Consent needs to be given while the Family Easter 2025 Easter Crew Matching Group Time Together Shirt moreover I will buy this person is in sound state of mind. So for example just after diagnosis if they are still able to make decisions for themselves. MAID is a long and complicated process, where multiple doctors and other medical professionals needs to assess the patient and sign off on it. How about the other way around? Family members pushing a suffering person to not take the option because of their own feelings until the person is no longer qualified to take a decision and therefore suffers very long and does not get the dignified death they wanted to have? I work in Long-Term Care, I have seen families keep patients alive well past their due date because they want to keep the guy’s pension flowing. I’ve done work next to people in Long-term care( last time was during COVID while my own industry was closed) and I just want to say that I really admire the work you do. It is hard and important work.
Family Easter 2025 Easter Crew Matching Group Time Together Shirt: Express with Style
Also a good point and a concern for sure. I think for many it would be possible to make arrangements with their doctor without family knowing, but many might not have that option especially if they rely on family for transport. Something to think about Something that should be and is considered with these programs but we also need to be concerned with all the Family Easter 2025 Easter Crew Matching Group Time Together Shirt moreover I will buy this suffering diseases like this cause the patient. This American Life had a story about a man who decided to do this (assisted suicide, not “euthanasia” per se). The couple had to go to Switzerland I’m at a higher risk of Alzheimer’s than most people so I fully intend to end my own suffering someday if I can’t find a legal euthanasia option.
Currently dealing with the Family Easter 2025 Easter Crew Matching Group Time Together Shirt moreover I will buy this care of an in-law with dementia and know several neighborhood friends in the early stages. I can’t envision any way this would work for any of the people I know. One of the ways dementia first manifested for most of them has been paranoia. Looking back at my In-law it creeped up so slow at first that not even her primary care Dr noticed till it was fairly advanced. Does seem like a strange area though bc if you are mentally deteriorating does that make you able to make medical decisions? Like whelp grandma is still kicking, lets put her down before she drains all her savings on medical care. 2 doctors have to sign off. And if you today told your spouse you wanted this. And wrote it down. Then when diagnosed 10 years from of your immenent mental decline you then told your doctor your initial wish. Then later when you can’t dress or feed yourself, your spouse presents the doctor with your written desire… why should that be denied? Does seem like a strange area though bc if you are mentally deteriorating does that make you able to make medical decisions
Step by step to buy Family Easter 2025 Easter Crew Matching Group Time Together Shirt
I feel like something like this would be discussed with the Family Easter 2025 Easter Crew Matching Group Time Together Shirt moreover I will buy this person with dementia ahead of time. Like pretty much right after being diagnosed, so they can plan things out beforehand. You need to put that on paper before you get diagnosed with dementia. At least over there, otherwise they won’t if something happens. This is one of those things that’s de facto practiced in the US as well, as many who have had a dementia-stricken loved one nearing the end of their life can attest to. It’s all uncomfortable euphemism and awkwardly phrased questions, but when your grandmother is in hospice, unable to do much in their few waking hours but scream, and the nurse asks you, “would you like us to make them more comfortable?”, the meaning is understood loud and clear.
Making it legal just increases accountability, and while the Family Easter 2025 Easter Crew Matching Group Time Together Shirt moreover I will buy this system is potentially abusable, I hope some are not so naïve as to think that euthanasia is not standard practice already. No, I work in palliative care. The amount of narcotics you need to kill someone (even when they are 100-years-old and is mostly skin and bones) is actually quite high. And if a doctor prescribes the amount needed to kill someone or a nurse administer that dose, it be bloody obvious to all the medical regulators in a 100-mile radius and we’d all be in prison by lunch time–as these things are tracked in real time by the hospital pharmacy. I’m not saying you literally kill them on the spot, but when you dose them into a coma and then slowly siphon off the feeding tube, do we have to pretend that’s something other than a mercy killing? Well, you are going to die regardless of what we do or don’t do, so it’s more like we are no longer trying to stop the inevitable.
