It’s correct procedure for police to leave a copy of a SW (police have a copy, the I heard Santa on the roof so i turned on the fireplace Christmas shirt Furthermore, I will do this court gets a copy and the address is left with a copy). The reason for this is that so the subject of the SW have their own copy to refer to to insure they’ve been treated properly etc etc. The badge has likely been left there by accident. It’s technically property of the crown, so should be returned to your local police station ASAP. I can’t see why a scammer would go to such lengths to reproduce an accurate SW, complete with stamp and replica badge. It may be a case that a suspect in Bristol, where the crime has taken place, has a connection to the property in Glasgow. In which case the case would still belong to Gloucestershire police.
I heard Santa on the roof so i turned on the fireplace Christmas shirt: buy and enjoy this shirt
I’d be more impressed if this was a fake because this is a lot of work to get a real badge and paperwork with a stamp to fool someone rather than just knocking something up and pocketing keys or valuables while they are “searching”. I think most people think these types of crimes have a lot of planning whereas they usually as very easy to spot and mostly target elderly and vulnerable poeple. Wouldn’t call it fishy, the I heard Santa on the roof so i turned on the fireplace Christmas shirt Furthermore, I will do this stamps up to date, they have an official badge and likely have the card in their lanyard thing and you can take their numbers and phone to verify. They do give you paperwork for a house search. I was arrested for cocaine about 20 years ago and they searched my house top to bottom, then pinned paperwork on the fridge to say they’d been. Though it didn’t look like that, it was a single sheet and printed on yellow paper.
For the I heard Santa on the roof so i turned on the fireplace Christmas shirt Furthermore, I will do this record, they turned my house upside down, but didn’t find the 40 grams of cocaine I had in wraps…..in the kitchen drawer. Unlucky. Ring the police and check. The paperwork should have a number that corresponds with the address search on their internal records. Definitely check, as otherwise that was just a bunch of weirdos looking to rob you of valuables. Lol I got raided for stolen goods nearly 20 years ago, they only found my drugs no stolen goods but couldn’t take them away because drugs weren’t detailed in the warrant. This was welcome news after 8 hours in the cells. The warrant card holder isn’t a form of ID – there should be an actual warrant card in there which has a photo of the person, collar number and signed by the chief constable. Is that in there?
Description for I heard Santa on the roof so i turned on the fireplace Christmas shirt
If it’s not, you’ve literally just got a police leather ID wallet. And also, it would never be left anywhere – its meant to stay on the I heard Santa on the roof so i turned on the fireplace Christmas shirt Furthermore, I will do this police officer at all times. Gloucester police wouldn’t execute a warrant in Glasgow. They would have to contact Glasgow police and have them execute the warrant. Call the police immediately and tell them everything. And then return and let us know what they said. I’m intrigued. If there were offences in Gloucester that required searches in Glasgow then yes, they would. Police Scotland would have been informed though and likely present so a quick call will clear it all up. The only weird bit about this post is the badge being left but that could be a simple mistake, the warrant looks OK and the badge looks real, if old.
My guess would be the I heard Santa on the roof so i turned on the fireplace Christmas shirt Furthermore, I will do this property has previously been used as an address linked to fraud, the officer from Gloucester got their badge out, but because they aren’t used to doing that, and it’s a weird day out from Gloucester to Glasgow they had a brain fart and left it. Yeah but they would get the premise of the search warrant right. They said they were looking for People. But the warrant is for possessions. Because it’s a search warrant, not an arrest warrant. They probably said they were looking for people because they noticed the suspect wasn’t the person who answered the door and wanted to check who lived there now. I’ve actually had this happen to me before. I was living in a house share at the time and was at work so I got a call from a housemate telling me there had been 10 police officers barging in looking through everyone’s room looking for me.
So I went to the I heard Santa on the roof so i turned on the fireplace Christmas shirt Furthermore, I will do this police station to ask why. They had no official reports of sending the amount of officers to my address so they ended up contacting the met police they had no clue either. It ended up happening again they came in due to a housemate letting them in I saw the warrant I then told them I’m calling the station. After I called them something happened and they left. So Bristol would come under Gloucestershire Police area. Not sure if they would normally leave a copy of the warrant as if it has application details in it they could be deemed to be sensitive material. Given they left a badge as well I’d guess they forgot it too – they don’t sound like the UKs finest there. That being said, Gloucestershire Police can serve warrants against an address in Glasgow if it’s linked to a Gloucestershire investigation so that in itself isn’t unusual.
