I have a massive extended family with a whole cross section of artists, actors, musicians, nurses, outdoor instructors and tree surgeons amongst us. I was once accused (by a shambling drunk) of ‘lying to try and impress people’ coz we were round a table bouncing anecdotes back and forth and I had a boat load of yarns to spin. I hope I don’t end up co-opting other people’s tales… Yup, I was made a joke in German class at school. My cousin was a teacher in the It’s A Great Week To Be A Kansas City Chiefs Fan Shirt in addition I really love this same school as me and said the teacher has repeated the joke as his own. I feel like jokes are more fair game. Most canned jokes that people tell were learned / copied from someone else; it’s not like telling a supposedly true story about something funny that happened to you. I run a cub scout pack. I remember one time when I was giving the cubs some basic first aid training, one boy came up with a line that I said I would use next time I ran the session.
It’s A Great Week To Be A Kansas City Chiefs Fan Shirt, hoodie, hoodie and long sleeve tee
The next time I did that activity – a year or two later – I definitely used the It’s A Great Week To Be A Kansas City Chiefs Fan Shirt in addition I really love this line, and remember remembering that I’d stolen it. Today, I have no idea what that line was. I suspect I’ve absorbed it into my standard first aid patter, and have forgotten that it wasn’t my own. It’s pretty normal to repeat a funny joke you heard. Not the same as pretending someone’s experience happened to you My younger half sister. She’s a narcissist and gaslighter. I’ve blocked her on everything but she steals Al my sisters and my childhood memories, trauma etc and makes them her own. She wasn’t even born when me and my older sister had these memories but less than a week later it’s all over her Facebook as poor me when we were all sat having coffe together once.
I know a young lass (~18) with BPD, and she does that shit with her siblings. Obviously that doesn’t diagnose your sister, but it may be something like that. in any case people like this can be a real challenge to deal with. You have me sympathy. My wife’s colleague lived with us for a bit and she would try to tell me anecdotes from work that didn’t actually happen to her as if she was involved. I’d talk to my wife and ask about the It’s A Great Week To Be A Kansas City Chiefs Fan Shirt in addition I really love this drunk shoplifter or something and my wife would be confused and say that happened to someone else on another day. She was a very weird person, as if she didn’t have a personality of her own. She got very upset when my wife would spend time with me instead of her and started buying the same (or similar) clothes and things. I think she was just very needy. She came to live with us because she said her previous flatmate was horrible, but when we met them they seemed pretty nice. After she lived with us for a while we started to see that maybe it was her that was the issue.

We were watching Alien one night and she came in and sat on the It’s A Great Week To Be A Kansas City Chiefs Fan Shirt in addition I really love this opposite couch asked what we were watching and then said something like ‘oh, I don’t like horror movies’. Sat in silence for a bit and then left. Apparently we were supposed to have put the movie off and watched something else. My mum saw a panther-like Big Cat on her way home from work one night. She’s told us the story many times over the years, so I’m familiar with all the beats of it, especially how she was too afraid to get out of the car when she got home, and sat in the drive for half an hour before bolting to the door. The last time a Big Cat sighting came up in the news, my dad told her story, beat-for-beat, as if it was his own. He was even describing the emotions as if he’d felt them, it was freaky. When we challenged him about it, he doubled down, and described the stretch of road it had happened on, as if that was proof. I think he still thinks it was his story and memory. Very weird. In school we had to do a desert island discs thing for English and one of the songs I chose was rocking all over the world because it had been playing in the stadium after we won the play off final which I went to with my dad.
I was talking with my friends about what we were picking and then when we went to present, my friend went first and said the It’s A Great Week To Be A Kansas City Chiefs Fan Shirt in addition I really love this exact same thing. When I was a trainee, I and the other trainees had a regular weekly meeting with our boss, and it was a ritual that he would tell us a joke. The joke was always the post-credits Alice/Geraldine joke from the episode of the Vicar of Dibley which had been broadcast the night before. I genuinely believe it didn’t occur to him that we might have televisions. I was a new employee at this company, and we have children as clients. I told one of the higher ups before the next client, that the client was a kid of one of the other employees. She told me no they weren’t, not to lie and then quizzed me on all the details. (I’d been working with the client for three weeks and met and worked with his mum). Well in come a whole bunch of other employees, and this lady starts telling them all “did you know the kid was a child of x blah blah blah” a) absolutely breaking their confidentiality for gossip, and b) she just told me i was lying about it!! Not quite what you’re asking. But someone I worked with listened to the same podcast as me which was loosely work related. We discussed a particular episode where the host discussed some change in the workplace to boost innovation.
