People are so entitled these days I remember reserving a window seat on a layover flight, but I was late because of a delay from the first flight, so the guy in the middle seat moved to the window, and instead of moving back when I made it, he just stayed there because “you were late so I got dibs.” Honestly, it doesn’t really matter. I flew in a middle seat to and from Europe (my first time!) recently, and it was fine. Both times my neighbor asked me to switch…with someone in a different row. Nope. My carry on is nearby. I’m not moving rows. I would have swapped with someone next to me probably, but still, we all just need to get where we are going. Seat location matters little. You can visit with family during your trip! And that idea of a couple buying window and aisle in hopes of getting a whole row is annoying. Flights going anywhere good generally are full. I remember one time I was flying alone when I was 13 or 14 and I had a window seat. When I got to my aisle there was an older woman in my window seat and an older man in the aisle seat. As someone who had lots of social anxiety and a problem with confronting people I just bit the bullet and sat in the middle seat. Well turns out these 2 were actually a couple and I was sat smack down between the 2 of them. The whole flight they were passing stuff to each other over me, talking constantly as if I wasn’t there and just generally taking up a lot of space. I was super uncomfortable and upset as I couldn’t sleep during the flight because they both kept bumping me while moving around and talked lots. I still can’t figure out till this day why on earth they wouldn’t want to sit next to each other and ultimately stole my seat.