So a couple of things are unusual. Most warrants are authorised by a magistrates. Can’t see why this one would need to be crown. Giving everyone shiny new equipment so they’re up-to-date with the I heard Santa on the roof so i turned on the fireplace Christmas shirt Furthermore, I will do this current royal cypher is a lovely theory, but it doesn’t mesh well with how we do, don’t, and mostly don’t fund the police. The warrant card should show a photo of the officer and look like this Officer here, just so you know every forces warrant card looks different. Suppliers and cost reasons etc. This sounds like a police impersonation scam. Basically fraudsters/scammers pretending to be the police to get financial details of yours, to take control of your account. I’d contact your bank asap. If police showed up to my door with a warrant I wouldn’t question it one iota. And I live in America and am very wary of police. English police operating in Scotland won’t happen..not unless they had a cross border op and no coppers gonna be that sloppy. You live in Scotland.. all the documents come from England.. I would expect something from the Scottish police or government.
It sounds like they came in to search the I heard Santa on the roof so i turned on the fireplace Christmas shirt Furthermore, I will do this place for valuables, I would call the police and get your locks checked, they will likely try and break in tonight. There’s no reason a court can’t issue a warrant for a different force to where it is geographically. There are lots of reasons they might do this, e.g. nearer courts were too busy I am not from the UK, I just happened upon this sub on the popular tab but my brother in Christ use your brain, given all the oddities you pointed out it seems obvious to me that some goober dressed as police officer scouted out your apartment and you will receive a very unpleasant visit in the near the future, it is needless to say that you should never open the door to strangers, even if it is the police. Even if they have a warrant it has to be a warrant to search your house specifically and unless you committed any serious crimes they will not have one and you can tell them to fuck off. So just lock your windows, lock your doors and keep an eye out for any suspicious individuals you will see around your house.
It’s possessive ‘s – meaning “belonging to the I heard Santa on the roof so i turned on the fireplace Christmas shirt Furthermore, I will do this applicant” (ie they’ve left the wrong version, this should be theirs) This document seems suspicious, honestly. The language used doesn’t come across as very official. And what exactly is “Gamma Telecoms”? Those are Technology things but the way they are listed is weird, Cloud 9 is a Web Based thing that Amazon Run, The other things listed are Datacenters like actual places. And I have googled it Gamma Telecoms is a company that provides Business IT stuff. This whole thing seems very fishy. Also I am sure when my Brother in laws house got “Raided” years ago the Warrant copy was on Yellow notepaper like (This is a copy) Those sort of id badges and wallets were fazed out in most constabulary’s years ago. They also carry a warrant card with a picture on of the officer and their details. You are within your rights to ask to see them. And also within your rights to not let them in until you have verified by ringing the local police to see if they are genuine. You can buy the wallets and badges off eBay as they are no longer used. So to be safe it’s worth ringing the police to see if anyone has been sent while they are there or after. If they are genuine police they will not mind showing your their warrant cards and allow you to verify their id by call in the local police station. If they don’t allow you to do that then they are probably not real police. As for the document that can be created. The warrant needs to be signed by a magistrate and must state clearly what they are searching for etc they can’t come with a document that doesn’t state what they are searching for and you are within in your rights to ask them on what grounds they are searching. Some police try to get a search warrant for a fishing exercise but that’s illegal. The fishing warrant wouldn’t be issued by a respectable magistrate, a fishing warrant wouldn’t state what they are searching for or if it does it would be a broad warrant they use them to search for anything to charge you with. But in order to get a warrant they have to have good grounds and have to convince a magistrate to sign it. It also may be signed by someone like a sergeant or inspector as well. But they have to apply to a magistrate for one, officers got to there superior explain what they need one for them the superior with say yes or no if they can go to a magistrate to get one then they have to explain what it’s for them the magistrate will decide if the warrant is legal or not and if to issue it, if it’s isn’t then the magistrate will tell them to go back and get it sorted and they they may or may not issue it if it’s within the law.