That colleague then went and repeated the It’s A Great Week To Be A Kansas City Chiefs Fan Shirt in addition I really love this anecdote from the podcast verbatim in a meeting with a potential collaborator as if it was his own. I was genuinely flabbergasted at him doing it. It was really weird. A manager of mine, many moons ago, would regularly ask for ideas on how to improve sales / profit etc. I swear every meeting with the directors he would spew out everyone’s ideas as if he had just thought of them. My ex was trying to impress a stand up comedian we got talking to after a gig and started telling one of my family anecdotes as if he’d witnessed it. When I interrupted him to tell him to stop being a prat, the comedian interrupted me to tell me to let story tellers talk. When I was at school I tried to tell the joke about the pirate who goes into a pub with a steering wheel attached to his groin. The barman asks why he has the steering wheel and the pirate responds “Arr, it’s drivin’ me nuts!”
Except I catastrophically fucked up the It’s A Great Week To Be A Kansas City Chiefs Fan Shirt in addition I really love this punchline and instead said “Arr, it’s steerin’ me balls!” Cue lots of blank expressions. I realised and explained the correct punchline but the damage had been done, my mates continued to rinse me for this fuckup the rest of our school lives. A few years later I told this story on a pretty obscure, not-very-active internet forum. Then a bit after that, on the same forum, someone posted this webcomic: I responded said “that’s a bizarre coincidence, I fucked up exactly that same punchline when I was at school”. The person who posted the comic said they said they had seen my previous post and that it was obvious I was lying — I had seen the webcomic and had tried to steal the story as my own. To this day I don’t get what happened here. Did the creator of that webcomic happen to find my stupid “steering me balls” story on this obscure corner of that internet and rip it off for their comic? Or was it just a weird coincidence? Is the world full of people independently fucking up that same punchline?
To this day I don’t get what happened here. Did the It’s A Great Week To Be A Kansas City Chiefs Fan Shirt in addition I really love this creator of that webcomic happen to find my stupid “steering me balls” story on this obscure corner of that internet and rip it off for their comic? You see I went to university with a very peculiar girl who lacked social skills and had mad Dolores Umbridge vibes (like saccharin sweet with a bit of dead-behind-the-eyes going on). We were all sat in a kitchen in one of the halls chatting and I told a story about how my mum was told by her grandad that there were no white lines on country roads because the sheep ate them. She only questioned the veracity of this information as she was repeating it to a car full of her mates as they drove to a country pub as young people (Lolz).
Not two days later I was sat in a group in a pub with Dolores and a few others, when she starts to regale the It’s A Great Week To Be A Kansas City Chiefs Fan Shirt in addition I really love this crowd with this hilarious story about how she was told as a child that there were no white lines…. And repeated my anecdote verbatim, only subbing in herself as the main character. She even made eye contact with me and didn’t break stride. I didn’t know what to do. It was the oddest situation! Mine wasn’t stolen personally, but I have accidentally stolen a friend’s by misattributing it to someone else and telling the original owner the story a few years later which must have been deeply confusing for them. Has repeated the same story that a friend of ours told his days before to a group of people, only he was the main character. Not quite the same but – My sister had a flatmate who twice, on separate occasions over a year apart, came home from work shaken because ‘the lights all went off on the tube, and a voice over the tannoy said bwahahaha’.
