The not indicating thing is about awareness. When you do ‘advanced driving’ you’re expected to have an all around awareness of other road users. If you indicate when there’s no one to see it, it’s assumed that you haven’t taken proper stock of your surroundings and the lack of other road users.

I prefer to pull it up without pressing it now because the clicks act as an assurance.
