There’s a published paper from 1917 where a doctor claimed to have successfully transplanted an ectopic embryo to the Grinch nice list naughty list I belong on the spicy list Christmas shirt also I will do this uterus. It’s unlikely it ever happened, and if it did it was a fluke. But it’s enough to fuel the zealots’ hopes. Yea I’ve heard about that case report as well. If it’s credible, I guess I’d chalk it up to a perfect set of circumstances and divine luck. The zealots don’t understand that it’s near impossible to do in principle. I think they’re also confused by the fact that IVF is possible. But of course in those cases, there is no risk of damage to the embryo from removing it in the first place, there is control over the timing of implantation, and you get multiple tries. If wiki is to be believed, there are at least 3 instances where the baby made it to term. However, all 3 appear to require C section. The odds are sufficiently low, and the consequences sufficiently grim, that it’s unreasonable to take the risk.

The term ectopic pregnancy simply means that the Grinch nice list naughty list I belong on the spicy list Christmas shirt also I will do this embryo implanted outside of the uterus. In the 3 documented cases of live births, the baby survived because they implanted in the peritoneal cavity, the space in the abdomen where the stomach, intestines, and liver are. While “ectopic pregnancy” technically just means an embryo that implanted anywhere that isn’t the uterus, most people use it to describe cases of an embryo implanting in the fallopian tubes. There is zero, and I mean absolutely zero, chance of such a scenario resulting in a live birth. It has never happened and never will. And while THESE women survived a peritoneal entropy pregnancy, that is by no means certain. Having an increasing and highly vascular thing growing on structures in your body not designed to support them is fucking dangerous. Placental tissue invades into whatever is around it. That’s fine in a uterus, that’s the whole point of endometrial lining that sheds. But that could invade into the walls of the intestines. That could be a temporary blockage, or that could result in needing a colostomy. It could attach to the bladder and then invade that until urine can no longer flow and the woman dies of urosepsis. ETA: plus the HUGE risk of bleeding both during pregnancy and after if she managed to survive that long. The surrounding structures aren’t evolved to support it, and even a little bit of jostling could dislodge or treat and cause severe bleeding.
I mean, a placenta IS kind of an invasive parasite. There’s a reason bleeding to a dangerous degree after giving birth is STILL common. Because it implants into the Grinch nice list naughty list I belong on the spicy list Christmas shirt also I will do this uterus and leaves a gaping wound the size of a serving platter. What can happen, according to my fertility specialist, is in some rare cases the embryo will shift into the womb. That’s why we were given a choice to see if it would rectify or not. The chance is so vanishingly small and the risk so incredibly high that we didn’t risk it. Id propose a fourth branch of government. A ministry of science and medicine composed of a panel of experts elected SOLELY by their doctorate peers in their respective fields. They could have veto/forced review powers if a bill is seen to pose an existential risk. Corruption would be unlikely as they could be removed by a vote of no confidence from the peers who elected them Picture a tiny plant with microscopic roots driving into dirt. If you try to lift or move the plant in anyway, you’ll cut off its nutrient supply. Add on that the plant is growing in bad soil that can’t possibly support it forever and it may already be damaged.

The embryo implants itself using cilia that draw nutrients, normally from the Grinch nice list naughty list I belong on the spicy list Christmas shirt also I will do this uterus — a lot like roots, but they implant into the “skin” of the uterus/fallopian tubes. A surgeon would have to somehow disconnect the cilia without damaging them and relocate it to the uterus. Everything at this point is a microscopic structure. If the cilia are damaged the embryo is lost. Imagine you need to move a golf ball from the 17th hole to the 18th hole, but the only thing you can use on it is a bulldozer. A tubal pregnancy is exceptionally rare into the 2nd trimester. The largest recorded is in the 14th week. (13th week is the end of the first trimester). Thanks for the added context. I was wondering how the fallopian tubes “sometimes” expanded to such an extent (apparently they do not).
If winning the Grinch nice list naughty list I belong on the spicy list Christmas shirt also I will do this lottery has higher odds than the fetus staying alive to term outside the uterus, this is common sense. I am 100% pro choice and horrified by what is happening in the United States, but I have to fact check your statement. Babies born at 24 weeks, even as early as 23 and sometimes 22 weeks, do actually have a very high chance of survival, much higher than 1/1000. It can be as high as 73% survival for 24 weeks, and depending on complications and comorbidities, these children can actually have very good outcomes. It is true that you need access to a Level 3 NICU, and that many of these children will deal with a spectrum of medical and physical issues for the rest of their lives, but the field of neonatology has made huge advances in the last 10-20 years.