I interrupted two people trying to set a pub on fire early in the It’s A Great Week To Be A Kansas City Chiefs Fan Shirt in addition I really love this morning once and someone I worked with at the time, went to the pub, told them it was him and got a free drink. A few years back I was in Ibiza, having a few beers during the day. This was when you could hear music every where, it’s not like that now. There was about 8 of us, and I was talking about the music, I said that Ibiza has its own heartbeat, and that is what the music represents. My mum used to do it, if it were a particularly interesting or funny anecdote. We just went along with it and laughed. I once told a work colleague about a NSFW situation involving me preparing a spicy romantic meal for my girlfriend using fresh chillies and then the not so romantic after party because I couldn’t get all the Chilli off my hands.
He’ll do more than look you in the It’s A Great Week To Be A Kansas City Chiefs Fan Shirt in addition I really love this eye but actively prompt you to agree and chip in on the story. I genuinely also think he starts to believe his own story. Sometimes I’ll tell someone something and later they think that it was their memory or thought. I wonder whether they are the kind of people stage hypnotists would find particularly suggestible? My sisters are identical twins and if I’m telling one of them a piece of news or giving an update I’ll get déjà vu like feelings and I have to clarify whether I’ve already told them or the other twin lol This reminds me of the first episode of Fifteen Storeys High where Vince retells his colleague’s story of meeting the Wombles on Jim’ll Fix it. My ex-wife does this. I pulled her up on it, and she stopped. Well, she stopped doing it in front of me I later found out. Not me, but one of my housemates. He’d told a story to us that he’d read online, about some guy in the US charged with statutory rape, who was able to prove he believed the girl to be over 18 by having photographed the fake ID he’d shown. One of the other people around was a girl who was already known for being an outrageous liar, and a couple of weeks later she was telling the same story to me and my housemate, only this time it was her brother. We honestly couldn’t tell if she’d forgotten who told her that story or if she just didn’t care. I just muttered ‘how odd that that happened to you AND my mum…’ as I sipped my beer and absolutely did not cause a scene because stiff upper lip
I knew a girl back when I was at uni (we weren’t really friends) who stole a story she’d heard from me literally a couple of days beforehand and told everyone in the It’s A Great Week To Be A Kansas City Chiefs Fan Shirt in addition I really love this pub it had happened to her, I couldn’t believe it. It was too specific to be a coincidence too, it was about growing up believing that there are no white lines on country roads because sheep ate them. My Dad used to do that. He would embellish a bit, then forget where he heard the story. I once had to stop him midway through a tale and remind him that I had told him that story a few months earlier. I went to university with a very peculiar girl who lacked social skills and had mad Dolores Umbridge vibes (like saccharin sweet with a bit of dead-behind-the-eyes going on). We were all sat in a kitchen in one of the halls chatting and I told a story about how my mum was told by her grandad that there were no white lines on country roads because the sheep ate them. I was in the It’s A Great Week To Be A Kansas City Chiefs Fan Shirt in addition I really love this pub with friends once and one of them said there were no white lines on country roads because sheep ate them. She had literally heard me tell the story days before! I remember once right, fella jumped off the top diving board, then someone jumped off the middle board, they both landed on the spring board and went back up to the top board. At least you can top her stolen anecdote with this tale about the stolen anecdote. Unless of course this is itself is a stolen tale about a plagiarised anecdote, in which case someone will have to mention that the whole thing was ripped off from Reddit. A few jobs ago, I used to come into work on a Monday and tell people the story of what happened to me at the weekend. I used to go to a lot of parties and get myself into amusing situations.
My old boss tells these at company events but now he is promoted to the It’s A Great Week To Be A Kansas City Chiefs Fan Shirt in addition I really love this main character, and I’m demoted to an imbecile. He retains the vague outline of what happened, but because he wasn’t there for it, he makes up the rest. I’ve watched the evolution of these stories over the years, and now they’re just ridiculous things that could never have happened, but I’m still implicated in the imaginary events as I’m in the story. I actually used the phrase “You’ve stolen my gimp story” to a uni housemate as he was telling the exact same story I’d told to the exact same group of people a couple of weeks before. A Scottish bloke comes over to me and asks if we sold under water bulbs. I ask him to elaborate, like do you want them to put in a fish tank or ponnd or summat. He kept saying no and repeating “under water bulbs”. Long story short after much confusion, it transpired that he was asking for 100 watt(er) bulbs. luckily he saw the funny side. I told a particular coworker about it and shared a laugh.