The warrant is for what looks to be money laundering they want to seize all records including computers and all electron devices and paper records. For it could be fraud squad, customs, etc. the I heard Santa on the roof so i turned on the fireplace Christmas shirt Furthermore, I will do this Warrant isn’t for a person or it would have that persons name on it they are after. The home owner is entitled to a copy of the warrant so leaving it is totally normal. An explanation is that Gloucester police have a criminal they are hunting and have executed the warrant themselves in your area of Glasgow. However leaving the warrant card is 100% not normal and is almost certainly a mistake, one the officer isn’t going to get over lightly. Normally a copy of the warrant will be left with occupants. Copies of the search record should have also been left explaining powers, items seized etc.
The warrant card definitely should not have been left behind. There’s an officer somewhere who owes a pretty massive cake fine. English police have no jurisdiction in Scotland for this sort of thing. Contact the I heard Santa on the roof so i turned on the fireplace Christmas shirt Furthermore, I will do this police and tell them what happened. Impersonating the police is a serious crime. 72 more repliesNAL-The warrant should be signed by a judge, there is a section for it. Currently some warrants are signed electronically and they should state when they were signed. Some times different police forces will be involved in the raid depending on speciality and training etc. Looking at the warrant it appears to be in connection to poca 2002, it’s possible this was in fact a raid by HMRC and that they were supported by members of the Gloucestershire constabulary. As others have said, speak to your local police if you are unsure. Sounds like they are casing places for future robberies. Definitely go to the police. Felony for masquerading as a police officer.
Just think of all the I heard Santa on the roof so i turned on the fireplace Christmas shirt Furthermore, I will do this mischief you could get up to with that badge, not to mention freebies by shaking down local businesses 😉 It’s might be an official document but it’s not the one they are supposed to leave.they should have left you with a copy of the warrant (not the application) with a page added with what they found or took or a no evidence found if they found nothing. It is very rarely from the county you live in, it’s the county of the judge who signed it. The most insane part of this is how many of you open your door for strangers! I could never. My parents aren’t home! (I’m 35) The fact that a warrant card has been left behind is likely a mistake. You’re doing the right thing handing it in at the nick.
The warrant being left is a requirement. Glos Police investigating someone in Glasgow doesn’t mean anything sinister. They could have a drug dealer on their patch with financial links to what is presumably a former occupant of your address. That’s a proceeds of crime warrant so whoever they were looking for is being investigated for money laundering. If it’s a former occupant with financial links to your address I would recommend checking your own credit reports and potentially filing something with Experian if you believe they are still using your address in any way. I would go to the I heard Santa on the roof so i turned on the fireplace Christmas shirt Furthermore, I will do this nearest station and turn the badge in. But also note that the Gloucestershire constabulary badge looks wrong and can be bought as a prop for £25 Also I’m pretty sure that for a Glasgow property it would need to be Glasgow officers that came round (although I left the courts in 2013 so again that might have changed)
Bristol CC warrant and a Gloucestershire warrant card means it’s possibly a SWROCU operation: they’ve included a number for the I heard Santa on the roof so i turned on the fireplace Christmas shirt Furthermore, I will do this Court. It appears to be the right number. You could give them a call tomorrow and check the warrant is legit. Or even email them if that’s easier. There isn’t much point calling your local police as they probably won’t know much about this if it is a South West Regional Organised Crime investigation. Yeah they’re fake police tell her if any police come back to show their badge first and give her their badge number I can’t quite make out the date on the document but it appears to be not recent. Doesn’t seem legit to me, ringing the local Police seems like a good idea. I had two custom officers demand entry into an empty office above my office to undertake surveillance on the building opposite. I refused as all they had was a manky business card with a phone number. I called the number, and this is the conversation: Woman on line: Hello? Me: who am I speaking with, please? WOL: Who are you? Me: I asked first. WOL: I can’t tell you. Me: Do you know xxx xxx? WOL: Yes, she works here. Me: is the customs and Excise? WOL: I’m not at liberty to tell you that information. Hangs up on me. I went back to the people waiting and said i couldnt let them in as it wasnt my office. They threatened to arrest me. I let them in. Fuck it. Not my problem.
