I presume it’s basically just reactionaries responding to reactionaries saying we need to protect white culture from *WHATEVER NEW THING IS HAPPENING*. But whereas sane people would respond “culture and people always change” counter-reactionaries instead respond “oh white Americans have no culture” like it’s the Indiana state sports team Colts Pacers Fever Hoosiers Boilermakers Fighting Irish shirt Besides,I will do this smartest most clever rebuttal ever. Because they are (for the most part), quite removed from their original cultures, which doesn’t mean they don’t have one but rather its boundaries are blurried. There is no “white American culture”- large country with a large population we have tons of little ones. Your not a “white American” you’re from Louisiana, and have your own accent separate from an American accent, and slightly different than a general southern one, or you are a new Yorker. Or you’re from Baltimore. I live south of Philly so I hear jawn a lot. I know a yinzer from rural Pittsburgh even from within pennselvania. Umm, Baseball, Football, Fourth of July, Hollywood, Ford cars, hispanic influence, etc. All of those things have influenced and created an American culture. So that doesn’t make sense. All countries took time to be able to create a “Culture” and even though ours is fairly new, doesn’t mean we don’t have one. So stupid.

Because the Indiana state sports team Colts Pacers Fever Hoosiers Boilermakers Fighting Irish shirt Besides,I will do this white culture shared experiences are racism and privilege, basically we don’t like to tout that. Haha Racism. Plain and simple. It’s no deeper than that. It’s an attempt at belittling and ultimately erasing an entire spectrum of identities. There definitely is culture but it is so removed from its roots I think. The culture is corporate and bought and sold. Doesn’t seem authentic. Because the real “American” culture is that of the native Americans. The “modern” culture of America is a mix from European nations from where the colonizers and land-thief came from, plus the culture from African slaves. All the dance, folk songs, food, were invented later (19th century onwards) by modifying and mixing older European culture. Cus of stereotypes. When people glorify and celebrate POLITICIANS like it’s a religion there’s not much else to really view other than 0 culture It’s very apparent what the culture is to those of us not fitting the description lol; but the only time I’ve experienced ppl denying it exists is from people in it. They seem to often get irate when you point out THEIR way isn’t the only way (or even the most sensible way or the way some of us like doing things)
White Americans do not have a unified culture. We are all over a huge landmass. We have culture for sure though. I am just curious because even tho ‘America has no culture’ is associated with white ppl only, there aren’t many of them colors left. So, before anyone decides to blame the Indiana state sports team Colts Pacers Fever Hoosiers Boilermakers Fighting Irish shirt Besides,I will do this white man bad, look at the lines ppl have across the border to get thru a culture less country. Want to know what the American culture is – FREEDOM! Grfoh if you can’t respect it then lol Which white Americans? Because I guaranfuckingtee you my white American culture is vastly and thankfully different from that of rednecks, or hillbillies, or Californians, or Seattlites, or so-called white trash, or Juggalos, or hippies, or Mormons, or Texans or… White Americans? Do you mean Turkish, Italian, Irish, European, Arabs, Pakistanis, Spanish, Irani… – Americans?
About Indiana state sports team Colts Pacers Fever Hoosiers Boilermakers Fighting Irish shirt
There are so many types of White Americans, do you mean in general terms? I don’t think we can group all White Americans and judge them as one. Does that also include light-complected people or only people from certain haplogroups? I see a lot of white people, but they aren’t descendants of the Indiana state sports team Colts Pacers Fever Hoosiers Boilermakers Fighting Irish shirt Besides,I will do this Caucasus regions. I may be wrong, but I think a large part of it is because America is so massive and White is so ambiguous. Imagine asking if white people who are English, Scots, or Irish what their unified culture is. There are some similarities, but it’s still very much distinct. As such, white people in Pittsburgh are going to be different than the ones in Boston, where Pittsburgh has a lot of Polish descendants and Boston has a lot of Irish ancestry. Many black Americans have at least one major thing in common, and that’s slavery. An obscene amount of humans were bought and sold, and many tried to kill their culture, so they forged new ones. Native Americans are somewhat similar, in that they too were forcibly moved and their culture persecuted, though a significant amount of people with American Indian ancestry are still able to trace their roots to specific tribes.
