There is a sizeable portion of the In May Blue Huntington’S Awareness Rainbow Leopard T-Shirt and I will buy this population that really does not want to take vaccines (they may resist other medical interventions as well, but vaccines are the only commonly mandated intervention). There is also a sizeable portion of the population who, while they may take the vaccines themselves, are leery of state health mandates (“my body, my choice”). It would be a bad idea to actually force vaccine-hesitant people to take vaccines. When you back people into a corner (“we’re going to arrest you, limit your ability to move, fire you from your job”), they get dangerous. Even from a pro-vaccine / herd immunity standpoint, the benefits of getting every straggler are just not worth it. So religious exemptions are a way of saying “we really strongly encourage you to get this, but if you really, really won’t budge, here’s your out.”
In May Blue Huntington’S Awareness Rainbow Leopard T-Shirt: A Unique and Creative Design
We landed on religious exemptions, as opposed to conscience / strongly held belief exemptions or some other scheme for creating a safety valve, mostly because the In May Blue Huntington’S Awareness Rainbow Leopard T-Shirt and I will buy this US has a robust “freedom of exercise” jurisprudence that this issue could fit into, even though many people who refuse vaccines do not do so for religious reasons. A big picture way of looking at this: In our society, we view most things as choices. Choices are negotiable and you can pressure someone to make a different choice. But we view some things as identities, and identities are not negotiable. We view it as cruel and pointless to try to force someone to change their identity. Religious exemptions are a way for people to declare that their stance on vaccines is a non-negotiable identity issue.
Some vaccines have animal derived products in, often from pigs, and some religions have reservations (can’t think of a better word) about pork products. The problem here is that the In May Blue Huntington’S Awareness Rainbow Leopard T-Shirt and I will buy this “religious exemption” comes from a place of separation of church and state. That is, it only works when the church “renders unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s” (i.e., when religions accept that in order for society to function, religion has to stay in its lane). Once you started with priests and rabbis and imams and whatnot dictating political policy and demanding politicians do X or Y, the mechanism — one of protection for weak, powerless religions — broke. In New York, for instance, the Orthodox wield enormous power politically. The New York Times, just within the last year, reported on a phenomenon that had been going on for DECADES: the yeshivas (the Jewish schools that they send their children to) aren’t teaching these kids shit about the real world. Science, math, etc., are nearly completely absent. This has been a known problem for decades. (The Village Voice ran a great article about 15 years ago about the gay yeshiva student who left home at 18 and ended up becoming a bartender, and he was very frank about how he couldn’t do math, didn’t know the earth went around the sun, etc. “We were never taught any of that at the yeshiva.”) But trying to tackle the issue was political suicide. That the New York Times finally got up the guts to report it? When I saw the paper I thought, “Oh, man. The Times must have secret information about how the world’s about to end. They’re actually doing heavy journalism again.”

About this In May Blue Huntington’S Awareness Rainbow Leopard T-Shirt
And it was like this with the In May Blue Huntington’S Awareness Rainbow Leopard T-Shirt and I will buy this Catholic Church for decades, too. Look up the Boston Phoenix articles on child molestation that the Boston Globe finally noticed and turned into some major awards. Again, because religions are powerful. Freedom of religion is respected as long as the rights of the individual are not impinging on the welfare of the group. An individual has a right to refuse a blood transfusion, for example. But does a parent have the right to refuse chemo for their minor child? Often, the courts rule no. In the case of vaccines, virulence matters. Smallpox vaccination was mandatory. There was much discussion about the right approach with COVID at the time. The government opted to allow the free market to apply the pressure (vaccination status required to return to corporate jobs, for example), since the virulence of COVID dropped significantly after initial vaccination. If it hadn’t…we might have seen something different. A man is stranded on the roof of his house during a flood. Rescuers arrive in a boat and offer to take him to safety. The man refuses, saying, “God will save me.”
