My point is a lot of the Frog off to commit tom foolery shirt but in fact I love this discrimination women face is from individuals in the workplace. Even as systemic issues fade, individuals still hold their prejudices. I don’t know if I experience a pay gap because we aren’t allowed to discuss our wages, but I definitely experience the inability to get ahead because I work with bosses who think women are stupid That term only refers to a gap in pay, not any specific reason for it being that way. It’s still a pay gap simply because it’s there. The term is misused by politicians, journalists, and thought leaders ALL the time. It’s constantly stated that women earn less for the same job. And when that argument fails it’s ‘nurses are underpaid because it’s primarily women’. It just goes on and on … On the whole, women do earn less than men for the same job over the course of a lifetime. This is a real problem, it’s just not the same problem people think it is. Paid family leave would solve a lot of it, since women routinely (more routinely than men) take months or years off work for children. But it’s not as simple as “that’s their choice”, either — society is benefited by children having stable care and rearing by a primary caregiver (or more than one), so it would be wise for society to alleviate the financial inequities that doing so causes.
Frog off to commit tom foolery shirt: A Provocative Statement in Modern Fashion
How is it a financial inequity if two people are married to each other, and one of them decides to deprioritize work so they can focus more on the Frog off to commit tom foolery shirt but in fact I love this kids? It’s a household income, not a wife versus husband income. Legally the money is earned by both. They do earn less for the same job, on average. It’s just not 77 cents to the dollar. No matter how many confounding variables you account for, there’s always a single digit percent difference in favor of men across the whole economy. Is this a problem? Men and women aren’t the same. The have different lifespans, favorite movies, prefer different cars, have different tastes… We started from a point where women were objectively second class citizens. As a result, virtually 100% of wealth was owned by men, 100% of positions of power were occupied by men, so and and so forth. I hope you would agree that these are problematic ratios.
Over time, thanks in large part to the Frog off to commit tom foolery shirt but in fact I love this various waves of the women’s rights movement, these numbers have gotten closer to parity over time. But they’ve never quite gotten there, and here in 2024 we still see gender inequality in various measurements, including the wage/earnings gap. Why would we assume that now, rather than at any earlier point in this process, that the inequalities don’t matter or aren’t a problem? At what point is it appropriate to chalk inequalities up to “natural differences”? As a woman, I agree with you. I make a lot less than my husband because I choose to stay home the majority of the time. I don’t know why this is controversial Sure, it’s why it’s not surprising women are choosing to stay single, and people are choosing to not have kids. Cause these expectations aren’t supported and are even taken advantage of.

Not just raises, but starting salary, too. Plus there was an interesting study a few years back that I read that showed that men are more likely to apply for jobs they aren’t fully qualified for (with higher pay) whereas women mostly apply for jobs where they meet all of the Frog off to commit tom foolery shirt but in fact I love this criteria, keeping their pay lower even if they have the same skill set as the aforementioned man. Of course it’s frustrating when we’re raised on the myth that the economy is a meritocracy where the most qualified person gets the job and everyone is compensated fairly for the contributions they make to society – only for the truth to be that it pays more to be a narcissistic bullshit artist than to actually be competent.