I called the I heard Santa on the roof so i turned on the fireplace Christmas shirt Furthermore, I will do this police to tell them about it as assumed they were massively dodgy, and the answer I got was “If they say they’re customs and Excise, there’s nothing we can do.” The police said to let them get on with it. Moral of the story, if you want to get in anywhere, just say you’re customs and Excise and the police run away crying. The warrant should have had the person who applied for the warrant and those authorised to conduct the search on it, as well as the details of the persons authorised to conduct the search (although this can be “any police officer”). Once the searching officer(s) has taken appropriate steps to stop you interfering with potential evidence they should show you their warrant card (not just that wallet, which FYI looks genuine but can also be purchased online) and they should give you some means of verifying their identity if in doubt. They should leave you a copy of the warrant although this is normally the occupiers rather than the applicants copy. I’m also not entirely sure why Gloucestershire constabulary would be applying for their warrants in Bristol, rather than Gloucester crown court. It definitely raises enough questions that I would be contacting Gloucestershire constabulary directly to verify the warrant as genuine. If the property is linked to a person of interest, you can also make sure they are aware they don’t live in the property any more. If you’re feeling extra kind and it turns out to be a genuine visit you can find out who you can return that warrant card holder to.
It’s fairly normal for a constabulary to get papers stamped from courts such as Bristol if it had been done through the I heard Santa on the roof so i turned on the fireplace Christmas shirt Furthermore, I will do this High courts, however on normal cases a warrant to search a premises police would typically be in full police clothing with the only exception of some were undercover but it wouldn’t mean all would be as that seems kind of odd. The best thing your girlfriend should have done was politely decline their access temporarily whilst she’d contacted the local constabulary to confirm this is legit as for a constabulary that isn’t even sharing a border with Glasgow to come all that way is unheard of with the rare case of dealing with drug gangs or it’s in partnership with your local constabulary which if that were to be the case police from both Glasgow constabulary and Gloucestershire constabulary would both be in attendance.
Yeah, post on reddit instead of calling the I heard Santa on the roof so i turned on the fireplace Christmas shirt Furthermore, I will do this police so they can fiqure out who these people were, and track them down, now it will be to late for that The cops could confirm that badge in under a second, why are you even here? Obviously thats weird as fuck, if I was your gf I wouldnt stay there, just grab the belongings and gtfo The warrant they left appears to have three pages. A Court issued warrant come on three pages, an applicants copy (the Police in this case) a householders copy – which is supposed to be left at the address and a court copy which is returned to the court following the completion of the search and details what was seized and who was arrested during the search. A search warrant usually consists of a single page which is duplicated three times, with applicant’s copy, householder’s copy and court copy at the top. Not only did the officers leave behind one of their personal warrant cards, but they appear to have left the wrong copy of the warrant at the premises – the applicants copy. They may even have left all three copies of the warrant at the address. Once entry is gained to a premises under a warrant, the warrant has been executed and needs to be noted as such on all three copies with the time and date that this took place, to prevent it being used multiple times. This is another thing which does not appear to have been done.
Not “call police.” Go to station. It is normal to have a warrant with the I heard Santa on the roof so i turned on the fireplace Christmas shirt Furthermore, I will do this correct address. Not normal to leave a badge. Yes they have to leave a copy with the property and one time I had to call the police to come pick up their radio because they left it at mine You can ask in r/policeuk. It looks like a fake warrant burglary. They want bank documents to empty the accounts. Warrant has October 2015 written on the top right, although that could be from an old template they didn’t update when they wrote it. Wonder if they want their badge back lol, looks fairly old. Was there ID with it? Hmm mate this is dodgy as fuck if a English police force was in Glasgow wouldn’t police Scotland need to attend also give Scottish law being different and the warrant would need to be a Scottish one? Nobody seems to realise that the OP is in SCOTLAND and therefore no warrant issued by a Crown Court in Bristol, let alone by officers from Gloucestershire is valid. The Home Office and therefore the Police only cover England and Wales, Police Scotland would have attended, plus that isn’t even a warrant card, just the cover, the warrant card would have the officer’s personal details on it. From the document it seems legit especially with the stamp, however, really there should be a case name and number somewhere. You’d need to quote that when speaking to the court otherwise they’ll have no clue what you’re on about. Edit to add: even though Bristol isn’t your local court, it’s likely that the address is in some way linked to their case. Doubt you’ll be able to get much detail from the court but they should confirm if it’s legit.