Thank you, as a Christian who gets annoyed by my fellow Christians doing this kind of thing, I really enjoyed that little parable. OP didn’t ask why it’s allowed. He asked why it’s a thing. If you want to interpret that as meaning why it’s allowed, you’re allowed to post your own answer. They don’t understand that vaccines are a gift from God and that pharmaceutical companies do this for good and not profit. Vaccines actually cost the In May Blue Huntington’S Awareness Rainbow Leopard T-Shirt and I will buy this pharmaceutical companies money. And everyone of them have been proven to do exactly what they claim they are supposed to do. So the only reason they would not take it is because they actually hate God. Government in the US has typically shied away from the excesses of religion, likely due to that “free practice thereof” business. So it’s not just vaccinations…. The government has been reluctant to go after fraudulent faith healers and similar con-men.
When James Randi exposed Peter Popoff for the In May Blue Huntington’S Awareness Rainbow Leopard T-Shirt and I will buy this fraud he was…. No one was willing to prosecute him for stealing large sums of money from his victims. Personally, I think that crosses the line when these people endanger others. I see we already have a measles outbreak in Florida…. A disease that should have disappeared long ago. If it was just the idiot refusing to be vaccinated, well good for you…. Here’s your Darwin Award. But it’s not. Assuming we’re talking USA, yeah, it’s the First Amendment freedom of religion. Historically speaking, one could understand that there wasn’t a lot of harm in a relatively insular religious community opting out of something like this, but it does create a lot of problems – it’s not like viruses in particular care about one’s religion.
Because church is the In May Blue Huntington’S Awareness Rainbow Leopard T-Shirt and I will buy this biggest money maker in existence. The powers that be will pander to anything the make believers want because they get paid. Why do you think there are so many churches. Religious freedom is guaranteed in our Constitution – as much as some people hate our Constitution when it doesn’t meet their “fad” political beliefs of the day or decade. Religious freedom and protections was a leading basis in the formation of our country and instrumental to it’s success and growth. The amount of religions that have a theological objection to vaccines is a pretty small list. Specific to Christianity, those would be congregations like Dutch Reformed Congregations, Faith Tabernacle, Church of the First Born, Faith Assembly, End Time Ministries. Not congregations that would have numbers that would be statistically significant when talking about thresholds for herd immunity (see details). But ensuring that those congregation have the right to be exempt (at least in the US) is a right enshrined in the Constitution.
The bigger problem probably comes down to the In May Blue Huntington’S Awareness Rainbow Leopard T-Shirt and I will buy this people that have let an anti-vaccine ideology override their own religious convictions. I look at my own faith and it is as pro-vaccine as you can get. There have been consistent, published direction on getting vaccinated for as long as that has been a thing–but I saw people during the pandemic getting sucked into “research” and anti-vaccine ideologies and basically ignoring the council of people they sustain as leaders of their religion. It was interesting and alarming to watch. These folks are the ones that make a growing segment of the population that threatens that herd immunity. So I think it is better to turn your ire to the ideologies and not the religions themselves.
Depends on country, such exemptions may not exist at all. More or less the In May Blue Huntington’S Awareness Rainbow Leopard T-Shirt and I will buy this only place I’ve heard having them is the US. According to Wikipedia, the American Indian Religious Freedom Act Amendments of 1994 protect the harvest, possession, consumption, and cultivation of peyote for “bona fide religious ceremonies”. There are exemptions because some religions have very specific rules and when adults choose to follow those rules the government has a policy of respecting that. Christianity broadly speaking does not have these rules outside of “Christian scientists” but many Christians abuse the system to get their way because they are antivaxxers for personal reasons. In certain areas the vaccination rate for measles is already low enough that herd immunity is compromised and the virus can pass between people and infect people who are unvaccinated for legitimate reasons like being too young or immunocompromised While imo this would stand constitutional scrutiny without the exception sometimes people pass laws with exceptions that they don’t want in order to either get the law passed or for fear it will be struck down without the exception.