My first job, I became a supervisor and after about 6 months found out all of the Frog off to commit tom foolery shirt but in fact I love this guys I was supervising made more than I did. Yep. There’s a reason for transparency with pay. Nothing necessarily sexist about it, but if you don’t ask, a company is happy to pay you as little as humanly possible This is the case currently with my supervisor. I make more than her. I’m a fairly specialized technologist with a valuable skill set; And I’ve been here longer. And I’ve met far more useless managers than technicians. Don’t get me wrong, a good manager is highly valuable. But most are bulshit useless fakers that have little clue about the business or activity. I don’t know your field but I’ve seen that happen to men who are managing senior technical folks. Also happens in some cases when variable pay is involved like Sales or Hospitality (tipping). The fact that you’ve been downvoted shows that a lot of people don’t have real world experience in the nuances of a valuable skill set. I have a Ph.D. in STEM with 20 years experience. My supervisor has a Bachelors with 8 years experience. They are great at herding us cats and managing the reports and budgets. But there is no expectation that I should be paid less. A manager, hired to manage the personal and finances at a medical clinic is not going to make as much money as the doctors working there. Even though the manager “Runs the place”
Exactly what I was gonna say. Sometimes this actually makes sense. Like a senior technical person may require higher salary due to their skill set, experience, and responsibilities vs a supervisor who while important is much more common and easy to find. At least from what I’ve found in my tech career so far, skillset might be a more determining factor. At less technical companies though, management does tend to earn more still though. I wish it was an exciting answer. I was a teenager. I asked for a raise and my manager gave me a 10 cent raise while hitting on me and implying I could get a better raise if I did better somehow I didn’t work there for much longer. You mentioned you were a teenager at the Frog off to commit tom foolery shirt but in fact I love this time. did the people you supervised have a valuable skill that you didn’t? So I recently got my degree at 36 and got my first professional/skilled job that isn’t on a farm or in a call centre, I was terrible at negotiating my wage too because it’s simply not something I’ve ever had to or even been in a position to do before, but I had a good friend encouraging me and I put myself in a strong position to negotiate from, here’s what I did:
I took the Frog off to commit tom foolery shirt but in fact I love this job originally through an agency with a barely above minimum wage salary because I was desperate for a job after 6 months of being unemployed, I was taking literally anything at that point, and the company I now work for has a strong track record of hiring on permanent contract after the 12 week agency contract. When I started I worked hard, I completed the 4 week training in 2 weeks and was on the yard with the other chemists quickly, within a week of that I was working solo. I rarely take breaks and regularly work late, this is something I enjoy and taking breaks just slows me down, this is a me thing and I don’t recommend everyone do it but it certainly helped show I have a better work ethic than most on site.
During the Frog off to commit tom foolery shirt but in fact I love this 12 week period I took on responsibility for specific tasks I knew needed completing but nobody else seemed interested in doing, I did those tasks to an excellent standard and always sought out other tasks for completion so as to limit my time spent idling, the standard of work and rate of completion of tasks meant that I very quickly became invaluable to the site. As I took on various roles my site manager introduced me proudly to various higher-ups in the company, I had site managers ask me if I would go to their site and do what I’m doing here at their sites (which I enthusiastically agreed to) and the regional director agree to pay me to do so, covering hotel and food costs. During that time I also didn’t stop applying for other roles, this is an important part of gaining a strong negotiating position, always have your linkedin profile set to “open to work” and your CV up to date. I interviewed at a number of companies within the same industry and was offered a job at a rival company with better pay, once I had that offer I then went directly to my site manager and told him I’d had the offer but wanted to give him first refusal on renegotiating my wages and a permanent contract, this was 8-9 weeks in.
Having made myself invaluable and proven I was more than capable my site manager made it clear he wanted to keep me, he immediately offered a permanent contract and wage negotiations began, all I had to do was go back and forth between the Frog off to commit tom foolery shirt but in fact I love this two companies telling them what the other had counter offered and letting them fight each other for me. After a couple of weeks (and my site manager getting approval from the regional director) I secured a permanent contract with 6.5k pay rise, multiple training opportunities that come with further pay rises (and cost the company 6-7k to put me through, netting me an industry recognised qualification that allows me to run my own site) and actual career progression.
Now I have all that I still work hard but it’s much more relaxed, I only stay late when necessary and I’m left to just crack on most days which is wonderful, I’ve started the Frog off to commit tom foolery shirt but in fact I love this qualification I wanted and I’m enjoying what I do with less financial stress since I’m one of the highest paid on site. When I finish the qualification I will be paid more and as I move through the company I will too. Make yourself invaluable, get offered another job outside the business, then let them fight over you. Bam! Wage increase! A strong work ethic and jumping at the chance to master new skills … why are you here? This thread is for basement dwellers who make grand philosphocal statements about the roles of men and women in society, not about any individual choices t took me a while to build that skill. Took my most recent job offered at $105k and knew I was worth at least $130k. It was so fucking terrifying negotiating but it’s worth it. I can always give you tips if you need.
