Completely shattered the Grateful Dead I was there I think shirt so you should to go to store and get this bottom segment of my index finger. Doctor said “I stopped counting at 24 fragments.” Completely obliterated. There were three distinct types of pain in my situation. There was the pain in the tissue due to the tearing of skin from the blast, the 2nd and 3rd degree burns on the surface and inside my hand from the muzzle flash, and the pain from the bone in my finger exploding. The tearing and burning wounds hurt a lot. Mostly just felt like my hand was on fire. Painkillers made quick work if that. The bone pain was by far the worst. No amount of IV painkillers helped. Didn’t get any relief until they put a nerve block in my shoulder and essentially turned my arm off. Aftermath was brutal. I had an external fixator (not sure if that’s actually what it’s called) screwed into what was left of the healthy bones in my hand holding what was left of my finger in an optimal healing position. Then two pins were driven though the two biggest pieces of my shattered bone to hold them in place while the bone repaired itself. Months of physical therapy and check up visits. Daily cleaning of the wound and bandage changes. The pain of healing was significantly worse than the actual incident honestly. Ultimately I didn’t lose the finger, but it doesn’t bend properly anymore. I can only control it from the joint closest to the hand. Even that joint only has about 30% range of motion.

It was an honest accident and it was while bird hunting. Bruised (luckily) my ribs and scared me half to death. 10/10 would not recommend When I was 12 I took buckshot to the back of my leg whilst hunting. I felt a punching sensation then my leg was really wet. Honestly though the gunshot had hit the ground behind me and kicked up wet shit from the forest floor onto my leg cause it didn’t hurt very bad. My dads friend scooped me up and went running. I didn’t even know what was happening. He was white as a ghost and kept screaming “oh shit” over and over. Didn’t realize I was hit until he threw me in his truck and I noticed the back of my leg looked like extremely bloody hamburger. I don’t remember much after that lol
