I put some headphones on with some meditation music (I just searched YouTube for something that suited) to stop me hearing something and getting distracted. I found this much easier to calm yourself afterwards. Regarding the thoughts, that took me a lot of time and practice to keep them at bay. Everyone has their method but I would simply tell myself each time something popped in that I am trying to meditate so I need to think about that later, not now. It’s just a case of reprogramming your thought process, you’ll brain will eventually get it. You’ll find what works for you but just be patient and practice as often as you can.