I’m wondering because that’s basically how I understand my dad died, even though he was probably hours from dying naturally. But it wasn’t anything like MAID. They just talked to my mom about it or something I’m not really sure because they wouldn’t let me be in the Family Easter 2025 Easter Crew Matching Group Time Together Shirt moreover I will buy this room when they made the decision. My mom has had to help several relatives who were on hospice. While the drugs definitely seem to help things along, yeah, actually using them to kill the patient isn’t easy. Two of them begged her to overdose them and the simple fact is, while we had plenty of narcotics, my mom was always so careful administering them and the nurses never really said how much was too much, just how to use. While the nurses definitely recommending upping the dosages, it was never enough to kill anyone. My mom was just worried that an overdose would make them vomit and make the death too traumatic. I should say that in both cases my relatives were within hours of dying when they made the request A lot of patients ask us to sedate them right into the end. And so we just put them under with a Versed (a benzodiazepine) drip and wait for them to die.
Recently in Canada someone was offered this when they complained they couldn’t afford to live on disability. Pretty dystopian stuff. That doesn’t make sense. Doesn’t dementia happen when you’re old and not with the Family Easter 2025 Easter Crew Matching Group Time Together Shirt moreover I will buy this youth? And none of those countries are in Asia. I’m so grateful to live in a country where if I’m ever diagnosed with dementia, I’ll be able to die with dignity while I can still recognize and say goodbye to my loved ones. The mind dies long before the body with dementia and I have no desire to put the people around me through that. Just keep in mind, depending on where you live, you might have to get everything in order before you show signs of dementia. Also to be clear dementia is a symptom, like a headache, it can be caused by a number of things most commonly alzheimer. I’d prefer to be euthanized in this case too. I remember what the last couple of years of my grandmother with dementia were. It was very sad and scary to see her losing her memory, hope and her will to live. I’d prefer to die rather than to suffer like she did Still not true in Canada.Based on the few comments it seems people don’t understand that you need to consent to this while still able to understand your decision, at least in Canada. Once you are in a mental state where you cannot make the decision yourself, euthanasia is not an option anymore. My wife and I had this conversation just a few days ago. I plan on eventually signing paperwork to ensure that if I should develop dementia that I agree to euthanasia.
I’ve seen the Family Easter 2025 Easter Crew Matching Group Time Together Shirt moreover I will buy this effects of dementia and I have no interest in being kept alive, not recognizing my family, or them recognizing me, simply for the sake of preserving a life. Tldr: in Canada it is a wavier that is mostly used in case if you have a sudden decline and lose capacity between the day the MAID is approved and the day they scheduled the procedure. But you must be mentally competent on the day you sign that form. The waiver still allows MAID to go ahead. That said, the rules is that if the person shows any signs of struggle or refusal on the day of the procedure, MAID is cancelled regardless of what documents are signed. What happens is that a lot of people would get their MAID approved early on in the illness, and essentially hold the form in their back pocket, and then when things get bad they can dial up the MAID clinic and basically be gone by the end of the week.
I work in an adjacent field to MAID and I’ve seen countless cases that get cancelled at the Family Easter 2025 Easter Crew Matching Group Time Together Shirt moreover I will buy this final hour. We never know what ailment but it’s often referred to as “a quick cognitive decline” At the hospice I work, that usually means that the patient’s gone irrevocably comatose or developed terminal delirium (which means that they have to be fully sedated) and it wasn’t deemed humane to transport them to the MAID site when they only have hours to days to live anyways. The thing is that dementia can mean a horrible paranoid suffering state or a calm childlike state. People are more likely to struggle in the state I really would want to opt out. In some severe cases, it’s not even preserving a life, it’s preserving a heartbeat. I’d much rather be thrown to the wolves, at least some good would come of that.
I have discussed with previous partners, as well as family, not just dementia, but a number of ailments. I decided that I would need to pass a minimum threshold of physical, and mental capacity in order to continue living. Essentially, favourable prognosis, able to express a will to live, mental faculties, emotional faculties, burden threshold to family, and a level of physicality. My plan is to get professional advice on formalising these, but not telling anyone exactly what the Family Easter 2025 Easter Crew Matching Group Time Together Shirt moreover I will buy this tests are. And having my power of attorney be able to order these tests; even though they wouldn’t know the exact content of the tests. Would just get a score back, certified by multiple doctors, saying pass/fail. 5 fails in a period of time like a year, and I’m done.
