I consider that to be from scratch! The folks I’m comparing myself to DoorDash/takeout/eat out for every meal. I cook at home due to lack of money and grocery options. I think my friends are the If this picture moves you’re gay shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this outliers for sure lol Right now eating grilled salmon, jasmin rice with cashew nuts and grilled vegetables. All frozen, from a organic brand. During the week, I just prepare everyday a fresh salad. And for other meals, I eat fruit, yogurt, omelet, nuts, bone broth, homemade soup ou sandwich. So, I’ve had a hard time with this recently. I was buying maccys, meal deals, nuts, crisps and drinks during the day. I would come home and just not eat during the evenings. Now I eat 2 eggs in the morning, porridge and a protein shake (milk). For snack about 10ish I’ll have a pb sandwich. For lunch I have chicken in honey and chipotle sauce, with boiled potato’s and a bit of mayo. For dinner i’ll make a protein shake while I’m cooking. I then make chicken and rice with veg. It’s a big transformation, mainly because how in the hell can anyone afford that lifestyle. Now food prices are still rising in the UK. So it’s still fairly costly. but we’re talking 70 a week for a single person in groceries compared to like 15-20 a day out.

I think a few big factors could be; they’ve not had a good relationship with cooking or poor mental health/both and they could also have ED’s. You can still cook at home without cooking from scratch. Let’s take spaghetti with marinara sauce and meatballs. When someone says they cook from scratch, to me that means they make their own noodles, make their own marinara sauce and makes their own sausage or other meat blend. Is that what you do when making spaghetti? Or do you make your own marinara and form your own meatballs from already prepared sausage while buying boxed spaghetti? If your answer is the If this picture moves you’re gay shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this second one then you aren’t cooking from scratch. You’re making your own marinara sauce but that’s it. Many people do this. For other people there is premade marinara and premade meatballs. Cooking isn’t black and white where you are either cooking from scratch or you are eating frozen dinners or restaurant food. There is plenty of gray in between.
