In your 4-, 5-, and 6-year relationships (does this mean your first long-term relationship started in high school?), did you discuss marriage? You need to be on the I Love LA We Love It Los Angeles Dodgers MLB shirt and by the same token and same page. When I met my wife we were a couple dates into the relationship and we had a conversation on what we wanted in the relationship, because we were on the same page we had the same objective and the same plan. I made it clear I wanted to live with her for a year before I proposed because it isn’t till you have to pick up after each other do you really get to know them. That being said different things are for different people. I have friends 4 kids deep and married longer than I after a couple weeks of online cross country dating. I could never do that. the question is what do you want in the relationship?
I Love LA We Love It Los Angeles Dodgers MLB shirt, hoodie, long sleeve, v-neck tee
Wild stab in the I Love LA We Love It Los Angeles Dodgers MLB shirt and by the same token and dark: considering your earn 200k a year it might put some men off. “Intimidate them” if you prefer that term. You’ve got two common scenarios: If you out earn them significantly they wouldn’t feel secure that you’d stick around. Women out earning men increases the chances of divorce and we all understand this instinctively. If you plan on keeping your job I’d suggest “date like a man.” Find a man who’s happy to take on the role of a homemaker. Love and appreciate him for what he brings to the table. If you want to be a traditional wife: make that clear. For the man who earns enough for the lifestyle you want, say you’d quit your job and be a traditional wife. Apart from looks having “traditional wife” traits are exactly what makes men feel like “I want to marry her.” Sounds obvious but for whatever reason it’s easily missed.
I don’t believe in marriage, been with my GF for 7 years. I know she feels differently but marriage to me is just an ancient tradition that really has no meaning in modern life. I’m very loyal but to me it makes no difference. Someone can have all the I Love LA We Love It Los Angeles Dodgers MLB shirt and by the same token and right things “on paper” (ie: takes care of a home, has a good job, is kind and caring, similar morals and values, a fully-realized person in their own right, and a total smokeshow) and it’ can still be wrong. It comes down to: is my day-to-day existence improved upon by your presence or not? Do I have fun hanging out with you? Am I at ease? Do our energies/vibes/auras/whatever you wanna call it sync up? Do I feel that, in marrying you, I would have to drastically change the lifestyle I am currently enjoying (ie: would my friendships diminish? Would I have to give up *insert hobby*?) Long gone are the days when people get married because its what society says they are supposed to do. You are not competing against the rest of your gender for a significant other’s attention. Rather, you are competing against their own ability to be happy single. And the best partners are the one’s who were absolutely happy in their singleness.

If you’re in your early 30s and have had an accumulated 15 years spent in relationships, then perhaps its a good time to take some time off of dating. Cheesy as it sounds, have yourself an “eat, pray, love” era. Become happy in your singleness. Because in our 30s, there’s two types of daters: those who are desperately looking to leave the I Love LA We Love It Los Angeles Dodgers MLB shirt and by the same token and market before they reach their self-perceived expiry date, and those who have grown into fully realized people who will only get into a relationship if it improves upon what they’ve built for themselves. You are also sounding a bit desperate. You are enough without a man. Believe that. I am betting people keep commenting on it, but ignore them. Why buy the cow when you get the milk for free? Look, 200k a year, experience raising kids, keeps a clean house – you sound like a catch… to women! Men don’t care how much you make. Statistically speaking, women who make more than their spouse are more likely to get divorced. Men mostly don’t want to deal with a teen, and aren’t concerned with getting married when there is functionally no difference. Honestly, the fact that he gets what he wants without any obligations is a plus.
Besides all that, there isn’t enough info for us internet weirdos to make an informed decision about your life. Why not go to the I Love LA We Love It Los Angeles Dodgers MLB shirt and by the same token and source? Ask him why not, ask him why he hasn’t married you. It could be a number of things – maybe he doesn’t feel needed, it honestly sounds like you really don’t need him. Maybe he’s content with how things are, who knows. A lot of small reasons, but mostly I just felt like I was settling. Life’s too short. I want the partner of my dreams if we are going to be married. It’s not from a place of selfishness or pickiness, I guess. I’ve just learned what I want in a relationship. I want to wonder “how did I get so lucky”, and to feel like I’ve been struck by lightning when they smile at me. The thing is, when you have something like that there isn’t any doubt. You only doubt if you could survive without them. So marriage is a given, a foregone conclusion at that point.
