IT positions. Yes they are still hiring but it’s massively reduced. IT goes in cycles and right now it is tougher to be in IT (with 2-3 years experience) than in the It’s Christmas You Boob Shirt it is in the first place but last 5 to 10 years. Recruiters / Talent Acquisition / HR. You can pretty easily tell how tough the market is, when you see a wave of Talent Acquisition people get laid off. If your company is not hiring typically the VERY first to go is Recruiters/HR. We are the cannaries in the mine for hiring. Now individually it is tough, but when you combine them (Fresh Grad, who is looking for a Remote IT position as an example) it gets absolutely BRUTAL. Those are just a few of the reasons why “every one is hiring” but “no one is hiring”. Again their are probably a few more I could add in each but this should at least show a good example of the above. In addition as their has been a LOT of Recruiter/HR layoffs (especially internally at companies) it is slowing down the hiring process to a crawl as the ones that are left have about 3x the workload and Recruiters are the ones (yes even internally) that move you from each stage of the interview process.

I agree I’ve been trying to start with csx transportation and it took 3 months to get a legit interview. I might not even get the job because of this hireright crap that isn’t accepting my documents to verify my work history and I can reach out to anyone to ask what to do. It’s in the blue color sector, there is a semblance of balancing going on between office roles and labor roles. I was literally offered 82k annually to go work as a deli manager for a higher end grocery store last month, which sparked my interest to start an analysis on it. Mid to senior level labor roles are in high demand and wages are increasing significantly. Yeah, there are plenty of part time jobs. There are plenty of temporary/contract jobs. There are plenty of jobs with no benefits. There are plenty of jobs with extremely low pay. There are plenty of jobs that have you using your own tools/vehicles/resources for low pay and part time hours. There are plenty of dangerous or skilled jobs that are grossly, disgustingly underpaid with no benefits. I’m looking at you police officer job for 19 bucks an hour or trash truck driver for 35k a year. I’m looking at you CNA for 26k a year. I’m looking at you transit driver for 17 bucks an hour or OTR trucker for 500 bucks a week. same friend same. I have 12 years experience in Office/ school administration and I cant event get an assistant gig. What gives?