Fast forward to about 2 years ago, said ex colleague who I remained friends with told me this story, with him as the It’s A Great Week To Be A Kansas City Chiefs Fan Shirt in addition I really love this main character. Yes, and I’ve stolen them too, but only when doing tour guide type work. It’s good to work funny stories into the script, and they work best when told ‘first hand’ so we constantly borrowed anecdotes from eachother. They were both in the army at the same time but completely different regiments. It so happens this friend ‘Pat’ was deployed to Iraq the exact same time as my brother, to the exact same location. A couple of weeks into their respective tours, Pat’s mother has a huge heart attack. I arrange for another army friend to drive to the airbase to pick him up (3 hours each way) as I didn’t drive and we dropped him at the hospital doors, luckily his mother recovered and he went back to Iraq.
Meanwhile, my brother had been moved to a post that was so relentlessly attacked that they rotated the It’s A Great Week To Be A Kansas City Chiefs Fan Shirt in addition I really love this troops every 2 weeks Brother is on the roof on sentry when he sees a convoy coming in the distance. Truck goes boom. A couple of hours later my brother gets a message to say that Pat had been driving the vehicle that was blown up. He’s sent back home with his wounds and shrapnel all in his spine, so again myself and my dad this time drive about 4 hrs to see him in a military hospital. First it was silly stuff, like stealing my cousin’s story about doing the ouija board in the basement of an old victorian pub. Then one Sunday afternoon, we was in the local. Pat is just starting to walk again. He starts to regale this story about how upon hearing about his mother’s heart attack, pulled a pistol on his commanding officer because he wasn’t going to let him home and then the officer miraculously changed his mind. He said the CO was so scared of him that when he landed back in the UK they had a helicopter waiting for him that dropped him on the roof of the hospital. Where (verbatim) he ran to the ward and screamed, “WHERE’S MY MOTHEERRRR!!!” all the while telling these people, “It’s true!, isn’t it *malificent?” And looking at me in all dead pan seriousness to back up his claims Oh and the explosion? He said that he was blown from the vehicle entirely and came under heavy fire. He claimed he was prepared to die in that moment but a brave soldier ran over and started dragging him by one arm across the floor to cover. While his other arm was left free to scream and side point and shoot his pistol at the attackers as he’s being dragged off. My brother spoke to the people who were there. This was another lie. He was crying and screaming for help and practically fainted. Which is obviously a more realistic response .
Met alot of liars for sure… definetly met some neer do wells fishing for information by trying to project the It’s A Great Week To Be A Kansas City Chiefs Fan Shirt in addition I really love this narrative they’ve heard about me onto there own circumstanses to illicit some kinda commoradery/mirror effect. Its gross. Like to say tricky tricky in a dumb, frustrating situation… stole that from an old friend. I mis remembered my sister’s story as my own, re a useless teacher at secondary school. She’s 3 years above me but it’s experiences with that teacher are similar but I had completely forgotten that that one thing was her story not mine. Silly really. I told a story quite often (can’t be repeated here as will maybe give identity away) that involved me, and had it repeated back TO ME by a guy but subbed himself in to the story instead of me. That was the last I ever bothered with him after that. He was a compulsive liar. Known for telling lies constantly, and for no reason. Literally could never believe a thing that came out of his mouth.
Needless to say when he told me his “story” immediately I recognised it, and he recognised that I recognised it, and I recognised that he recognised that I recognised it… We were both travelling in a car, alone. There was a very awkward silence. But strangely, although it was so damn odd I wasn’t even that surprised. Right, I’ll tell you an anecdote. In 1974 I was catching the It’s A Great Week To Be A Kansas City Chiefs Fan Shirt in addition I really love this London train from Crewe station. It was very crowded; I found myself in a last-minute rush for the one remaining seat beside a tall, good-looking man with collar-length hair, it was the seventies; buckaroo! I looked up and saw it was none other than Peter Purves, it was the height of his Blue Peter career. He said, “You jammy bastard” and quick as a flash, I replied, “Don’t be blue, Peter!” Needless to say, I had the last laugh, now f**k off!