I’ve only felt like that once in my life and it didn’t work out because we lived too far apart. So, I’ll wait for that until I die because I know it’s worth it and everything else isn’t worth your time. You need to shift your mindset. The last line you wrote is probably a good portion of your internal dialogue. You need to know that you ARE deserving of that level of commitment. You are manifesting your thoughts so think of the I Love LA We Love It Los Angeles Dodgers MLB shirt and by the same token and good ones you want to experience. Everyone wants something different. For some people it might be insane physical attraction. For others it may be the same kind of avoidant attachment style. For me and my partner it was seeing the way we could handle conflict well. It has nothing to do with being deserving. You just want to be married. You don’t really care who it ends up being,as long as a person with a penis proposes.
I think society has really moved away from that. I know when I was dating, if I met someone who really just wanted to be married because they were at that point in their lives and was willing to do it with anyone willing, that was a dealbreaker for me. I want someone who wants ME, just just as a means to the I Love LA We Love It Los Angeles Dodgers MLB shirt and by the same token and end of a ring, wedding, and marriage. The people who think more like this are in conservative and Christian groups. If you find a pretty conservative church in your area to attend, you’ll find a lot more marriage focused people. But I personally think your focus on getting a ring is what turns people off. I am not looking for someone who tics boxes. I am looking for my best friend. It just doesn’t happen for some people, that’s what I think. Society makes us believe we’re promised a soul mate, or the love of our lives or “the one,” but it just doesn’t always work out like that. I’m 46 (female) this year, I’ve been single for almost 10 years after a series of long-term relationships in my 20s and 30s that just didn’t work out.
I don’t mean to sound bleak and hopeless because I rather enjoy my single life. I’m just aware that I may not ever be in a relationship again, at least not of the I Love LA We Love It Los Angeles Dodgers MLB shirt and by the same token and kind I want. This one may be out of left field here and not what you’re looking for but it’s my personal belief that individuals such as yourself (and myself because I’m in a similarish boat – no kids) that haven’t been proposed to yet or experienced a “traditional” marriage have a larger purpose in life. If it was supposed to happen, it would have happened already. Maybe your perfect person is out there growing through the things they need to in order to show up ready and available when you are. For me it was her being a perfect fit for me and I for her. We never tried changing anything about one another but obviously have grown more closely together over the years. I was with a girl in a serious relationship before her, and she was a jealous type who tried to control me and turn me into her ideal guy. I was young and dumb and thought jealousy was a sign of love not the vice that it is, and i believed her attempts to change me were out of care not her own selfish desires. I labored, it was hard work, I gave up before marriage. Then I met my wife and our relationship started as a conversation that has never stopped. We fit well. Though times have been tough here and there, the relationship has always been easy.
There are absolutely people who get married after 5 or more years of dating. However for most couples there should be serious discussions by two years in. If you aren’t on the I Love LA We Love It Los Angeles Dodgers MLB shirt and by the same token and same page that is where you are heading then it isn’t going to happen. I had many girl friends when younger. I liked them, but there was always something missing. Girls come with lots of red flags and problems and issues. So, it was always simple when we broke up. Then, there was this one girl, that we did a lot of stuff together. And from those experiences, it became apparent that we could work things out. Even the bad things that happened didn’t push us apart. They tended to even bring us closer together. Then, as often had happened in the past, I got to thinking what it would be like without her. And for the first time with any girl, the thought of life without her seemed like it would be a terrible loss, instead of a relief. That all the complications and compromises required, would be worth it to stay together. So, I asked her to marry me. That was just over 40 years and 2 kids ago.