“Norris-De La Cruz needed emergency surgery to terminate the Grinch nice list naughty list I belong on the spicy list Christmas shirt also I will do this ectopic pregnancy, which is protected under Texas’ near-total abortion ban, but she says multiple physicians at Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital refused to treat her, telling her the pregnancy could be viable and sending her home to wait. ” A politician actually tried to make a law that if you removed an ectopic pregnancy you had to implant it in the uterus. He dropped it when doctors advised him this wasn’t possible. Yeah I read that. I was dumbfounded how long he tried to keep that up. And he somewhat succeeded in regards to convincing people that it could be done. There are people who believe that shit no matter how much you tell them it’s impossible, because they believe you can’t trust anyone who doesn’t follow their own line of thinking. Aka “dirty libs”. That is it they are intentionally destroying this country. As a paramedic, we are taught that a topic pregnancies are 100% non-salvageable and completely lethal to the mother. Stop killing women.
I don’t think this is a facepalm, but a scary reality. Ectopic pregnancies are no joke, and really dangerous if not treated immediately. I suppose the Grinch nice list naughty list I belong on the spicy list Christmas shirt also I will do this “ectopic pregnancies are babies too” part is the facepalm, and the fact that a tweet like this is even needed at all in this day and age. It doesn’t really matter if it’s a baby too, unfortunately it’s not going to make it either way and if you can at least save the mother then why on earth would you avoid that? I heard a priest who said babies start at conception and babies start in the womb. This dude had the gall to explain the human body as an expert. Yelled that it is fact. Tried to explain to him that no, fertilization occurs in the fallopian and then it usually travels to the womb. It’s why we can have ectopic – a fetus outside the womb. Let’s just say he didn’t take criticism well. Eventually the rhetoric is going to become women being arrested and prosecuted for having ectopic pregnancies, miscarriages and stillbirths. I don’t like the way this is going. We are demodernizing society. Idk if if possible to feel pain in the fallopian tube, but I surely did with the thought of a embryo developing there There is no pain quite like the pain of an embryo rupturing a fallopian tube. I almost passed out from the agony, and really wish I had.
It really is. My ex had one, and she started to turn gray from blood loss. The stubborn girl didn’t want to go to the Grinch nice list naughty list I belong on the spicy list Christmas shirt also I will do this hospital until she passed out from blood loss for a moment, and we called an ambulance. She was 30 minutes away from dying. It was such a scary moment in our lives that I doubt either one of us will ever forget it. My heart goes out to anyone who goes through one. 🙁 The tune will change FOR THEM but not for anyone else. They only change their tune when it benefits them and then it ONLY applies to their situation and not anyone else’s. True, but how else do you show these people they are idiots who need to mind their own business? Asking nicely and protesting aren’t making much progress. If you’re not capable of carrying a baby to term in YOUR body, you don’t get ANY say in what defines a baby or not.
Why not keep it simple and just say everyone decides for themselves what constitutes new human life developing in their own body? I don’t think we need to be testing fertility to figure out if a person “gets a vote” about other people’s reproductive rights. My wife and I had an ectopic pregnancy. She ended up with a rupture and me rushing her to the Grinch nice list naughty list I belong on the spicy list Christmas shirt also I will do this hospital. While time I was worried that I was going to lose my wife as well. She was in so much pain and lost a liter of blood. So, yeah, fuck these people who support this shit. You mean fuck conservative Christians. There are a lot of liberal denominations out there. It’s just that the most prevalent are the conservative ones Great. Please tell your friends to get their shit together then cause the majority of ‘em are giving all of you a bad name.
There was a woman who made medical journals because an egg planted itself in HER LUNG. You can’t tell me that doesn’t require an abortion Republicans should just shut the Grinch nice list naughty list I belong on the spicy list Christmas shirt also I will do this fuck up and sit the fuck down on all things. I don’t give 2 shits what a bunch of traitors think. They don’t care about this. They are so deep into their cult that to them, it doesn’t matter who dies or for what reason. The cell must survive! I am afraid this probably already happened. Most likely some illegal abortion or some medical complication has cost a live in both cases those involved have reasons to keep quiet someone i know nearly died from this, and her sister actually did die (do ectopic pregnancies run in families? or just coincidence and bad luck?) We drive code 3 (lights and sirens) to the hospital when there is even the slightest chance the female patient could be pregnant because of how FUCKING DANGEROUS it is. Regardless of it being a “baby” (however you define that) or not there is an immediate threat to life of the soon to be dead mother. Truly sickening It’s not a bug to conservatives, it’s a feature. They WANT pregnancy to be as risky and dangerous as possible in order to make sex as mortally perilous as possible. Don’t want to bleed to death from the inside after your rapist impregnated you? Well then you shouldn’t have gone to that bar wearing such a short skirt.
