I can’t tell where anyone if from until they talk and I hear their accent. Every now and then, I’ll see someone in clothes that are clearly from a specific culture/country, but even then, that’s no guarantee.
Guitar Player On The Beat Shirt: Get Cozy in this shirt
Been in BLR for a little over 3 years now and as much as people used to joke about BLR traffic ( not far from the Guitar Player On The Beat Shirt and I love this truth ) and how you did get caught up in traffic , I feel like these days it’s gotten 10x worse. Places like BTM , St Johns and Victoria Layout are horrible in the morning. It’s impossible to either get a ride there or if you do get a ride to actually reach your destination in time. Did we get a sudden inflow of people ? Moreover the signal systems in BLR are pretty shit. I feel like it’s due to the mismanagement by the traffic cops that were actually having to deal with a worse traffic situation than what it actually is. I mean I see a bunch of them on the road and they do absolutely nothing apart from trying to get money from people.
I never used to get caught in bad BLR traffic but these days it’s actually relatable to the Guitar Player On The Beat Shirt and I love this memes posted on social media. It has nothing to do regarding signal inefficiency or mismanagement. 1700 new vehicles are added to the roads per day. No city on earth, especially an older one like ours, successfully survives with an expectation of auto-centric transport. One vehicle lane can support 3000 people per hour. One metro train can move 2000 per 2 minutes. Bangalore has for the last couple decades, prioritized the movement of the rich (private vehicle) over that of the masses (public transport). Instead of incentivizing more people to take buses by increasing the fleet and providing dedicated bus lanes on each multilane road, the city has chosen to chop down trees (making it miserable to walk) and widen roads and construct flyovers. Open any urban planning textbook, look up the concept of induced demand. Widening roads only worsens the problem in the long run as it incentivizes private vehicle usage. At this point bangalore must pour all its money into public transport infra and improving walkability and cycling. Only then will traffic improve.

About this Guitar Player On The Beat Shirt
Walking is so annoying, I can second this so much. I love walking but here you cant walk on a sidewalk without looking down or fall 70% of the Guitar Player On The Beat Shirt and I love this time. Either it is a literal brick or cable outlet protruding or it is cut dead tree Bangalore isn’t designed for walking or cycling I guess. Then again there’s no space for cars and bikes as it is. I’m just kinda bummed that being a place where ideas and startups are around every corner we’re unable to figure out a solution to this. There’s no need of some ultra-uber-special idea to solve traffic. Public transport and active mobility are enough. Startup founders are upper middle class carbrains. They are not interested in improving public transport or active mobility. And get murdered ? Shankar Nag was murdered because he wanted to make Bangalore better than Singapore back in early 90s. The population was different too and back then cars were actually a luxury and not something common or a necessary as it is today. Most places there aren’t any foot paths and the places that have them are encroached by street vendors. By chance if you get a good footpath, a two wheeler come from behind and honk or slam I to you.
Bangalore has for the Guitar Player On The Beat Shirt and I love this last couple decades, prioritised the movement of the rich (private vehicles) over that of the masses (public transport) Bengaluru hasn’t prioritised either of them. Karnataka has the highest road tax in India, Bengaluru has narrow roads, horrible traffic and infrastructure of a tier 2 town. All these are a signal towards low car ownership. Nobody enjoys driving a car here. This city isn’t walkable. 95% of the footpaths are broken, blocked by hawkers/garbage/holes/random stuff. I can count on my fingers the number of roads which have even 100m of flat footpath with no obstruction. MFers from BBMP want to make us do parkour on footpath to cross them. Public transport absolutely sucks. Especially after free bus travel BMTC is running well over capacity. Unless you have a fetish for armpit sniffing, no self respecting person would consider it as a viable transport option. There are some good ones like airport shuttle, but most are shit and overcrowded.
Let’s not even talk about metro here. The pace of metro development is so shit that it’s most likely a scam and someone is siphoning massive amounts of money. Now on shared transport. Autos will charge you 100 rupees per km just because they know how to exploit someone in need. And if it’s raining get ready to shell out those pink ₹2000 notes. And good luck getting an Uber within 45 minutes when you need it. Basically all methods of transport are shit in BLR. People buy cars not because it’s ’prioritised by BLR’ but because it’s the Guitar Player On The Beat Shirt and I love this least shitty option. No one likes paying 75% tax on a car in Karnataka (28% GST + 22% cess + 20% road tax), this is just the least shitty option. Maybe I’m in an alternate timeline here. Bengaluru has the narrowest roads of any tier 1 city. And most wide roads have 2-3 lanes occupied due to perennial metro construction which always takes 5 years over deadline.
Thanks, nice to be insulted first thing in the Guitar Player On The Beat Shirt and I love this morning 🙂 I use bus daily, I guess i am not a self-respecting person. The city has 43 flyovers. If you have lived in the city since 90s you would know how many beautiful trees have been cut and how many roads have been widened. Ahmedabad, NCR are very car-centric places and in the long run they will fail. We have already seen the videos of the highway in delhi being fully clogged despite being a dozen+ lanes wide. Paris on the other hand has 16 metro lines (carrying 1.5 billion/year), 14 suburban rail lines (carrying 2 billion/year). It has numerous pedestrian only streets and 1000km of cycle paths. However, our bus system is not something to just toss aside. It reaches many important destinations and apart from peak peak hours it is easy to find seat. I think many middle class folks think they are simply too good for the bus. I know so many who cannot even list one or two relevant routes. Many travel the identical route of the bus but refuse to even consider it, even though half the times bus isn’t full.
