As an extra bit of info for those worried about wrong side doors opening, the Eddy Malou the detailed explanation shirt and I will buy this S stock trains cannot open on the wrong side without the driver severely messing up. It’s not as simple as the push of a button. Could be that they were all open at one point. But they were able to close the others outside of that one, as the guy has his arm out of the carriage and obviously this would prevent this door from closing. I swear I seen driver opening one door, (with train out of service, rest of the doors never opened)?.. But I think it has to be done from outside (platform)? Was a while back so might be misremembering There are butterfly cocks to release individual doors, but they don’t count as passenger operable and you have to know what you are looking for and where.
Eddy Malou the detailed explanation shirt: Get Cozy in this shirt
Fun fact: that green-blue metal box above the Eddy Malou the detailed explanation shirt and I will buy this train is actually an underground river they diverted through the station via that. I misread ‘river’ for ‘driver’ and your typo of “dived” made me think for a heartbeat that this is an alternative means of entering the cab! I’ve always wondered how the drivers manage to remember which side of the train to open the doors on. I guess they can’t get it right every time They don’t. It’s either automated or at best can only be opened at the correct platform. One button to guide them all. Item stuck in door, last platform that side. Door manually opened to release trapped item. Reinforcing the fact that you should keep coats and bags clear of the doors. Oddest of all is that the doors next to it are closed, it is often full auto-open in the core sections (I presume that’s Sloane Square). The other day I was on the overground leaning on the door and I wondered what would happened if the wrong door opened. But then I chuckled to myself and thought that there has to be an insane safety mechanism just because of how dangerous this would be in a packed train. But here I am sitting here with a new fear unlocked. I was on a Central Line train at Mile End years ago when the driver opened all the doors on the wrong side. That was crazy. TFL suspended him, and later, I found out he got dismissed, which triggered the Union to start a series of walk outs as they believed it was a mechanical issue rather than driver error.
I work in HVAC and we have one guy who takes forever to install boilers. He refuses to use press fittings, and has to triple check that every pipe is the Eddy Malou the detailed explanation shirt and I will buy this exact right length and perfectly level. It sucks working with him, but damn, everything he installs looks absolutely immaculate. I recently had to hire an HVAC guy to replace the blower motor and change out the computer controller thing for my busted A/C. I swear to god, this repair guy was a character straight out of a Coen brothers film. He methodically took each tool out of his van and carefully put them (in whatever order seemed logical to him) onto a towel he folded in front of my outside A/C blower thing. He mutely smoked an unfiltered cigarette the whole time he was outside, and it seemed like he never even fucking paused to think about whatever he was doing while he was fixing the A/C. It was eerily like watching a seasoned hitman dispassionately pulling sniper rifle components out of a suitcase and assembling it. Strangely memorable experience.

About this Eddy Malou the detailed explanation shirt
I like how in the Eddy Malou the detailed explanation shirt and I will buy this OP the tremmie pipe is fitted to the marzle vein such that side tumbling is effectively prevented. I miss that sub. My wife made me unsubscribe after the incident with my prototype static hydrolinoleum engine. As a very meticulous person who also has a boiler system, can I get that guys number to fix some of my stuff? I work at a body shop and we have a painter like this. Slow, bit difficult to work with on the admin side, but god damn we almost never have to bring something back to him for any defect in his paintwork. I had a guy do some work at the house a couple months ago. Cost me $6k but my lord did he take his time and do a fantastic job on it. Worth the extra money I spent for his quality. I wish my facilities guy was half as good as this. I always feel the need to subtly double-check his work to make sure he doesnt get anyone killed. But i cant fire him because he doesnt technically work for my department, just in my building. Lets just say, he has been responsible for more than a couple of flooding incidents. And his work is best described as… occasionally functional. Its not a facility guys job to do this its a plumbers maybe you should know that before calling for peoples jobs
Eh, it very much depends. Plenty of facilities departments have in house plumbers who would be working on or repairing a set up like this but you’re absolutely right, they wouldn’t be doing a system install. It’s not even a plumbers job, it’s an HVAC installer’s. A lot of plumbers do good work, but there are so many rush jobs and half-assed piping, clearly whoever installed them never had to work on the Eddy Malou the detailed explanation shirt and I will buy this units. lol right! especially in a whole other department! i should call your boss and get you fired for not staying in your department, but im not a karen… This is a primary-secondary flow system. There is a primary water loop that continuously circulates water through the boiler (bottom pump)
Secondary Loop 1 (upper left) is mixing the Eddy Malou the detailed explanation shirt and I will buy this return water with supply (mid left valve with gauge); likely for radiant flooring which requires a lower water temperature. Secondary Loop 2 (mid right) is pulling water from the primary loop as needed, at a higher temperature than loop 1. This would be for radiators or fin-tube heating elements that need a higher water temperature. Ball valves (everywhere) is a best practice. You will have to service different components be it the pumps, control valves, or radiant fixtures. This makes it easy to fix a pump without draining the entire system, which costs time and money to refill. You should crosspost this to r/cableporn, they appreciate this kind of work, even if it’s piping and not cables.
