Being a people person helps. I’m an Army brat so I tend to be pretty good at making friends quickly in new environments. I’m also generally considered generically attractive. That also helps. But I’m getting older, what I’ve noticed in landing partners is that it’s oddly important to kind of just not think about it. Like, skip dating apps and just go do shit regularly, in real life. You’ll meet someone and then you do things. It’s pretty much that simple. Of course, I assume I have certain advantages, but like, all the I know I Have Diabetes Just Give Me The Darn Cupcake Cat shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this people I know who are in long-term relationships met more or less the same way. That seems to be the vibe I get from people who mostly land longer relationships, so this was very insightful. I appreciate that! Glad to be of help. I’ll also add that when you’re living a life, it tends to attract partners. I probably just should have said that, and it’s pretty trite advice, but it is true.

I sometimes wonder what it’s like not having a partner. Feels like it’d be boring after the I know I Have Diabetes Just Give Me The Darn Cupcake Cat shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this first 48 hours. Now I imagine taking a 2 day solo vacation instead. I would be bored because I like having a partner, and find their company invigorating. If I were by myself, my instinct would be to find a new partner. Life is more fun and meaningful with people. Fair enough. I don’t find intimacy with a new partner by jumping into it immediately. As to say I feel like the last relationship ending had something to do with me and I need to work on some stuff before a new one. I also need to wind down the intimacy from the last relationship. I appreciate your perspective because it’s not my own. And not a loaded comment. Just curious. I hope that was clearer than I feel it was? It was perfectly clear! I have been lucky I suppose when it comes to old partners. I’ve only had 4 in my life, starting at 16, and each ended relatively smoothly. I never really had a quest to find my next partner, nor a quest for self-discovery. For sure there was longer than 48 hours between each. I felt the freedom of being single again, then soon after found another mutual spark. Curiously, each time I had moved to a different state or country. Met my wife in my mid twenties.