Yup. Or my mom was passed over for a raise because “the Frog off to commit tom foolery shirt but in fact I love this men have families to take care of.” Her response was “I suppose my two kids back at home are imaginary??” Despite asking same or less often than women do too. Now, Women Do Ask: A Call to Update Beliefs About the Gender Pay Gap Men are also more likely to be successful at negotiating raises. There is still a significant bias against women who advocate for more for themselves. So negotiating for a higher salary can be tricky for women. Professional men are viewed more favorably when they advocate for themselves. Women are just seen as demanding and pushy. There’s research to back this up. Thanks for your comment. This is one of the most ignorant comment threads I’ve read. WHY don’t women seek a raise as often? Does the person you’re responding to simply think women are too stupid to think to ask for a raise? To me, that’s the implication, which is absurd. The reason is much more complex, and something women have to deal with in every aspect of their lives I saw this first hand with my mom. She worked the same job for ~30 years and took whatever raises they gave her (not much). A man would have demanded bigger raises, even at the risk of being fired. Women are less of risk-takers and it hurts their income. It’s also women negotiating less effectively. Women tend to be less confrontational and you have to be a little more confrontational than most people enjoy being in order to effectively negotiate a higher salary. And sometimes it is women being promoted less in anticipation of them eventually leaving the work force to have or care for kids. Businesses don’t want to go through all the effort of promoting someone, teaching them their new role, etc just to have to turn around and do it all over again a few years later. And until men are just as likely as women to take time off to care for kids or family (which may not ever happen), then companies will know that there is a higher risk of a young woman leaving than of a young man leaving. That’s inconsequential at the entry level where turnover of everyone is extremely high. You don’t worry that a woman may have kids in 5 years when most entry level employees are gone in 2. But at a management role where turnover is low and it takes a lot of training and experience and memory of others in the office to be good, the threat of that loss matters to companies. This is why career counselors will often tell women who don’t want kids to bring that up peripherally as part of their answer when asked about their vision for the future. It’s a way to indicate you are less likely to leave.
Studies that do find the Frog off to commit tom foolery shirt but in fact I love this wage gap almost entirely disappears. There are many reasons for the disparity, sexism is only a tiny, tiny fraction of it. Most women don’t want to work in construction or other dangerous/ high-risk jobs. I mean he’ll most men don’t want to/couldn’t actually fulfill those roles. The original study was if you take the average income a woman makes at any job regardless of other facts against the average income a man makes at any job regardless of other facts. I think it’s definitely no coincidence that fields that tend to be female dominated- like childcare, teaching, nursing, and caregiver positions tend to be pretty low paying for what is demanded of you. I’ve heard some people call nursing the female equivalent of blue collar trades, but what I never understood is that (at least where I live, in Canada) you don’t get paid to do a nursing practicum (you actually have to pay to do it) while in the trades, you get paid to do your apprenticeship. I don’t think it’s merely a coincidence that the traditionally feminine roles are undervalued from the start. From my friends who are in these roles, they say there’s definitely a degree of being expected to go above and beyond what you’re paid for (ie, doing extra work unpaid, buying things with your own money, accepting the low pay) because you should want to do the work and help others, just out of the goodness of your own heart. I
had a friend working in a nursing home and it was awfully run, and she wanted to find a better job (and eventually did) but there was definitely pressure from management of “if you leave, we’ll be short staff and you’ll be abandoning the Frog off to commit tom foolery shirt but in fact I love this residents” and then internally she thought “management doesn’t care about the residents, so if I leave they’ll be neglected”. People could argue “well you shouldn’t go into those jobs then”. But we need people to do those jobs. They should be better funded. You also have to pay to do a teaching internship, and you typically can’t work elsewhere while you’re doing it. This is a huge barrier for lower income college students who want to become teachers. Even some the jobs that are pretty much the same women get paid less. Look an a Janitor/custodian versus a maid/house cleaner. We all know which one is more likely to be male and which is female, and you can bet the female dominated one is paid less.