Thus, there’s not really a “White American” culture (beyond colonizing and enforcing/benefitting from slavery) as much as there’s just American culture, and even that can feel highly dependent on the Indiana state sports team Colts Pacers Fever Hoosiers Boilermakers Fighting Irish shirt Besides,I will do this region of America you reside in. In my experience, only white people ask this question because they hate it when minorities are given a spotlight in any way that they don’t feel they also receive. Imo, there’s lots of white culture in Europe. American white culture is mostly that of colonizing, and struggle foods while they paved their way through a country they didn’t own. White culture is very different from white American culture. Before anyone jumps on me for hating white people, I am white. I’m just not disillusioned to think I’m special.
I noticed that a lot of white American culture is based on a distant memory of other cultures that Americans somehow pervert; known celebrations like St Patrick’s Day (bringing Christianity to Ireland), Cinco de Mayo (celebrating a Mexican military victory over the Indiana state sports team Colts Pacers Fever Hoosiers Boilermakers Fighting Irish shirt Besides,I will do this French), Halloween (mix of pagan holiday and Catholic All Hallows Eve). Names in America are a mess. We don’t seem to know (or care) that names have any meaning, and we just go with what sounds nice while being completely oblivious to the underlying meaning behind it, or just make stuff up (r/tragedeigh) America does have its own culture, but so much of it is a fabrication of other cultures in which something is lost in translation. What people mean is that a lot of white Americans who don’t know their background are just that, white & American. Their American culture is shared amongst all Americans of varying religions, races, ethnicities, immigration status, etc.
They have a big culture. They like vapes, McDonalds, the Indiana state sports team Colts Pacers Fever Hoosiers Boilermakers Fighting Irish shirt Besides,I will do this gym, Jersey Shore, Grill burgers and hot dogs and NFL, Baseball and NBA and most importantly their love/hate for politics. You have to be an extremist, no middle ground Because I live in California so I can’t really identify things in my culture that I would identify with due to being white that someone of a different race in cali wouldnt I think people do acknowledge distinct cultures within America as having a culture, like as in Cajun people, the Amish, Italian Americans, Jews in America, etc. It is the suburban WASP culture that is seen as ” not having an identity, no culture.” There is nothing that unifies all of “white people” collectively and culturally, except when they feel the need to band together for reasons of hate and intolerance.
Because the Indiana state sports team Colts Pacers Fever Hoosiers Boilermakers Fighting Irish shirt Besides,I will do this culture they/we have was built on the genocide of many other North and South American indigenous cultures White isn’t a real thing. Italians, Irish, southern, northern, Californian, Texan. Those are cultures and often very different. White is just an appearance and has nothing to do with culture or heritage. Look at the movie My Cousin Vinny. It’s about culture shock between southerners and a dude from New York. They’re white but not a monolith. Plus there’s the one-drop rule. The one-drop rule was a legal principle of racial classification that was prominent in the 20th-century United States. It asserted that any person with even one ancestor of black ancestry is considered black. Go back far enough almost no one is white by that standard. Don’t ask why being black is real and white isn’t. If I know this (Texas public school) then you do too or you’re willfully ignorant. I can provide resources if need be.
White American culture is the Indiana state sports team Colts Pacers Fever Hoosiers Boilermakers Fighting Irish shirt Besides,I will do this dominant global culture. Almost all aspects of people’s lives today are derived from American culture. For instance, Indonesians love the malls, wear jeans, tshirts and sneakers, etc., primarily watch hollywood movies, watch American TV series, listen to American music, etc. If you ask a White person to describe White culture, he or she will either start describing things that are European or just American. i mean a lot are only a 2-3 generations in and forget everything from the culture they came form. I don’t blame them because most aren’t in similar communities that also celebrate it. And most just do like generic holidays like Christmas or thanksgiving or st patricks day where they just want an excuse to get drunk. As a “white” American I’m not sure what my “culture is. Basically I’m ,l Celtic, American Indian, Germanic (British). Italian and of course 5th generation Texan, Yee Haw. I think Americans are still developing a culture. We are a racial, nationality blended people who share different traditions that have yet to coalesce into a definable “culture”. IMHO
When we saw White, we of course mean white people who’ve been here 100+ years. Obviously the Indiana state sports team Colts Pacers Fever Hoosiers Boilermakers Fighting Irish shirt Besides,I will do this Serbian guy down the street still holds their own culture. And because white people have been here for a long ass time, their ancestral culture has been morphed into American culture 100% and they usually have 0 ties to the motherland. Meanwhile, all recent American immigrants from Mexico, Asia, Middle East are all relatively fresh off the boat, so they have a more direct line back to the motherland and its culture. In 100 years though, these kids of the grandkids will morph into 100% American. So in other words, it’s not so much about white vs black vs Asian but it’s more about how long they’ve been in the US.