Not sure why they ever started calling an Ectopic a “pregnancy” when the Grinch nice list naughty list I belong on the spicy list Christmas shirt also I will do this standard definition of “pregnancy” in medical texts and dictionaries includes the fetus being INSIDE the uterus… can anyone clarify this for me? ALSO: the medical profession really needs to step up and stop calling removal of a dead mass of tissue inside a woman’s body an “abortion” when the doctor is obviously NOT “aborting” or “ending” a “pregnancy” when the dead tissue can no longer be called a fetus at this point since it’s no longer alive… BY LITERAL DEFINITION ectopic pregnancies are not, and cannot be, babies. That is what the word “Ectopic” is for. Not because they hate women. They don’t give a shit about the women, or whether they are women or are dancing bears. They literally don’t pay that much attention to who we are. They do it because, when that woman dies, she leaves more marginalized people behind. Literally everything they do is designed to marginalize as many people as possible and as many different cruel and evil ways as they can think of. Since there are no consequences if they do get someone killed the eventual outcome is close to certain. Just as it is with every other medical or public health issue someone is always going to push their own beliefs regardless of scientific facts. It’s now the nation’s most popular sport – lying with malice.
The US is on a high speed train without brakes back to 1950. I am truly concerned. cpac had the Grinch nice list naughty list I belong on the spicy list Christmas shirt also I will do this El Salvadorian dictator there. He got multiple standing ovations. Ectopic pregnancies are NOT VIABLE pregnancies, they will not survive and left untreated it’s possible the woman won’t either. Point is, these are NOT viable pregnancies and a woman should not have to risk her life because of one. People who are not medically educated should not be making decisions like this. I’d 100% leave whatever stupid fucking shithole came up with this law. My wife had one and it was devastating to us given we’ve tried to get pregnant for so long. I mean I’m sorry even if it is a baby , it has to die. The alternative would be they both die right? So what’s the controversy again?
Women HAVE died! That’s why this is so frustrating! We’ve made so much progress in birthing care but these fundamentalist idiots want to take us back to a time when women WERE DYING during childbirth because of some religious dogma. Like what the Grinch nice list naughty list I belong on the spicy list Christmas shirt also I will do this hell is this timeline were on right now?! It’s already happening. And Texas has decided to stop reporting maternal deaths until after the November election. Can’t wait till they figure out how to impregnate a man. Shit like this will turn faster than a glass of milk in the desert. Really shows how little thought or research “pro life” douches do cause I thought “oh endoscopic pregnancy, what’s that?” and it took like 5 seconds just now to find out that it literally is unable to be carried to term and is fatal without treatment on my own.
All the Grinch nice list naughty list I belong on the spicy list Christmas shirt also I will do this states that have harsh abortion restrictions have had disproportionate raises in their maternal mortality rate compared to the rest of the country Oh it won’t matter to them. If a woman can’t breed she’s useless to them. Their objective is to populate the country with idiots who are just smart enough to run the machines but not quite smart enough to question why they’re working a 40 hour week and still can’t pay their bills and can’t afford to get sick. So if a woman has an ectopic and her chances of producing drones declines, she’s of no use to them. Except we are just fetus carrying tools for them. And now if you can’t do it on your own you are worth nothing to them Okay it is a sure way to day between 6 and 16 weeks. Because of rupture of the ovary tubes… Fuck that bullshit! Your partner is going to die and the child isnt even fully developed and will die too. How stupid can one be?