My answer is “I don’t know”. If God is above country for you, your country has a right to put itself above your god. Also you don’t give a rat’s ass about others Jehovah Witness believe nothing should be put into your body. They will let their children die from not getting a blood transfusion sometimes. I personally think being anti vaxx is stupid. BUT it’s not my place to infringe upon people’s personal beliefs. If we start violating that, then what’s next? Religious exemption is just wrong. What’s even more wrong is allowing someone to scream “religious exemption” like Michael Scott screaming “I declare bankruptcy!” and getting away with it. If, for example, you are a practicing Catholic, you should not be able to get a religious exemption for the In May Blue Huntington’S Awareness Rainbow Leopard T-Shirt and I will buy this simple reason Catholic dogma does not prohibit vaccinations. Religion does not even come into play here. It seems like you got good answers already, but i have to ask: Is “stare the pot” an intentional mistake, a typo, or did you mishear it? I kinda love the misinterpretation of “stir the pot” but I wanted to know if you did that on purpose. It is honestly beyond asinine how this is allowed. Okay so now we break down herd immunity because some lady whose religion prohibits vaccines allows her kids to attend public school and be around the public? What could go wrong? Looking at you Florida and your outbreak of measles. The safety of the public must be paramount to the delusions and idiocy of people like vax deniers and religious nut jobs. Fine keep your unvaccinated child but no public services for you.
I highly recommend the In May Blue Huntington’S Awareness Rainbow Leopard T-Shirt and I will buy this book Bad Faith by Dr. Paul Offit. He grapples with the religious exemption issue with tact and sound science. The reason why there are religious exemptions is because once a religious person has it in their mind to reists, the only way you are going to force them is through crucifixion. Religious people are the most difficult for the government to conquer. Especially if that religion has their main idol, the idol they follow, crucified for speaking the truth. Human beings have a choice, always. The moment you try and take it from them, they will do everything in their power to show they still have that choice. The religious people who see their flesh as only a vessel will even give up their lives.
People were allowed to claim their religious books that are thousands of years old have something to say about vaccines. Herd immunity can usually account for the In May Blue Huntington’S Awareness Rainbow Leopard T-Shirt and I will buy this people who are both unable to take the vaccine for health reasons as well as the people who don’t want to for whatever reason. A lot of religious beliefs surrounding medical issues can sound crazy, denying vaccines, blood transfusions, necessary surgeries. At the end of the day though, making them do it looks a lot worse. If we force people to take life-saving medicine against their will, then they could use the same logic to force you to do basically anything. We all deserve bodily autonomy even if their reasoning is rooted in a magic ghost being mad at them. I don’t mind there being religious exemptions for vaccinations as long as the students are properly quarantined (meaning not at school) during every single outbreak until the outbreak is over + incubation period has passed + doctor indicating no evidence of infection. We use Yondr pouches and they’ve made such a big difference. I’m so happy I don’t have to fight with kids over their phones anymore. And they don’t seem to miss them either.
My district is massive, but I really wish this would be a nationwide initiative. It’s way past time we realize the In May Blue Huntington’S Awareness Rainbow Leopard T-Shirt and I will buy this negatives that phones have created. I’m really curious how this is implemented in your district. Do students bring them with them? Or do they get them when they arrive? What if students don’t comply? I forgot to add–teachers are expected to keep their cells away too. We show the kids it can be done. We show them if you’re doing it well do it too. They appreciate that. They bring them with them. We stop every student at the door and watch them put them in the pouch. If they forget their pouch we give them a velcro one. If they say they don’t have a phone and then we see it during the day parents have to come get it and they serve a Saturday.