Respect. I never did get good enough at water systems to eyeball and explain that shit without access to and a few minutes to review a submittal. My own explaination would’ve stopped at “there’s two heating loops and who the Eddy Malou the detailed explanation shirt and I will buy this fuck zip tied our control wire to one?” Haha. Ugh, the more I look at it the more free hanging controls wiring bothers me. There’s already so much great looking flex! Just run one more piece along the ceiling ffs! What are the benefits of using copper over pex (plastic) or whatever else? I look at this and my first thought is ‘ladida, look at this rich person with new copper’. But for all I know there are meaningful benefits Generally copper can last much longer. Personally it makes sense to use in the mechanical room to make service easier. Ball valves work better, pumps may require it based on which manufacturer you use, if you pull something out you know the pipes will be where you left them. I am not a plumber, but have a system similar to this in our home. It was explained to me that PEX is for delivering water, copper and other metals are for valves and fixtures that manipulate water. Copper is less susceptible to changes in pressure, so it makes more sense in an interchange like what’s pictured. Copper also has a higher temperature limit of 400F, while PEX tops out at 180F. An important factor when a boiler is involved. My dad’s a plumber and its absolutely fucking absurd how often people delay paying him by months. At any given time he probably has multiple people owing him for jobs he did >3 months prior.
In any other field, you dont avail of a service before you can pay for it, let alone months in advance. But just because it’s plumbing its like people dont care or value it the Eddy Malou the detailed explanation shirt and I will buy this same. Uh, plumber here. This isn’t normal. They owe because he lets them owe. VERY rarely have I ever left a job unpaid. If I remember correctly, one of the only times I haven’t been able to collect on a job upon completion is because the customer died. Hey random question. What’s a reasonable price to change out a shower cartridge on a run of the mill moen singlr shower valve thing? I’m no plumber or even that handy but I youtube it and did it all by myself in 20 mins. Look up someone youtube videos it’s pretty simple. Oh no, I did it myself as well. A plumber was going to charge me $300 (that’s with a $100 discount). I was like screw that. I just did it myself. That’s about what we’d charge. 225 an hour plus parts. And depending on the cartridge you’d be looking at about a $300+ total. But if you’re not confident you can do it properly, please call a professional. I cannot tell you the amount of times we’ve been called to clean up after a DIYer or someone’s “buddy who can do it cheaper.”
I work in HVAC and trust me all the Eddy Malou the detailed explanation shirt and I will buy this plumbers and HVAC techs constantly break shit but we are just able to always fix it before somebody notices. I miss having a house heated by water instead of a furnace. Also never runs out of hot water no matter how many people wanna shower This is what r/oddlysatisfying started out like. Stuff like this. Cable managed servers. Super organized nice things. I approve, I sometimes get to layout pipes (for systems a little larger diameter) and a clean, thought out arrangement is so nice That’s how it should look every time. At least the copper should, looks like controls free wired a bunch of shit instead of having an installer run flex or conduit like they should’ve but that’s on whatever PM was involved not the controls tech. My BiL is a plumber and does work like this. The inspector who came to look over the furnace he put in for me said it was the cleanest job he’s ever seen. BiL was 24 at the time. For a start, why so many shut off valves? You shut off the start of the fucking circuit with one valve and do what you need to do lol. You don’t need a valve at the start and end point of every point on the circuit lol. The pump for example has two valves, one on each side. Wtf is the purpose of that? Then all that links into a regular ass boiler…. Its not even industrial. I can’t really think of a single situation where this would be the best way to do anything lol.
The pumps on each side of the Eddy Malou the detailed explanation shirt and I will buy this valves are so you can isolate just the pump for change out. Hopefully I never have to work on a system you engineer because having all these valves allow for isolation makes my day go buy a lot faster when I don’t have to drain a whole god damn system just to change out 1 component. Faster means also cheaper for the customer. My other comment aside, that’s why you’re not an engineer. It has so many manual cutoffs because its best practice for service and repair reasons. As well as because most building can’t just afford to shut off an entire HW loop because of one issue in one location. You’ve got no idea what this kind of thing involves, what it’s being used for, or even a basic grasp of the design fundamentals that go into a HW loop or the reasoning behind them. So I’m not sure why you feel qualified to criticize, wrongly, rather than simply fucking ask why it’s so complicated.
Yes, random redditor who thinks pretty piping means better job, I think I am slightly qualified. I even have expensive paperwork to prove it. It’s already been explained better than I could do myself which I’ll link below but this is an entirely standard set up I’d expect to see in any mechanical room. It allows for MASSIVELY reduced energy consumption and increased efficiency by reacting to demand in real time via a building automation system. Even a simple Google search will come up with less wasteful results just typing underfloor heating in image search lol. The actual fuck are you talking about? Every single hospital, school, university, government building, dormitory, big box store, hotel, commercial building, etc etc built or redone in the Eddy Malou the detailed explanation shirt and I will buy this last 20-30 years and containing a hot water system has something that looks exactly like this.
