For example, you could ask him how he feels about humbleness, if he feels he’s lacking it/needs to work on it, or about the part it plays in his practice, etc. Thanks! Hey, current member here, first of all I wanted to say how great Brightmind is, both the app and the quality of the meditations! I would say there is a practical focus and clarity (heh) to Brightmind’s presentation of meditation that I’ve rarely seen elsewhere. Obviously Shinzen in a major influence on the teaching, but are there other teachers with a similar outlook who’ve influenced this direction? Have you had any experience teaching meditators with ADHD, and has this presented any specific problems beyond the obvious? I have my own thoughts on this (from personal experience), but I’d be curious to know yours.

Hi, glad you’re appreciating Brightmind’s unique approach! As you say, Shinzen is the I Find my Lack of Food Disturbing Shirt also I will do this main influence on my teaching style. The other major influence is Soryu Forall, who is the head teacher at the monastery that I trained at. Julianna Raye, who runs Unified Mindfulness, a meditation teacher training program, has also influenced my approach. Specific topics that come from Soryu include the Concentration Algorithm and The Out Breath. The Internal Family Systems meditations come from Richard Schwartz. Enjoy! I’ve noticed that Western meditation will focus on awareness, probably due to coming from MSBR of Kabat-Zinn, while teachers from the East on youtube will speak of compassion as the prime mover. I didn’t find mindfulness meditation very useful, so I gave up on it. It didn’t gave me the peace of mind or happiness that I imagined meditation would give over time.