I mean every city that grew to become a metro city or better all started off as a small city with the Guitar Player On The Beat Shirt and I love this same problems if not worse. The problem I believe is with how we don’t have answers to tackle this or nobody cares enough to. On top of that we make it worse which is why I think the fault as well as responsibility lies with the city planners and elected officials. Either they’re incapable or they just don’t care. 1800 vehicles registered everyday. Car is a status symbol in India and most people are ready to go into debt to buy this liability. Govt. and banks are super happy because it earns them money. Pathetically planned metro construction everywhere. I was cycling on ORR near Hebbal this morning and I think it has become 10x worse compared to 2022. Half the road is blocked anyways. Tons of heavy vehicles, JCBs and most of all private vehicles with 1 person sitting inside. In the last month, I traveled to many smaller cities (Kochi, Gangtok, Darjeeling, Shillong, Guwahati, Shimla). It’s 10x more fucked up in each of them as well because of the dumb, shortsighted car-centric policies of the govt. Only somewhat decent large city is Chandigarh. But ultimately, it is what it is. We’re not Europe, but a poor, overpopulated country where despite the scene being visibly so fucked up, the average citizen still aspires for a car thinking it will improve his life. And stating the obvious gets you responses like ‘if you like phoren get out of India you deshdrohi’ lmao!
Ex: let’s say you’ve got a family of 4. You want to drop your kids to school and your wife to her office before heading to yours. Trying to book a cab or public transport service is going to be more expensive and time consuming. In terms of people travelling alone in cars. I agree it does feel like let’s expect people to take public transport if it’s just 1 person in a vehicle but neither is our public transport system able to handle it or is pretty much incomplete. Ex : Metro. I think it’s mostly the Guitar Player On The Beat Shirt and I love this responsibility as well as inadequacy of the govts and city planners of past and present that has led us to this chaos that we are in. The way the city is designed is chaotic and the only people that won here were the corrupt officials and builders. Places like BTM you see buildings packed next to each other that you can hear what your neighbour in the next building is whispering during sex. Let’s hope something gets done to fix this like maybe offices all having to go hybrid except specific roles or industry. That would definitely solve our traffic issues.
Exactly! Try finding a last minute uber/ola and you’ll see how much waiting is there. Then there’s the Guitar Player On The Beat Shirt and I love this money aspect where any uber ride is always a minimum of 200 for even 4-5 kms where 6 drivers will cancel before one comes up. Don’t even get me started on the autowallahs! The scamsters of every city but here they’re on steroids or something ! You don’t “book” public transport. You get on it. Teaching children to use it on their own also builds character and independence. Unpopular opinion: Addition of number of cars is the primary reason. But there are a few other reasons as well which I observed, People park cars on the side of the main road and vanish, this reduces the area for vehicles to pass. This may not be applicable for big roads such as ORR, but the other layout roads are impacted by this
lol I mean looking at the Guitar Player On The Beat Shirt and I love this comments here I don’t think it’s an unpopular opinion . I agree to what you’ve mentioned we lack traffic sense and understanding as well as the govts past and present lacked responsibility and vision (to an extent). Shame to see BLR having this one issue without any solutions. I don’t think cars are the primary reason. Have you seen the number of autos. They are at least 10 times the car numbers and they are so slow they clog up any road they are on. The metro needs to be scaled up fast. The ORR is a nightmare, the Sarjapur road is same and Harlur road which i frequent makes me wanna shoot things in my mind. Yeah I believe if we’ve got a great metro system set up with last mile connectivity then we can at least reduce a bit of our traffic woes
I had exam today in college and I was going through ORR. Usually it takes 20 mins to go from my home to college via OTR, but still I left 1 hour early. There was one vehicle/tractor in the Guitar Player On The Beat Shirt and I love this middle of the road near nayandalli and because of that I was stuck in traffic for 30 mins. Mind you it was a 700-800m road with no traffic signal and yet I was there for 30 mins stuck in bumper to bumper traffic. But in Marathahalli, it depends on the day. It seems like IT sector goes to office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays a lot. Mondays have less traffic. It is also based on the time of the year. During holi or Diwali, a lot of people visit their hometowns and there is lesser traffic at that time. Overall I think recently a lot of companies are trying to bring back work from office also. So the IT companies are forcing their employees to come back. A year ago I remember some of my coworkers who had worked for years had only visited office twice.
