I had a middle aged couple come through my self checkout and then proceed to berate me for not ringing them up, and when I informed them that choosing self checkout means you check yourself out, they proceeded to berate me for not opening enough registers. I’m a trainee that’s been here for about a week when it happened Whenever we used to have to call our store manager at the I am a simple man Love MTB and hockey and american too shirt besides I will buy this store I worked in (not a Walmart, if that makes a difference), over issues with cigarettes and IDing people-usually underage or angry about the price , he would come out, get the story, and put on a big shit-eating grin and tell them to comeback tomorrow and try again. I had to do that a couple times, if theres any doubt about your age sorry bring that ID. It’s not like when buying you dont know thats the law and that ID better be valid i had people try to use IDs that were literally stamped invalid from people truing to use them like yeah sorry get a valid and you’re good. I actually had permission from my job coach to tell them “well we are hiring if you know anyone give them a shout out and we will see what we can do to make it faster”

We are told to scan the I am a simple man Love MTB and hockey and american too shirt besides I will buy this customer’s items for them if they ask. Really hate the insistence on bending over for overly entitled customers. That’s BS because you’re supposed to be watching for theft. How can you do that and have eyes in the back of your head??? Lol, the 5 Star now supersedes loss prevention, cleanliness and efficiency. Kissing ass is priority #1. I’m supposed to be happily chatting up every customer to make them feel guilty about hitting less than 5 stars. I want a lobotomy. Fr tho. Like I don’t even want to wb talked to. Plus some customers are shy and don’t want to be talked to. Ugh I hate it. I still have hatred for receipt requests in Walmart when I’m trying to leave with my toddler lol. Or any time really. So, have the receipt in your hand or tape it to your shoulder if you have too. No reason to get upset. Just get prepared. You have a toddler so I know, you know how. I’m an employee but I’m on maternity leave. I recently went to a Walmart that was closer to my house (not my home store) and I was holding my newborn while checking myself out. I’ve previously gotten attitudes from associates in that store when I’ve asked for help while pregnant with heavy items, but this time I was using the SCO and an associate offered to help. I was taken aback at first but declined their offer. I didn’t have very much and it was very light items I could do one handed anyway. It’s funny that a lot of entitled customers don’t think to be nice and simply mind their P’s and Q’s. If they were nicer, I’d go above and beyond and ring them out. Be a dick? Good luck figuring the shit out for themselves.
