Hey everyone. I started making content a few months after I was mentored by a bigger Youtuber (2.65 million subs). I almost lost my “want” to do this, but I found it pretty quickly later. I met this Youtuber after watching a video of his where he accidentally showed his Amazon warehouse nearby on a fan mail video. I told him he should be careful, because I knew almost exactly what city he lived in and even just holding up something like that could cause him some trouble. We’re both Veterans so he invited me to a brewery with his wife. His wife came down, who he insulted multiple times in front of me, and then he demanded that I either gtfo of his house or watch him edit. I chose to stay as I wanted our friendship to possibly work. He jumped into the chair, and started doing exactly what I was doing immediately lol. I gave him 4 suggestions to cuts which he then put into place calling them excellent ideas. We finished the video leaving about 10 of the interviews on the floor and hours worth of footage. He posted the video and I left.
Fast forward through me leaving to Texas and then back to Denver. I shoot another video for him in Downtown. He even put me on camera several times, which my soberness and actor training kicked in and he told me he’ll probably feature me in upcoming videos. I was feeling pretty good about things. He sent me the footage a day later and I told him I would get a rough cut for him done in a couple days as I was very busy. I started working on the footage, working my ideas in, and things were going well, and of course that’s when he starts sending me text messages. He demanded to screen share with me so he could see my progress and that (even after a long detailed conversation about how he wanted edits to go) I was never supposed to give him a rough cut. I was supposed to call him and tell him I was editing so he could monitor my progress. Mind you again that I’ve been editing since 2013 in film school. I finally got fed up, stopped working and quit. I felt so insulted working for him the entire time. He is 100% the most abusive person I’ve ever met, but of course his fans don’t know that from what they see of him. I stopped making content for a few months, until I woke up one day and felt better about myself and the situation.

One of which is at 1.2 million views on Tiktok and another that went to 500k views and “reacted” to them. I did give him permission, this is when we were friends. His entire system is posting 3 reactions a day. Trying to cut footage down as much as he can, and making as much money as possible. He even edited my footage that he reacted to, and with millions of subscribers had the audacity to say his edit was so much better because he shortened a minute long clip to 40 seconds and it hit a million views overnight. Well yeah, you have millions of subscribers… of course it’s going to be seen by more people quicker. Anyways, he blocked me off of everything and I’m happy. I almost have a thousand subs on Youtube, I’m performing stand up now here in Los Angeles and trying the best I can. I hope we all win and stay humble!
TL;DR: I worked for a super toxic bigger Youtuber that treated myself and his wife like a hostile work environment. I had enough after a couple months and quit. His subs don’t know how he treats his wife with disrespect everyday, he’s not funny, he’s not a personality, he’s a reaction channel guy that’s great in 60 seconds or less.You should make a video about it bro. Guaranteed a million views I’ve debated that honestly. I just don’t think I’d want to put it on my page as it wouldn’t make sense for my content. I just started a new project for my channel that’s doing okay! I’m posting 5 shorts a week and 1 feature video a week. It’s making my time a lot easier. I was trying way too many videos for shorts. That was one of my biggest pet peeves about him taking my content and reacting to them, getting 100 times more views on youtube than me and saying it’s because he was more experienced, knows more than me, and how I need to cut my videos to 15 seconds or less. There’s no way to tell my stories in that amount of time unfortunately.
