Theyre testing to see if you’ll conform, while simultaneously saving themselves money by pretending to ‘fill’ the Home of the wicked witch and her pack of dog halloween costumes T-Shirt Apart from…,I will love this offered role with your current status and wage. If you fight this in any way, even if its beneficial to you, theyll likely accelerate their plans to fire you as well. Theyre definitely looking to fire and higher with lower wages and this is the exact move it tends to start with; and they will not honor any word of mouth agreement on pay ESPECIALLY if the decision is in any way ‘left up to them’ for when youre recognized/paid better. Screw that! They should be giving you the pay raise. If they bring in someone new, they still have to see how they do in the role and how they work with the company and the employees, while getting the proper compensation for it.

IMO they are taking advantage of you. They are going to give you new responsibilities and probably make you continue some of your older responsibilities as well Get it all on writing, have them set a time frame, list of expectations. That’s simple management. If they are not willing to set a time frame then they are just buying time till they can fill the Home of the wicked witch and her pack of dog halloween costumes T-Shirt Apart from…,I will love this role. Also check the job postings to see if they list the role for outside hires. Been there, I would go back in time and reject the offer. I was offered a manager position and more pay after some “seat time” in the position. They finally did the promotion, but to a supervisor, not a manager (huge deal where I worked). Also, I never got the raise. I would tell them that you politely decline the offer because it doesn’t come with the pay and promotion, just more headaches.