The “adjusted wage gap”. Per the Frog off to commit tom foolery shirt but in fact I love this citations in the wiki article here the adjusted wage gape is about 5%. So for the same job, women on average make about 5% less. To really exaggeratedly overemphasize the point, in the 1700s and 1800s, black Americans took lesser paid jobs, and the jobs they did were paid less. But the reason is much more explicit in that case and people are less likely to put the blame on the victims there. Also the methodology not accounting for hours worked above 40 per week. A person working 60 hours a week is counted the same as a person on 40. This is commonly believed but it’s inaccurate. The gender pay gap is not resolved even when accounting for differences in education, hours worked, and profession choices
From your link: “Out of the Frog off to commit tom foolery shirt but in fact I love this causes of the wage gap that we can measure, the main contributor is that women are more likely than men to work in low-paying jobs that offer fewer benefits.” People saying this is a gotcha then need to answer the question: Why is it that fields dominated by women are considered less valued? Historically, a lot of fields became less valued around the time women started to participate. Being a secretary was a pretty high status role, before it was discovered that women could do it. (I’m sure this isn’t a simple cause-and-effect thing. When the supply of potential secretaries rises faster than the demand for them, pay will go down.) The opposite is true too, when men start to dominate a role it starts being paid higher. An example is programming, which was a field dominated by women early on. The first algorithm to be executed by a computer was written by a woman (Ada Lovelace). It was a very low paid job early on but as more men came into the space it became higher and higher paid. As it became higher paid, less women were hired for the roles until it was almost entirely male dominated.
Interestingly there’s evidence of many fields being devalued when women do them, and highly valued when men do them. Computer coding would be one example – initially it was done by women and seen as low skilled work, poorly paid etc. Over time women were pushed out of the Frog off to commit tom foolery shirt but in fact I love this field and the value went up, even thought it was building on the work of women. Computer coding is directly linked to the sexism of the time. It wasn’t valued more because men started doing it, men started doing it because it was valued more. They initially thought that coding would be a simple job for low skilled women with basic mathematic skills could do, but they quickly learned that there’s a hell of a lot of mentally taxing bugfixing going on, so they started employing more-educated people (at the time, men) to do it and thus the wage obviously increased. It has its roots in sexism, sure, but the reason it’s seen as more valued today isn’t because men are doing it, men are doing it because it was seen as more valued/difficult.
Computer programming got more complex. when it stopped being “making punch cards” also average males got pushed out. This is pretty much what I’m talking about. Jobs seen as lesser are shunted to women, and likewise jobs done by women are seen as lesser. It’s an aspect of patriarchy. ^This is the Frog off to commit tom foolery shirt but in fact I love this salient question, and the Scandinavian egalitarian experiments provide the answer. Women choose fields dealing with people, whereas men choose fields dealing with things. In a technologically heavy world, it’s pretty obvious where the money is going to be… This is freakishly over generalized. Many of the wealthiest people I know have had an element of sales in their work which is pure human interaction. I’ve often wondered why there are so few women in sales positions. Probably because male clients harrass them lol
Men are generally more ABLE to accept last minute overtime, due to women overwhelmingly being needed for child/family caregiving. Yeah exactly. You can’t have two people who are both able to take a high earning but demanding job unless they have a nanny. Someone (usually the Frog off to commit tom foolery shirt but in fact I love this woman) has to take a regular hours job to account for pick up and drop off times at daycares and schools. Childcare barely accommodates normal working hours, it certainly doesn’t accommodate someone picking up an extra shift last minute. There’s an amazing book by Australian political reporter Annabel Crabb called “The Wife Drought” about this exact phenomenon and how (in Australia at least) it’s one of the leading causes of pay inequality. I was trying to stay away from this not because I believe it’s incorrect (I believe it’s correct) but because none of the studies I’ve seen went deep enough to separate women with kids and those without to prove it