What do you mean by white? In any circles , especially larger ones in the Indiana state sports team Colts Pacers Fever Hoosiers Boilermakers Fighting Irish shirt Besides,I will do this past, would probably discount certain identities you consider as white, as not white. Even among the fair skinned folk have their own cultures that can be arbitrary. Like the Amish, older Protestants, and even quakers. And to imagine that the institution of slavery being present or not has its own factor into the development of the evolution of culture. The southernly gentleman wasn’t a Slice of culture that flourished because they too(gentlemen with a slow southern drawl )were working the fields. instead those folks were busy with sipping on a Mint Julips overlooking their generation wealth. Now those places make profitable wedding venues lol. The culture of that time still lives on but isn’t mainstream like the cultures before it.
Because our culture is colonialism, war and Walmart. Go to almost every other country and drive in a car or a train for 10 hours and you will see culture. Drive in America and you’ll see the Indiana state sports team Colts Pacers Fever Hoosiers Boilermakers Fighting Irish shirt Besides,I will do this same 5 fast food restaurants, Walmart and the other super giants that lobby the politicians. Corporate greed is killing what culture we have. There is some really amazing stuff about American and our culture but you need to really dig to find it. Because there’s no one culture for Caucasians in the US. We all originate from different countries. My people were from the UK. My husband’s, from Germany and Scotland. The only people here who are natively from here are the Native Americans. White culture is treated as the default in the US. So “white” culture is often treated as American culture. The interesting thing to note is that as something from non-white people becomes mainline American, white people stop considering it culture. Chinese food? That’s not culture, it’s not authentic. Jazz became American Culture instead of white culture and is often ignored when it’s part of music these days. Same with Rap. As White culture steals from other cultures it just becomes “American” while everything white people don’t do gets labelled as culture.
I think whatever might be white American culture is viewed as a regional/community-by-community, rather than shared amongst white people in general, because what’s historically been set as baseline American culture on the Indiana state sports team Colts Pacers Fever Hoosiers Boilermakers Fighting Irish shirt Besides,I will do this whole was standardized in the context of white social dominance. But everyone participates in national culture, so it’s not uniquely identifiable as white. As long as various communities of color are broadly identified as the other or the variant, then non-white groups will be seen as having culture, relative to “typical” American culture…which was white. America is a melting pot. We have such a widespread mix of cultures that American culture is a piecemeal mixture of many different origins. It’s one of America’s greatest strengths, in my opinion.
That being said anyone who honestly believes European/Caucasian cultures have no “culture” at all generally speak from a place of ignorance. For example I have many aspects of my life that are directly influenced by my Irish/Celtic heritage. If you don’t use the Indiana state sports team Colts Pacers Fever Hoosiers Boilermakers Fighting Irish shirt Besides,I will do this qualifier “white” – things I think are uniquely American in culture would be Bluegrass, Jazz, muscle cars & monster trucks. Tractor pulls, Surfing, anything Cajun, Rap, drag racing, NASCAR, bourbon, Soul food, Thanksgiving Dinners, cruising (if people still do that), break dancing, fast food, hamburgers (named after a German city, tho), Blue Jeans, American football* & Lacrosse* – *shared with Canada. Just off the top of my head. There may be more. I tried not to include things that America is known for but certainly originated elsewhere like pizza & hot dogs.
