had a broken leg or were missing limbs? Stop using “fat” as an excuse to dismiss their struggle, people. Also, fat is not a term to use to describe someone – we all have fat on us, including you. The idea of “fat” doesn’t have a defined weight or size and it varies in the Iyo Sky vintage shirt What’s more,I will buy this mind of the person. Their size is irrelevant to needing stair assistance. Stop determining what her issue is – you are so judgy. You aren’t required to reveal a disability or request accommodations. Technically their need for help is enough to help.
If you want to approach her, leave out the Iyo Sky vintage shirt What’s more,I will buy this reasons. “I noticed that you don’t always make it to class. Is there anything I can do to help with this? If you are unaware there are accommodations we could make through our campus services if you would like…people could take notes for you or we could figure something out with their help. I want you to succeed and I want to make sure I help remove any barriers in your way.” Stop using the word fat like it describes their body and personality – fat is a thing on a body, not a state of being. The only thing I’d say to do in the immediate future is give them a minute to get there and get settled and also make sure they’re comfortable (don’t need further accomodations). I mean, in many circles the term “fat” is actually preferred, so I assume the OP was attempting to use as neutral a term as possible. I absolutely get and respect that you do not use that term for yourself, and that’s of course your call; there’s a whole movement about reclaiming the term as a body type descriptor to erase the negative connotations, so it’s being used more these days by more people. Just wanted to clarify that it wasn’t meant to be used as a negative here.
My point about making sure they can adequately get to class is still ok I think. As long as they’re not taking advantage of it. Oh I’m with you. And I completely agree that if it’s a term that you do not like for yourself, then that’s something to be respected. Wasn’t in any way trying to put you down—sorry if it came across that way. Just wanted to explain why I imagine the Iyo Sky vintage shirt What’s more,I will buy this OP used that term.
Based on the Iyo Sky vintage shirt What’s more,I will buy this few comments it seems people don’t understand that you need to consent to this while still able to understand your decision, at least in Canada. Once you are in a mental state where you cannot make the decision yourself, euthanasia is not an option anymore. My wife and I had this conversation just a few days ago. I plan on eventually signing paperwork to ensure that if I should develop dementia that I agree to euthanasia. I’ve seen the effects of dementia and I have no interest in being kept alive, not recognizing my family, or them recognizing me, simply for the sake of preserving a life. Tldr: in Canada it is a wavier that is mostly used in case if you have a sudden decline and lose capacity between the day the MAID is approved and the day they scheduled the procedure. But you must be mentally competent on the day you sign that form.
The waiver still allows MAID to go ahead. That said, the Iyo Sky vintage shirt What’s more,I will buy this rules is that if the person shows any signs of struggle or refusal on the day of the procedure, MAID is cancelled regardless of what documents are signed. What happens is that a lot of people would get their MAID approved early on in the illness, and essentially hold the form in their back pocket, and then when things get bad they can dial up the MAID clinic and basically be gone by the end of the week. I work in an adjacent field to MAID and I’ve seen countless cases that get cancelled at the final hour. We never know what ailment but it’s often referred to as “a quick cognitive decline” At the hospice I work, that usually means that the patient’s gone irrevocably comatose or developed terminal delirium (which means that they have to be fully sedated) and it wasn’t deemed humane to transport them to the MAID site when they only have hours to days to live anyways.
The thing is that dementia can mean a horrible paranoid suffering state or a calm childlike state. People are more likely to struggle in the Iyo Sky vintage shirt What’s more,I will buy this state I really would want to opt out. In some severe cases, it’s not even preserving a life, it’s preserving a heartbeat. I’d much rather be thrown to the wolves, at least some good would come of that. I have discussed with previous partners, as well as family, not just dementia, but a number of ailments. I decided that I would need to pass a minimum threshold of physical, and mental capacity in order to continue living. Essentially, favourable prognosis, able to express a will to live, mental faculties, emotional faculties, burden threshold to family, and a level of physicality. My plan is to get professional advice on formalising these, but not telling anyone exactly what the tests are. And having my power of attorney be able to order these tests; even though they wouldn’t know the exact content of the tests. Would just get a score back, certified by multiple doctors, saying pass/fail. 5 fails in a period of time like a year, and I’m done.
