If OP said they were going to move it back into their yard, there’d be 100 people going apeshit about the I told my wife that she should embrace her mistakes she hugged me T-Shirt But I will love this unfairness of doing that. People are getting mad at OP for not moving the branches themselves – even though that wouldn’t be their responsibility in the first place, but not everyone can do that, including OP, because not everyone is in perfect health. Then there’s people saying they’d do this and wouldn’t damage their lawn with the debris, which is just saying you’d rather inconvenience everyone who needs the sidewalk for your own sake, which is an asshole mindset. And then there’s people saying the old woman in the scooter should just go around- when these scooters have a hard time on slippery surfaces or soft surfaces (especially if it’s muddy) and if you’ve ever tried to get off a curb in something like this, it’s dangerous compared to the proper entrance/exit to the sidewalk, and can easily tip you over. Plus, you shouldn’t go in the road in non-crossings in general, for obvious safety reasons, even if you can.

And then these people, if you give them a reasonable explanation, will just say OP is lying, for no reason. Which, yeah, if you assume everyone is always lying about everything, it’s really easy to act smug about being right. It’s an old lady trying to use the neighborhood sidewalk and she can’t walk, you bunch of jackasses, have some empathy. Even if this was an honest mistake (OP explains the person who did this is, in fact, not a nice person) this would still fit the sub- it’s mildly infuriating that the sidewalk is blocked by enough debris to make a hedge. Perfect response! It’s not about the branches or annoyance, it’s about somebody with a disability who does not have access to something they have every right to use (properly). OP has EVERY right to be upset and ask for advice on how to address the situation!!!