So, it was 2 different things. One, what we did together. And second, how my feelings grew for her through those experiences. We bought an investment property together. It was horrible. She cried. I renovated one apartment and it was wonderful. She helped with the I Love LA We Love It Los Angeles Dodgers MLB shirt and by the same token and other 2 after she could “feel” the difference between the before and after. All the other girls I had dated we just did fun things. Dinners. Beach outings. Glider flights. Trips to Reno. I just never felt any growth together with any other girl. If I were to put a name to it, maybe we succeeded because of “co-investment” in each other and in each other’s lives. Nothing., if I like her and she likes me and I’m financially stable and we have similar interests why I wouldn’t marry her ? Hopefully, this is absolutely unrelated to your question. And these “growing pains” of human evolution resolve quickly. It’s like asking what about men is attractive. Very subjective answers all around. But in your case, it’s often harder to marry when you get older, as well as some men may be intimidated by the amount you earn. But it could be a million things, and it could be one thing. Almost impossible to say without knowing you in person Some women are good at making men feel worshiped. I notice those are the “giver” personalities that enjoy making their partner happy both in life, in the bedroom, etc. Also if they are super attractive that helps.
Maybe in the I Love LA We Love It Los Angeles Dodgers MLB shirt and by the same token and relationships with those guys they learned what they wanted in a partner and sometimes even more importantly, what they DONT like and were able to find that in their next partner. Edit: I also saw that you might be a single mom. Unfortunately many men do not see single moms as marriage material, even if they are ok dating. A woman has to be truly exceptional for a guy to look past that, especially if he wants his own family. Why are you asking us? We don’t know you or what happened in your previous relationships. Ask your previous partners. They’re the ones who know. Maybe it is something about you that put them off. Maybe you were just unlucky and things didn’t work out. Without knowing anything else initial gut feeling is that you make too much money or you could be not very fun or attractive but I don’t want to make that judgment out of thin air
I was in a 5 year relationship with a woman in our early 20s. She was the I Love LA We Love It Los Angeles Dodgers MLB shirt and by the same token and product of a broken home and had some minor self esteem issues. Early on I wondered about marriage potential despite our political views being different. She eventually started saying things like marriage is just a piece of paper and she never wants kids and I went along with that for years. I thought I agreed. I broke up with her long after I should have but parts of the relationship was good for me, and probably beneficial overall. She was crushed when we broke up. I even cried a little when telling her. When I met my wife, there was way more compatibility for long term things including spiritual and political viewpoints, sense of humor, sexual chemistry and family stability in addition to upward mobility financially. She is seven years younger than me but a way better fit as we were in similar places in our lives and from very comparable upbringing. Definitely changed my mind quickly on getting married but still drug my feet and waited 2.5 years to get engaged due to some job placement issues out of my control that could have been a deal breaker for her.
In my lower 40s with two young kids now but in a good place that in my late 20s and early 30s wasn’t sure I’d ever be in. Oh end yeah, having a kid with no dad in sight labels you as damaged goods. Having a good job makes you somewhat intimidating to approach, so that’s two strikes. I dated one single woman with a kid with no dad,she was definitely damaged and I wasn’t going to stick around even though she was incredibly nice overall and had a good job. Better than me at the I Love LA We Love It Los Angeles Dodgers MLB shirt and by the same token and time. First date, from eHarmony. Talked EVERYTHING on our first date. Money, debt, goals, core values, religion, kids, sex, politics. We both knew after about two hours that we would be together forever. We were mid thirties and didn’t want to fuck around. I think your not communicating what you want. I’m 32 and have been married twice. I would love to think I’m amazing and men have just seen me as their forever. However, in all reality both times I had to express what I want. To be honest I have never been one to just date . I was married for 11 years and now my new marriage I have been in for 3 years. Anyways two different people. My first husband probably made sense because he was traditional too and we both wanted to fairly quickly . However, My second husband though, had a lot of serious relationships before me that lasted 4-6 years. I knew this and flat out told him I wasn’t looking for a relationship to bring my son into I was looking for a family and husband . I’m not telling you to pressure men . What I’m saying is be clear of what you want , that way if it’s not what they are looking for or their intentions they can leave.