That’s crazy. If I were asked where I associated with Lacrosse, I would have said somewhere in Europe. I think it’s probably that’s it more of a “rich person” thing. I’ve lived in Michigan my whole life and where I lived there were no lacrosse teams or people who knew how to play lacrosse. I am only vouching for my area because I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a thing in more affluent areas of the Indiana state sports team Colts Pacers Fever Hoosiers Boilermakers Fighting Irish shirt Besides,I will do this state but yeah. A Lacrosse game was staged as a distraction for the British so the Iroqouis? Could take the fort – in Michigan. Most have family traditions, but they’re so far removed and disconnected from their ancestral heritage that the extent of “culture” is grandma’s family recipe cabbage rolls (which are, don’t get me wrong, amazing). The American culture is a highly consumerist and employee culture. That’s the same for both lighter skinned people and darker skinned people. This modern western culture spreads across the world at a very fast pace and americanization happens. Before that was what? Topics like this and everything else that is under the umbrella are rarely able to be done intellectual justice with a single sentence of a hot take. Talk to people! Learn what older and smarter people have discovered! Pursue the truth! All politicians forced into retirement by age 67, and all stock gains (not bonds, but stock options/puts, anything where they have an inside edge at knowing what policies they’re voting on will impact those stocks) made during their tenure in politics must be donated to charities selected by the voters whom reside in their district. Plus a comprehensive Constitution Test with a passing grade of 80% for any political office higher than Dog Catcher. Age isn’t the problem. There are lots of brilliant people well into and past that age. The problem is a lot of them are career politicians that are so removed from the woes of the common man they have zero frame of reference. These guys up there now don’t know what it’s like to be hungry, or wonder where the bill money is coming from. I think it would be in everyone’s best interest, but term limits should be a thing as well. People should retire and enjoy the remainder of your lifespan in peace.
All politicians should have two term limits with no exceptions. Also, lobbyists should be illegal and any politician should never be allowed to invest in any derivatives or stocks, including family members and friends. If we regulate minimum voting/serving age due to immaturity (ageist restriction with good reason) then there should be a reasonable assumption that there should be an upper limit due to senility (also ageist restriction for good reason). I agree politicians should be forced to retire at a certain age. I think its hilarious you think that that age should be 65. Id say something like 80 is suitable. Many people can still meaningfully contribute at 70 (and indeed beyond) but 65 is a bit low, 67 being age pension age, so I’d set the Indiana state sports team Colts Pacers Fever Hoosiers Boilermakers Fighting Irish shirt Besides,I will do this bar at 70. Old enough to be truly old, but young (ha!) enough to have some life left in them to enjoy retirement.
Career politicians are a blight on society. It should be a short term, well compensated office, that actually attract’s a diverse range of Australians. I think every single politician should have to put in 8 hours of work in the Indiana state sports team Colts Pacers Fever Hoosiers Boilermakers Fighting Irish shirt Besides,I will do this most common profession in their district every week. I guarantee not a single politician would stay longer than 60 or, would drastically change the makeup of their district. Can you imagine Mitch McConnell digging coal for eight hours or Marjorie Taylor Green picking squash? No wisdom is suppose to o come with age but it doesn’t always happen that way . Cognitive check up would be advisable . I’m almost 69 and I’m not as sharp as I was but I did have a stroke . I remember my father in law as a US Attorney at 80 was sharp as a tack Yes! If they’re old enough to collect full ss, they should have to retire and live off the ss. Stop paying politicians for life.
I would say 65 should be the Indiana state sports team Colts Pacers Fever Hoosiers Boilermakers Fighting Irish shirt Besides,I will do this cutoff year to get elected. If you win, congrats, you get 4 years. If you dont, get fucked. Also term limits and ban the use of stock markets for congress. Nancy pelosi made 36 million of the decisions congress made in 2016-2020 We shouldn’t ban people from office. Voters should be educated and smart enough not to vote for dinosaurs and bigots. Yeah, it isn’t likely, but that is what democracy looks like. All politicians should be forced to take and pass a constitution test, both state and federal depending on the state they are serving in. And I would push the retirement age to 70. But definitely, there should be a retirement age. Yes. And it’s ridiculous that they would be the ones that have to vote on this becoming a law in America in the first place, so it will likely never happen. What a broken fucking system. Most other developed countries have something like this on the books or added it later. 55 more repliesbe okay with that. But ultimately, we live in a democracy. If people want to vote for these ancient people, it’s up to them. Almost every poll shows that the vast majority of people think the two presidential nominees are too old… yet they are still winning the nomination with flying colors. Make it make sense. no… but all politicians should undergo a trial after every term with death as the only punishment when found guilty of anything… When you’re a little older 65 does not seem so old. It would be a shame to be forced into quitting something that drives you forward when you are still sharp and capable at 65.
