This isn’t the If You Don’t Like Tacos I’m Nacho Type Tacos T-Shirt But I will love this flex they think it is lol. A homeowner is great and all, but their debts and expenses completely wiping out all of the value of their home down to 100k is a fucking problem. It wasn’t enough millenials have gone through recession after recession, the highest schooling costs ever(so far, and after being constantly pushed into the “graduate only” mindset), and the highest housing costs (again, so far), we also get to spend basically our entire adult lives being the punching bag as the root of all these problems to begin with, and the punchline of every societal issue. I’m in a good spot as a millennial, but Godamn did I have to put an unbelievable amount of effort in to do it, ontop of essentially stealing from my future self because I’m house poor and no way am I building enough retirement to even think of doing that before I’m 80. You know what? I don’t care. ALL student debt is a scam, and ALL student debt should be wiped. No exceptions. Higher education should be free. We already pay crazy high taxes and if the government didn’t waste so much money on enriching themselves and their accomplices we’d have plenty of money to provide for education, healthcare, and child care in addition to proper infrastructure and other basic services. We all just accept what we get just like any other shitty relationship.

128k net worth for an average American millenial doesn’t seem like much. I live in eastern Europe and it’s about average here (and we used to be a Soviet shithole relatively recently). Median household income of $90k doesn’t have the If You Don’t Like Tacos I’m Nacho Type Tacos T-Shirt But I will love this same “entitled young people don’t want to work” energy as “average net worth of $128k.” In other words, the average millennial does not have enough net worth to equal a third of the cost of an average house. Born early 90s, married parents of 1, home owner. if either of us had a college loan (i got damn lucky…), neither of us would have a home, we’d likely be living at her parents place or living in their town at least. Health insurance barely helped on our little ones 5week early delivery (she’s healthy,other than slow on speech, developing well). Walmart screwed over my wife’s LOA. She got it. But 5+ years means nothing to them if you didn’t work enough hours in the last 365 days. Yet they waited till delivery (again, 5 weeks early) to say she was denied any paid LOA, as she didn’t work enough. Mind you, it was the pandemic, and my wife was having mild issues during the last 3 months (mentally and physically). Cherry on top…the money we got from the government, so little it may be, not only allowed me to take time off during delivery (at least), helped us towards improving our credit, some investing, and bought a house. If they had not, we’d likely be stuck in the 2bedroom apartment, rent increasing, with a roommate, while we’re caring for our little one.