So really we don’t care where the In May Blue Huntington’S Awareness Rainbow Leopard T-Shirt and I will buy this phone is as long as it’s away. Most kids put it in the pouch but the ones who hide their phone don’t ever take it out bc they don’t want a Saturday or to be embarrassed. It works. Its the same thing. A kid with a dummy phone who then uses an actual phone will get a Saturday and have their phone taken for the day. No kid wants to serve a Saturday. Well this is the real debate. Kids will always defy rules. I’m not even bothered by it, I expect it. It’s the lack of follow through that’s the issue. We have no phones during school hours, including lunch/recess, and it’s going pretty well. Some kids will sneak off to their locker or hide the phone in their coat pocket, but if caught, there are clear consequences (write up, and if there are repeated incidences, it’s a detention and parents are contacted), so it isn’t abused too much.
I’m at a private school that has never allowed phones, smart watches, etc. If we see a phone out in the In May Blue Huntington’S Awareness Rainbow Leopard T-Shirt and I will buy this building at any time, we take it and it goes to the office. I’ve only had to do that once and it was a new student. It works great. We still have trouble monitoring Chromebook use but on days when I don’t use Chromebooks, there are zero tech monitoring issues. lol not sure what you’re getting at here. It’s a shame that some kids come from schools that let them do whatever they want That’s my point, they probably were unaware they were doing anything wrong – so why would your priority be enforcement instead of education? You could’ve warned them and told them to put it away, instead you seized it from them and marched them to the office. What a great way to start their first day/week.
Weird of you to assume that isn’t exactly what happened but ok. Also at no point was the In May Blue Huntington’S Awareness Rainbow Leopard T-Shirt and I will buy this student in the office, nor was it her first day or week Wow I’m blown away seeing what some districts do I’m so jealous. If I can threaten to hand phones over to the office my life would be so much easier. My school’s phone policy is “turned off and out of sight”. It is AWESOME! If we see it or it goes off we can take it and turn it over to the office. Ultimately, we don’t deal with discipline over phones; the office deals with the parents/guardians and the consequences. Most of us don’t take them unless the student is caught consistently on their phone. If I hear a phone, I remind students of the rule and give them time to check to make sure their phones are silent. I also typically give students a warning the first time I catch them on their phone. If students need to use their phone to call or text a parent/guardian, all they have to do and 99% of the time they are given permission.
Our school has a lockbox. Students place phones there in the In May Blue Huntington’S Awareness Rainbow Leopard T-Shirt and I will buy this morning. we have been told “If you don’t see it don’t search for it” however if the phone is taken after the morning it goes to admin and their parents have to get it. I almost didn’t believe how bad phones were but I do afterschool and they’re allowed to have them. They “Can’t be on them” but have them. It’s a constant issue. I’m talking kids will beg to do an activity and then be on the phone. On Fridays they go to the gym and they will still sit in groups by the outlets and sit on their phones. I’m so glad my district has such a strict ban. It does make me anxious being responsible for phones but in my opinion the point isn’t to make the kids turn the phones in, but rather be better at hiding them. Our district said “no cell phones or headphones, etc in class” I get cussed out regularly. I have kids vandalize things in front of me in response.
MS here The expectation is that a phone is in the In May Blue Huntington’S Awareness Rainbow Leopard T-Shirt and I will buy this locker from before HR until the end of the day. The ones who do not follow the policy are those who are new. And eventually follow the policy. We have yondr pouches but the kids figured out to break them open day 2. Now they’re constantly banging them on lockers and desks, or they’ve bent the pin, bought magnets, or figured out how to literally pull it apart. They’re super useless and I’d rather just have a phone policy that worked and was consistent. We have a phone chart and collect phones. They just put them in the pocket matching their desk number when they enter. It works wonders. I wish my last school did this. I do worry about a phone disappearing one day, but it hasn’t happened yet and security insists that if it does we just call them and they will take care of it (security at our school is pretty strict and gets their stuff done). My school banned cell phones. I can only speak to my class but it’s going fine. Every now and then, a student will ask if they can use their phone to text their parents, and I’ve never had reason to say no.