I had been in longer relationships before meeting my Wife but the I Love LA We Love It Los Angeles Dodgers MLB shirt and by the same token and thoughts of marrying those women were not strong. I just saw them as “girlfriends”. Then I met my Wife. She quickly transitioned from a “girlfriend” to “Wife material” within a few weeks. She was the missing piece I didn’t know I was even missing or needed. There was just no doubt. I proposed around the 3-month mark/Married a year later. We’ve been Married for 21 years. One thing is women who are looking to get married or to be loved, rather than loving someone and building a relationship that leads to marriage. The difference is the expectation and burden. Possibly she will more or less take any decent man who cares for her, so that she can have the security and devotion that she wants. This comes across in micro interactions that make the woman seem demanding or desperate because she is so focused on making her situation fit in a box. In your scenario where your ex’s get married right after you, maybe you tend to date men who are not quite ready for that level of commitment but you’re fairly mature and “with it” so after dating you, they’ve learned enough to be ready for commitment?
I was going to marry my ex, but she had untreated mental health issue. And every 2 weeks she’d become unbearable and mean, then with a snap of her fingers 2 weeks after become super sweet. Most likely hormones or undiagnosed pmdd. But her inability to even want to address that was what kept me from marrying her. From how you write about it, it sounds like getting married is a high priority for you, but not necessarily marrying that one particular guy. If that is the I Love LA We Love It Los Angeles Dodgers MLB shirt and by the same token and case, a man probably senses that you interest is not in him, so he goes off to find someone who really does want to marry HIM, not just get married. I honestly just feel like I’ll never get to experience a proposal. My dad is also unwell and I’m terrified that I will be the only one of my sisters to not have him walk me down the aisle.
You’ve had several long term relationships… and you aren’t upset that they ended. You are upset they didn’t propose. A guy, especially a guy that is looking for marriage, can sense this. They know you don’t want to marry THEM, you just want to marry SOMEONE. So they move on and find someone that wants them for who they are… and not what they might be. If she has a tendency to embarrass, cheat or gaslight him. Or always needlessly get into it with other people. Be a very high maintenance person. I wanted to marry my wife when I decided I wanted to make babies with her. But we are also best friends, and that helps. Honestly it sounds like this is more of a guy you’re picking problem than a what’s the I Love LA We Love It Los Angeles Dodgers MLB shirt and by the same token and problem with men. What you listed is attractive to 99% of men, except the high earning part (men prefer to have women that know how to manage money over earning vast sums themselves).
You described my life and my feelings sooo well… and I’m sorry you are in the I Love LA We Love It Los Angeles Dodgers MLB shirt and by the same token and same, hurtful situation, I know exactly how you feel. This is the thing that I didn’t understand (and I stil don’t). In the years when I was looking, I realized that physical attraction is a big hurdle to even getting a date. This is normal. What bugs me often is the guys who are often attractive (even the decent ones) are often selfish and I could not ever prove to a woman that I am the better partner unless I am given a chance. Add to that when someone isn’t of the white race and your chances as a guy further goes down the scale. What am I trying to say here? There are guys out there that is your equal (romantically speaking) and they may just be an introvert. Back to your question. I cannot speak for every guy, but the saying “a man’s stomach is closest to his heart” or something, is still true.
I was upfront about marriage when I started dating. I will never marry. It’s not you, I mean I will never get married, ever. Everyone in my family divorced. My parents, aunts, grandparents, brother – all divorced. My parents each divorced and remarried other people 4 times each. I’ve been with the I Love LA We Love It Los Angeles Dodgers MLB shirt and by the same token and same woman for 10 years. I’m not afraid of commitment. I just don’t believe in forever. She can leave any day she wants. The door is open. Accountability and freedom. The fastest way for me to run is when someone else makes demands of me or my resources just because they can. Ex. If I buy something for myself it’s not up for discussion. I bought it with my money and it will not cause a financial hardship for the other party. Instant “it’s you not me” when that type of behavior occurs