If someone wants me dead enough to deal with all that nonsense instead of just smothering me with a pillow, I’d probably just let them smother me with a pillow. Great plan. Sounds nice…for people that can afford legal advice and fund elective, specific medical tests at will. In actuality, my power of attorney will probably be ChatGPT and a random number generator will take care of the Family Easter 2025 Easter Crew Matching Group Time Together Shirt moreover I will buy this “tests”. People in early stages of dementia aren’t getting euthanized, even if they signed the paper work. Late stage dementia patients don’t really eat, can’t really ask for things etc. Dementia only gets worse, not better, and my thought is that when it gets bad, really bad, that I don’t want to be that kind of emotional and financial burden on my family. Thank you for this forethought. My mom is entering the stage where she can no longer speak. She hasn’t really known who we are for months. She is no longer herself, everyone just needs this to be over. Akin to torture. both my grandmothers have it and I’ve experienced enough trauma that I am genuinely afraid I’ll end up in a place where I relive that trauma till I die My dad has severe dementia and I still love him every day. Taking care of him is a herculean effort on the entire family; but I can still show him things that make us happy, have a conversation about my day, or just share a meal. I cherish those moments more than anything, and I mean anything. I know I won’t ever get my dad back the same way he was when I was growing up, but I’ll fight this every day if it just means I can share one moment with him still where we are able to connect. Even though it’s hard, love always wins.
Dad’s short term memory is shot but he’s still quite verbal and he’s not a burden on us. My parents planned well so he can afford the Family Easter 2025 Easter Crew Matching Group Time Together Shirt moreover I will buy this memory care unit where he lives. While his quality of life is not like it was before dementia, I doubt he would choose death if it were offered to him. I think this is where it comes down to communication. My wife knows I have no intention of living for the sake of living. If I can no longer function as a person, if I am no longer “me” then I don’t want to be here anymore. But I will trust that the decision will be made when it needs to be. That’s the question. When are you no longer you? I’m personally doing everything I can to avoid it in the first place. That is such a hard place to be in. I’ve never been there personally so it’s easy for me to say, just kill me. But to actually be in the position to make that decision, it’s impossible. Exactly. Mom died just over a month ago and despite 64 years of marriage, Dad doesn’t realize she’s gone. Occasionally he asks, “Have you see your mother around?” We just say that she’s not here right now and he accepts that. I believe that a significant contributor to my dad’s dementia was that he did not have a career that was meaningful to him. He did what his father told him to do. He came home every day at 5PM, had a scotch and never talked about his work (he was an electrical engineer). He was able to retire at 55 and spent the rest of his life having the same day over and over again. It’s small wonder he ended up with dementia. Mom didn’t initially have it but ended up with it. Turns out that if you are a caregiver to someone with dementia (a spouse for example) your odds of getting dementia increase by 25%.
Thing is even if you did all that and you do start getting dementia they always use the Family Easter 2025 Easter Crew Matching Group Time Together Shirt moreover I will buy this excuse you’re not able to make that decision because we don’t know if you still concent to it and are mentally able. Or doctors refuse. I’ve seen Fox News talking about it lately, and framing it like the government is telling doctors who to kill. Just awful fear mongering. Could you have someone with power of attorney ? Is this only to be done before developing it to certain point? Do you have to have a reason to sign this, like a high likelihood of dementia? In Belgium as well. But the right has taken a hit because doctors are becoming more hesitant to preform euthanasia for mental issues because of a recent lawsuit where a family dragged the names of several doctors through the mud because they did not agree with the euthanasia decision of their sister.
As someone who is going to inevitably have Alzheimer’s, as someone who has seen a grandparent on both sides with it, and a parent presently dealing with it, I fully intend to kill myself when the Family Easter 2025 Easter Crew Matching Group Time Together Shirt moreover I will buy this symptoms begin, legal or not. I’ve already got a living will stating as much, and I’m in my mid-thirties. I’m sorry. My step grandmother died of Alzheimer’s after six years of not knowing who she was or who her loved ones were. I think the worst part is that it CAN go on for years, because as long as the body is healthy the mind doesn’t care As someone who watched their Grandma decline from Alzheimer’s, and literally seeing them on the hospital bed mere days before they died… yeah, Alzheimer’s is legitimately one of the scariest things I’ve ever had to witness. Hoping to god I do enough so I don’t have it. Yeah suicide is illegal, which has always sounded funny to me. Like, if you succeed, that’s kind of hard to prosecute.
