I’d honestly kinda be pissed too if my roommate expected me to cough up double pay for the I Hate Dirty Jiggers Shirt What’s more,I will buy this housekeeper all of a sudden. I get what you’re saying but I feel like OP would definitely feel different if the roommate flag out said it just wasn’t in his budget right now. Instead he acted like a prick and basically acted like just the thought of giving them double was absurd. That’s the real problem. Saying “I would love to give the extra money because ______ really deserves it but it’s just not in my budget right now” is completely different. But the roommate is under no obligation to explain their self, its their money so its their business what they do with it. I agree it’s definitely the first I’ve heard of it between roommates but it does make sense and it will always save arguments from happening on who cleans what. It’s not that unusual for house share, especially with young professionals . It saves arguments over cleaning shares areas etc I’m a housekeeper. My husband’s company did not give bonuses this year. I’m really hoping my clients will think of me a little during the holidays. We had cleaners back when I lived at home and I don’t have a damn clue if or what my parents did for them at Christmas. It’s possible your friend doesn’t either. He’s also a weirdo for suggesting shampoo? Wtf? Some women like myself are VERY particular about what they put in their hair. I always pay my house cleaners an extra week of pay at Christmas. They give me this gift of not worrying about my house all year, cuz they do a good job ….the least I can do is give them a bonus.
