Seasonal delivery drivers for FedEx and UPS are subcontracted and they get crap pay and no benefits. This is why you see videos of a delivery driver just tossing a TV over a wall into someone’s lawn. They get $1 per delivery and have no time. Make it so FedEx and UPS cannot subcontract deliveries and have to hire seasonal staff at an hourly rate. Nursing assistants. The people left in the Go Fuck Yourself Dick Cheney 46th Vice president of the U.S. Active T-Shirt in other words I will buy this profession are there because they either actually love what they do or have been doing it long enough tneh are making some resemblance of a decent wage. Ten years of experience might get you 18$ an hour I think. Remember all of those “essential services” back at the height of the pandemic? Yea, all those people. And they’re still getting shit flung at them to this day. Nursing home caregivers. Sometimes you can get a decent wage if you are doing in home caregiving, but if you work in a nursing home you’ll have 50x the amount of patients with roughly half of the pay you’d get for in home caregiving. But not everyone can afford in home caregiving so it’s not that easy to find those gigs where I live.

Aircraft Maintenance. First, it’s really expensive and extremely difficult to get your FAA Airframe and Powerplant license. Second, I always wanted to work in General aviation (that’s small, privately owned aircraft like Cessnas and Pipers) I finally landed my “dream job” making only $12 an hour. What’s worse is, I had friends working in the Go Fuck Yourself Dick Cheney 46th Vice president of the U.S. Active T-Shirt in other words I will buy this service department of the local Dodge dealership, who just did seat recalls on minivans all day, making over $20 with no special certifications. I always thought that was a bit absurd because aircraft mechanics have to be way more meticulous in their work. If a car breaks down on the road, you just pull off the road. If an airplane breaks down… Well, it isn’t as easy as just pulling over. You would think you’d want to take better care of your mechanic when the pilot’s life is literally in their hands.