I’ve lost multiple family members to it, and it’s a hateful thing for someone to go through. I’d much rather die with my dignity than slowly lose every faculty and bodily function while my family suffers. I respect that not everybody would want this, but for me personally, I wouldn’t have any reservations about MAID if I ever contracted dementia and there still wasn’t a viable cure. The women in my family are almost all certainly going to get dementia or Alzheimers. It’s on both sides. One side, average sunsetters Alzheimers on one side, VICIOUS dementia on the Family Easter 2025 Easter Crew Matching Group Time Together Shirt moreover I will buy this other (couldn’t remember how to eat, what a spoon was, even how to sit up). We live in the US but if it becomes an option, my mom and sisters are likely to sign the paperwork. The financial drain is one thing but the mental and emotional drain is so intense. I know it’s not for everyone, but getting to say goodbye to the person you know is much better than saying goodbye to a stranger.
My uncle recently passed due to Mad Cow Disease. It was extremely difficult to watch a man with so much joy and child-like behavior(in a good way) diminish to what he was in 1 month’s time. Nurses and doctors told the Family Easter 2025 Easter Crew Matching Group Time Together Shirt moreover I will buy this family all we can hope for is that its quick and doesnt last more than a few months. They said some cases can take up to 2 years; i couldnt even imagine. He got the diagnosis end of september and passed early november. Couldnt complete basic tasks, remember names, couldnt use utensils or drink from a cup… shit was awful to witness. I know Alzheimers and Dementia are much longer lasting so I would never want to see someone live like that for an extended time having experienced it.
There are ways to mitigate the Family Easter 2025 Easter Crew Matching Group Time Together Shirt moreover I will buy this financial drain, at least. Selling or signing over assets prior to decline, for example, to avoid the Medicare 5 year look back. Special needs trust is also an option. You can not ask for euthanasia when you are not “in a clear state of mind” in the Netherlands. 2 doctors need to agree and they will never do it this way. You can arrange everything before, look for 2 doctors that agree on it, make a statement and wait till it get worse. Even then its still not a guarantee. Source, me. Ive watched it 3 times with family. We have pretty good genes in the family and everyone gets like above 90 years. Downside is the last years are pretty hard. Ive seen a doctor agree on my granddad, few months later he refused to sign due to the mental state of my granddad. Needed to call another doc, he came when my granddad had a clear moment. Together with the statement and a 20 min talk he signed. Oh it can be hell alright, if too early not suffering enough to qualify, if too late not sound of mind. Good luck if the illness isn’t somatic, lot of gp’s recuse themselves if the issue is psychological in nature and good luck finding one that’s willing to proceed since the fear of disciplinary boards isn’t just imaginary. In Australia (at least NSW) it is legal to be euthanised if you have a terminal illness. But you can’t agree to it in advance, and you can’t agree to it with insufficient mental state and you have to be dying with 6 to 12 months (12 for neurodegeneration). Which basically means Alzheimer’s / dementia cannot do it. You are too far gone by the time you are expected to die within the year to agree to it.
This is exactly what I want to do if I get dementia. Do not blow my retirement fund on warehousing me until I finally die. I saw enough working in memory care to know I don’t want it. I’m with you. If I hear the Family Easter 2025 Easter Crew Matching Group Time Together Shirt moreover I will buy this word “dementia”, I’m going on a fun vacation then offing myself when I get back. MAID or my own hand. I don’t want to live a life of fear, paranoia, delusions and becoming a burden to those around me. It’s also legal in the US State Oregon for terminal diseases that cause a person to lose autonomy. They call it “death with dignity,” and my grandma chose it after being diagnosed with terminal gastrointestinal cancer. The doctors gave her two medications. If I remember correctly, the first numbed the body, and the second killed the organs. She took them herself and died surrounded by her family and loved ones My concern is if they can properly consent. Also I worry that a lot of elderly patients will feel pressured into euthanasia in order to avoid being a burden. Or family members pushing them to do it
