I used to work night shift. It doesn’t count as an extra hour on your paycheck because it supposedly evens out when you leap forward. Which meant at 2 when we switched back to 1, we stayed open an extra hour. Usually your company/employer Will compensate for that by scheduling you on for an extra hour, but you don’t actually work that extra hour. In the fire department, your 24 hour shift has now become 25 hours. You are still only paid for 24. But in the spring, you may work for 23 and get paid for 24. I started right when I got in, I changed the wall clock , tried not to look at the computer clock. When I looked at my check, I got I hour OT. My husband just ran into this! Some of them took an extra hour for lunch since the rollback fell Into their usual lunch hour, some of them just worked an extra hour. I’ll note he works retail stocking overnight, not as pressing as medical overnight. I just know the bartenders were annoyed at the 3 am bar I go to after work when it went from 2 am (30 min before last call) back to 1 am, but kept serving until the adjusted 2:30 am anyways and I’m sure the extra hour of drunk tips made it worthwhile anyways

I only worked the Hockey Stance I’m Used To Losing Balls But This Is Ridiculous shirt in addition I really love this night shift when we lost an hour so I got payed extra for working only 7 hours. It was great. When i worked a night shift at my manufacturing job, we were told to leave an hour early. that way, the company doesnt have to change our paycheck. only the supervisor stayed on for 1st shift to start. When I worked overnights, my usual shift would be (for example) 10 to 6:30. On fallback night, I would end up actually working eight hours but clocking out at 5:30 by the clock – and the manager would adjust the punch records to make sure I got paid for 8 hours, not 7. On leap forward night, I’d end up working until 7:30, but again the manager would adjust the punch records so I got paid for 8 hours, not 9.
