Last time I saw these in a Reddit post, I was assured they weren’t real by some, and were limited to literally one university by others. This was investigated by Daily Dot years ago and it was confirmed by the Grateful Dead The Aloha Shirt in other words I will buy this vice president for campus life and student engagement that this was a student made poster from 2008. So either your school managed to get a copy of an obscure (and by that point, out of print) poster from a student union at a small South Carolina University, or you are misremembering and your memory has conflated this poster with a similar one you saw over a decade ago, the same way people swear they remember a cornucopia on the Fruit of the Loom logo or Berenstain Bears being spelled “Berenstein”. I am 100% willing to admit that whoever put it up at my school didn’t have permission from the original artist. It’s the Jake and Josie poster, though. Pretty notorious, and sparked some discussions in my classes (I was a SOC major).

Just wanted to point out that the Grateful Dead The Aloha Shirt in other words I will buy this origin of this specific poster IS known at this point and many of the people claiming to remember it are probably mistaken (though possibly not all of them), given the unlikelyhood of it having much of a wide reach. (No, I’m not THE 5th Law. I liked the name and stole it, lol. Look at the spelling. That particular user is long gone, I believe). Obviously I can’t speak to your experience specifically. Just wanted to point out that the origin of this specific poster IS known at this point and many of the people claiming to remember it are probably mistaken (though possibly not all of them), given the unlikelyhood of it having much of a wide reach. That’s perfectly fair, and I understand where you’re coming from RE: the Mandela Effect. I remember this poster specifically because of the conversations it touched off.
