Wait, what phone doesn’t? My Galaxy S5 is still going strong. Pixel 1 too. And currently using Pixel 3. No sign of obsoletity. I dropped that phone so many times and the only thing that ever broke was the protective glass in front of the camera lens. The camera still worked but the lens was always a little dirty. I always wonder why PCs can get the latest updates for years and years with a million different hardware configurations but they fail to deliver android updates after a year or so. I guess Android is built with 2005 memory in mind where there was not enough storage for multiple drivers and what not. It turned out that limiting updates increases sales and they stuck with it. It’s crazy how some people have to get the latest and greatest. I think most people don’t have the money to upgrade every year. I know some phone plans include an upgrade feature every 2-3 years but I typically upgrade mine when I need a new one for another reason. Last time it was because I left my phone on top of the car and drove off.

They aren’t lasting because we cant build them to last, but because companies want you to buy a new one every year I’m 3 years into my s10+, dropped it close to 100 times, the I’m a Grumpy Old Man I Was Born In July Skull Shirt Besides,I will do this battery is still solid and it shows no signs of slowing down. I think we might be approaching that mark already. I have a spare phone that still works fine, and I know it’s more than 5 years old. So no clue where this statement is coming from. Why is everyone defending these multinational corporations that abuse their power and perform child labour? They’re built to break it’s a fucking fact. I’m still currently using my iPhone 6s. I’ve had to replace the battery twice and the screen a couple of times (but those are on me) and I haven’t felt a need to upgrade yet. Your phone absolutely can last 5 years. I used the chase the new phone high for iPhone 4, 5, 6, etc. I’m still using my XS Max since it came out because there is literally no reason to upgrade anymore. Planning on replacing the battery to keep it going for years to come, or until something comes out that actually makes me want to upgrade. A few years ago I had to buy a new phone but money was tight si I went to check out the cheaper offering at the store, and ended up choosing an entry level Oppo. It was great for the price on paper, nice oled screen, battery, even the camera wasn’t so bad. Bought it new for something like 280€.