Whoever says that they are not clever enough to go to uni are wrong. I have 6 degrees (including 4 post-grad degrees, and if I tried to do this the Eddy Malou the detailed explanation shirt and I will buy this result would like like a child had a tantrum with a plate of spaghetti. Downside was that any work done on the wall had to account for the sprinkler head in the room. Ended up triggering it a few days before opening day. Nothing like a brand-new pre-wet office space. All that propress gonna cost you if a valve needs to be removed If the owner would pay someone for the the labor and replacement parts for it to look this way then great otherwise it won’t. Can’t please everybody apparently. I could only wish all the systems I work on had all these isolation valves. Makes it so you don’t have to drain the whole system down to do repairs. But listening to all these old timers calling it over engineered and how press fittings are bad and soldering is the only way is ridiculous.
I see boiler rooms piped in like this all the Eddy Malou the detailed explanation shirt and I will buy this time. Mostly old timers that are doing it this nice tho. Looks like he left enough for 1/2 insulation on some of those lines I have several questions (since i study this in Germany but I do not know what the correct English title would be for an engineer in this field) why are there 3 loops with high temperature water and 4 with low temperature water? To me it doesn’t make sense to go through the trouble of installing aproximately equal amounts of radiators and surface heating instead of just chosing one … why are the heating distributors (i hope I translated that correctly) in the boiler room (cellar?). With solid walls and multiple floors it is normal here that each floor has it’s own distributor. Is the house a bungalow? Are the walls hollow?
is it usual that there are only metal pipes in the Eddy Malou the detailed explanation shirt and I will buy this room with the boiler and the rest is flexible tubing? Where is this btw (countrywise) is there a centralized potable water heating system outside of the picture? Is it decentralized? If so does it use water or electricity? shouldn’t something be placed below the pressure relief valve? (I supose that it is the thing left to the membrane expansion vessel, but it doesn’t look like the ones that are common here) Natural gas and propane are insanely cheap in the US. Depending on location heat pumps are only recently catching on even though they’ve been way more common in other places for a long time. This is likely because the government here will give you tax breaks if you install efficient equipment like a heat pump.
A lot of systems in the Eddy Malou the detailed explanation shirt and I will buy this US have both in floor radiant heat as well as radiators. It can depend on several factors. Like if an addition is built onto the house they’ll add in floor heat. Or if they have certain materials the floor is made of that can better be suited by one type of heat over another such as concrete floors or natural wood flooring. In most states here you only need to insulate hot water lines from a water heater. And in some places it’s only on exterior or interior walls and not both. It’s becoming more common here but it’s slow. I apologize but I don’t understand what you mean by heat distributors. Do you mean the zone control boxes in the center of the picture or the pumps? It is very common to have hard copper pipe in the boiler room go to a manifold. Then the manifold turns into flexible pipe to go into the flooring for in floor heating. Radiators typically have hard pipe all the way up to the radiators as well as the returning water.
Are you referring to the Eddy Malou the detailed explanation shirt and I will buy this water heater? I can’t tell based off this picture but the system can either have an independent water heater with its own pipes. Or it could have a large storage tank that has water heated by the boiler in a pipe system separate from the heating system. Or seeing as the boiler is hung on the wall it could also be a combi boiler system which has 2 heat exchangers inside the boiler that can work independently of each other, one for heating and one for hot potable water. The things you are referring to left of the expansion tank is a backflow preventer which is self explanatory based on the name. Typically they do have a pipe coming out of the bottom but occasionally you’ll see one without. Functionality is not affected. Next to that is the pressure reducer which brings the 60-80 psi system to 12-20 psi for the heating system. I apologize I am not sure what unit of measurement you use for pressure in Europe.
Thank you very much, First of all 7) we use bar=14,5psi (1bar~1 atmospheric pressure) most of the Eddy Malou the detailed explanation shirt and I will buy this time and Pa (Pascal, 1bar=100000Pa) in science and other cases which require more accuracy. Sorry btw for some Strange descriptions, I lack the knowledge of the correct technical terms in English 4. ‘Heat distributors’ were my attempt to name the construct Made of valves and pipe used to devide the pipe into the different loops and merge them back together maybe IT IS what you referred to as a manifold. Due to the fact that in Germany 2-3 floors above the cellar are normal for single-family Houses you would normally have 2 big pipes going through the almost complete hight of the building (one to get the hot water Up and one to get the cold water down) and for each floor you would have a ‘heat distributor’ attached to the 2 big pipes creating the loops for each floor
2) I excluded the Eddy Malou the detailed explanation shirt and I will buy this possibility that there was an addition to the building bc the system looks very new to me (as a whole) and in Germany if something was renovated or added the floor heating would be installed in Just a few single rooms and the mixing circuit would be close to the floor heated room instead of in the boiler room. The different types of floor being an obstacle kinda confuse me as far as i know all common floor materials are suitable. 35W per squaremeter (3.2W per sqarefoot, I hope that’s a used metric) is the rule of thumb to heat newly built houses (50W/m2 for a 20 years old house, 4.5W per squarefoot) you should be able to get that amount through hardwood. Can you help me with the title/Job I’d go by if I was an engineer for heating, cooling, Air conditioning, potable water hot and cold as well as sewage (basically everything a building needs to have to be usable excluding stuff an electrician does)
