She’s at that age where she’s going to start going through a lot of changes socially, physically, mentally, etc., and you being close to her age is something she can learn from. I always wished I had a sibling to have this sort of relationship with. Edit: (I am an only child.) You can be an awesome older brother, just do your best. Be open, honest and listen, a safe person to talk to. Someone she can turn to when she needs to talk about something or wants advice but is afraid to ask other people, parents especially. This can be a beautiful and treasured relationship many of us never had.

It reached a point where I just didn’t even want to go to social gatherings with my family because I knew it would just be an excuse for them to humiliate me in public, even in front of my own friends that were my age.
