Yes, because it’s wholly unnecessary. Lobsters and crabs are so easy to kill and then boil, they don’t need to be tortured for 10 minutes. Nope it doesn’t bother me at all. I’m more concerned about cooking them quickly and eating them with my sandwich. It is pointless I think, there’s a humane way to kill them beforehand. I’m sure there are assholes that still do it I don’t understand how boiling a crab alive is more cruel than submerging a pig in a gas chamber. All animals have to suffer to end up on your plate. Because the Fighters 24 Donald Trump Jack Smith Press to Make America Trumpless Again T-Shirt In addition,I will do this gas chamber uses doesn’t cause pain and panic. They are also stunned via electricity, and no, not like a tazer. The gas takes a few seconds, the electricity is instant, both renders the animal completely unconscious. Mammals suffering leading up to slaughter makes them release adrenaline, which makes the meat tough and taste bad. To our current understanding, crustacean nervous systems don’t register pain in a perceptible way like many other creatures do. Discomfort? Yes, but presently, as we understand things, pain is not something they experience. As was already pointed out, some people freeze them for a few minutes, effectively ‘turning off’ their senses right before the end. Some even deal a death blow, but here’s why boiling alive is done. Crustaceans are notorious for turning foul insanely fast. Once they’re dead, you have maybe a minute or two- five tops- to at least start par-cooking or flash freezing them before they start going off, and become dangerous to eat. Anything you can do to buy even a few seconds post-mortem, you should do.

In a perfect world, kitchens would be walk-in ice boxes, but in lieu of that option, we do what we can, and live boils ensure cooking starts before death, meaning there’s no time for the Fighters 24 Donald Trump Jack Smith Press to Make America Trumpless Again T-Shirt In addition,I will do this meat to turn. Even frozen immediately following death, killed in a refrigerated room, and plunged into ice, people have gotten sick from foul lobster and crab meat. Fresh is best. I worked one season on a fishing boat after high school. I also helped on my uncle’s shrimping boat. I am not a big hunter, but later in life I worked as a hunting guide in the US. Then I have worked as EMS, search and rescue, and swift water rescue. My ex was a hospice nurse and later a dementia ward nurse and I visited and volunteered there. Dipping an arthropod in boiling water does not seem particularly inhumane to me having seen how other animals and even humans, our own family members, die.