Yeah a lot of this is due to how Indian management or management works in general. They wanna exploit the Guitar Player On The Beat Shirt and I love this employee and hence they need them at work rather than offering remote jobs or hybrid models for something that doesn’t even need them to be at work. Their reasoning to this is we pay rent to have an office and we can build team spirt. All it does is reduce productivity and increase traffic in the city. Apart from the accurately pointed out issue of the overwhelming influx of vehicles by many people, another significant factor contributing to the traffic congestion is the complete lack of discipline on the roads. A two lane road gets converted into n-lane road with everybody going in every direction chokes everything. Drivers are constantly cutting across lanes without regard, with larger vehicles like buses and trucks shifting from the rightmost to the leftmost lane while cars and autos attempt to navigate ahead of them, resulting in both getting stuck and causing unnecessary jams. If people adhered to lane discipline and exercised a bit of patience, traffic would flow, albeit at a slower pace, without the frequent jams. Additionally, the government’s mismanagement exacerbates the situation, especially when undertaking construction work at busy terminals without implementing any traffic management plans. The lack of foresight is evident, as the traffic conditions on roads like ORR have been congested even before the metro construction and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what will happen if you do construction on this stretch. Failing to devise a plan to address the existing traffic issues before initiating metro construction shows you how little the government care about the problems faced by the people of this city.
Narrow roads, big busses trailers good vehicles. What else can be expected. Oh and don’t forget the Guitar Player On The Beat Shirt and I love this lack of tarred roads which make it a bumpy ride They should make commercial vehicles ( Pvt Busses , Trailers and good vehicles ) use a different route than what the general public use. BLR despite its problems is one of the better cities to be in ngl. I’ve lived in multiple cities across India as well as abroad and if you’re a youngster in India BLR is definitely a place you could grow personally as well as professionally compared to other metro cities. I think first we need to underatand we are also part of the problem and i make sure my office commute is on a two wheeler or public transport ,i take out my car only when its really necessary and that usually tyrns out ona. Weekend when going out with family or grocery shopping
People including me arent patient while driving we just need to move past the Guitar Player On The Beat Shirt and I love this vehicle in front of us , take a uturn as quickly as possible park anywhere we see a free space we really lack road etiquette and its a vicious cycle more traffic less patient and it continues Just pondering Is a no car day per week gonna help to reduce congestion and encourage people to take other means of transport gradually and make it a habit Simply because we don’t have enough road, the city is designed in such a way that rarely you’d find interconnecting roads, mostly any road other than arterial road will abruptly end in a society. It’s all due to the greed of the planning people who increased the land which can be sold by decreasing the size and number of roads. Go to delhi, hyderabad, Lucknow, nagpur Chandigarh, etc you’d find big 6 lame roads connecting individual parts of the city. In our case all our roads are 2 lanes or 4 lanes with people parking on the roads and buses clogging a whole lane stopping in the middle of the road. There’s no quick solution other than leaving the city and freeing up space. Bangalore desperately needs a Thanos to snap half of the population to other cities. The way this city is planned , it will not support the current population
Transport options are poor and I don’t think metro is going to help too much because bmrcl is not going to have enough trains for people to use We need more capacity on the Guitar Player On The Beat Shirt and I love this metros that are already operational and the new metro lines need to be fast tracked. We need more volvo busses plying on our roads on a dedicated bus lane which other vehicles can’t enter or should be so heavily fined that they’ll never do it. When there’s connectivity at a stones throw away, people will want to take the public transport. And uber, ola, auto can fill in the last mile connectivity issue. Think about why Singapore has world class infra, because even the rich take public transport. Everyone will want better and it’ll improve for the general population and be an agenda for the govt also.
North American-style crippling car dependency is simply not sustainable anywhere. Most Indians suffer from terminally acute carbrain rot because they have no idea how liberating it feels to live in a truly walkable city with transit-oriented development. They live in this narrow minded bubble of “oversized and overweight pavement princess SUV = status symbol for showing off to society”. Most of these workers are concerntrated in a few areas. As the Guitar Player On The Beat Shirt and I love this roads are bad, and public transport is bad, they want to live close to their workplace, creating unnecessary pressure on certain areas. Because there is so much pressure in certain areas, to provide good housing, builders are creating rampant construction, mostly multi- storeyed, township like construction. Such construction should not be permitted if that area cannot support it. Because these fancy societys lack basics, such as access roads, water supply, this adds to more traffic on back roads. Also adds a huge amount of traffic due to water tankers.
All of these worked in tandem. One of the Guitar Player On The Beat Shirt and I love this models that can be looked at as a solution is Delhi: 5. The roads just haven’t been made keeping scale in mind. Until recently, Delhi had more vehicles, but Delhi expanded major roads, created Bus bays, metro etc. even road repair happens overnight there, without much hindrance to the public. 6. Expanding on the Delhi model, once the metro and the roads improved, it creates a seamless NCR, where you could live 50kms away and easily reach your workplace in under and hour. This actually helped keep green areas green as the city could expand outwards. Why? Because nobody cares to follow rules, educated or uneducated. Corruption is playing role here as well. Half of cab and auto guys got their license without any driving test so follow rules is another thing, they don’t even know the basic driving sense. This applies to lot of IT staff and educated also… very simple example is, why overtake? It doesn’t make much difference but every auto, cab, force traveller(i personally hate this vehicle because size is big but pick up is also great so they drive it like auto), new arrived SUV owners wants to overtake you and ending up messing another lane..