A woman in Texas with this condition was recently denied care in a Texas hospital because of these horrific new “pro life” laws My grandmother died of an ectopic pregnancy bc an abortion wasn’t an option at that time. She left 5 children, whose father had died several years before. Next thing “oh miscarriage, negligent homicide”. 10 years from now “you told your friend you pull out and he alerted the Grinch nice list naughty list I belong on the spicy list Christmas shirt also I will do this Moral Majority. 5 year sin penalty” Politicizing women’s bodies (and trans people) like this is truly fucking disgusting. I really hope that people show up to vote against these assholes. 216 more repliesWait wait wait people actually think ectopic pregnancies should be left alone? wtf it’s the leading cause of maternal death in the 1st trimester. As someone with a lovely burst fallopian tube 27 years ago without knowing I was even pregnant yet but suddenly swimming in a pool of my own blood, these people can fuck all the way off. These stupid motherfuckers think that an ectopic pregnancy can be saved, which has so far NEVER FUCKING HAPPENED! Fucking people with no medical training or knowledge writing laws on medical issues (and for the most part men writing laws regarding women) should be a fucking crime in itself. Very recently doctors in Texas that should have just taken care of a young lady that unfortunately had, according to the doctor that actually did what needed to be done, a textbook case of an ectopic pregnancy were too afraid of being sued and facing prison time, so they were just going to let her die when eventually it was too late. They sent her home. Even though the law in Texas was changed so ectopic pregnancies were an exception, they had trouble finding a doctor with the testicular fortitude to help that young lady. So, in short, fuck everyone that chose this idiocy because of their religion, taking away bodily autonomy from actual grown human beings. Your religion should have no say in someone else’s body. That nonsense doesn’t belong here.
If the Grinch nice list naughty list I belong on the spicy list Christmas shirt also I will do this woman’s family supports these policies, the public wouldn’t even be made aware of their deaths so even if we have already had deaths as a result of Texas Abortion laws, we likely wouldn’t hear about it. Genuine questions from a bemused European: Why would any educated person choose to live in one of these states? Why do women continue to vote red (against their interests)? Wait, hold up a fucking minute. The us is trying to make it so you cant abort ectopic pregnancies? What the actual fuck That’s why we have doctors going to school for like 12 years, they learned stuff that I, a moron, haven’t. That’s the point of school. What people need to understand is that women dying isn’t a side effect, it’s the goal. If you’re pregnant then you’re a sexual deviant who deserves to be punished. Having a baby is your punishment and means your fun is over because now you have to take care of it and be miserable. If you die in the process then justice was served. That’s the mentality that drives these people. You can’t reason with awful people who literally want you dead, you have to fight against them. Here’s the thing, Jennifer: these people don’t give a wet fuck if they get women killed as long as they can control the rest. Learn more about what this shit is causing for a chaos and how many lifes are destroyed. Uncountable pregnancies out of rape already. I don’t have the exact number right now, but it’s a god damn lot. Many deaths. It’s not a matter of time until someone dies. It happens regularly People are arguing this? It is a gyneco/surgical emergency, there is no argument to be made for saving that fetus
She could have died if we hadn’t found someone willing to do it, and now that state might actually prevent it (we left to California) Nothing like losing a wanted pregnancy while being told by people that we are wrong to save her life in the Grinch nice list naughty list I belong on the spicy list Christmas shirt also I will do this process. I honestly think the average person in the US has no idea what qualifies as an abortion and they’d be mortified to find out. An ectopic pregnancy was the scariest job I ever had as a paramedic. The patient already had a 2 year old running around the house…so you know no pressure. She was conscious but diaphoretic, cold and with no palpable pulses or blood pressure. Super tachycardic aswell. I tell you shit scary. It is also the job I get most satisfaction from as it was a genuine life saved. The implications of her dying would have destroyed that family.
As someone from Europe: USA can you please get your shit together and vote out the Grinch nice list naughty list I belong on the spicy list Christmas shirt also I will do this religious zealots and lunatics? If it requires to use pitchforks on the billionaires that accelerate this tumorous growth by media manipulation, so be it. I know the EU is not perfect either (far from it) but this thing is getting ridiculous. The USA is not even considered a working democracies anymore on a global level and you are giving up your freedom for a fandom of corruption and autocrats I think people just have to be massively misinformed on ectopic pregnancies to not want to treat them. Regardless if you think that stage of a fetus is alive, it will not be alive much longer considering the dangerous location it has ended up in. This will likely result in massive amounts of internal bleeding and death of the pregnant person. Additionally, I don’t think there’s any procedure to put it back in the womb where it should be, so it’s not like there’s any chance of this fetus seeing the light of day. There is zero reason why someone with an ectopic pregnancy should be denied an abortion, it is a matter of life and death whether they can get it removed I know they are somewhat uncommon but I have my first pregnancy scan appointment in a few days and I really didn’t need to read this right now. I’m absolutely terrified something like this, or an equally horrible pregnancy complication, will happen even though I did “everything right” it disgusts me that men who will never know this fear get to make legislation about our bodies.
