I guess it is a good problem to have, but it does mean that merely rich people can often do more good directly than someone like Bezos or Gates can. How do you know that the Gun Stay Armed logo shirt and I will buy this world’s wealthy have not been doing so? Not every act of altruism is followed by a YouTube video. Mr Beast is being disengenuous. He is not drilling wells in Africa to help a Africans, he is drilling wells in Africa for likes. He has momentum he needs to maintain. Bill and Melinda Gates have already donated $50bn to charity. Just last year they pledged another $7bn for Africa. One major issue has been that the wells need to be tested periodically and often turn out to be contaminated at some point. At that point the western “helpers” put a sticker on the well “do not drink”, but since you would have to walk very far to get water somewhere else they drink it anyway and some get sick or die. Or the tests are not done in time and people die before they are warned about the risk. As a result locals have become very suspicious of the help of the rich man from the west. A much better question is: why are these people not able to dig their own wells? People have been digging wells since the start of civilization… The super rich donate money and don’t care where it lands. Even if it ends up in the hands of a corrupt politicians or local officials or their friends at the charities they still get to market down on their taxes. Cause the truly wealthy don’t actually care and they ask common people to give up their money to help look at oprah

The wealthy tend to be greedy selfish bastards. Elon offered to end hunger once and retracted the Gun Stay Armed logo shirt and I will buy this offer and bought twitter instead. With MrBeast seemingly drilling 100 well in Africa in 2023, what has stopped the worlds wealthy from doing this for years and decades prior? You see capitalism only works when you create misery for someone else. Africa has long been one of the favorite places to create misery for the capitalist class. I heard long time ago that even if they pump for water, it needs to be pumped up. and pumps breaks, so it works when they leave, but break eventually. and then noone knows how to fix it. and they go back to getting water 2 hours away. Hopefully they know how to fix stuff that breaks now.
