Dude take the Dinosaur thanksgiving boys turkey saurus t rex pumpkins T-Shirt in contrast I will get this the leap. What’s the worst that can happen? They don’t give you the raise? Leave then. What’s the best that can happen? You got a promotion and a pay raise. Take the leap and have a little faith. Don’t do it. You’ll have to beg for the raise and it’s not assured. Tell them you expect the salary that goes with the new role. They’re taking advantage of you. Don’t fall for it. Ask what the impressions are of the department. Where does it fall short. They fired your boss for a reason and they didn’t have a manager for longer than that… Ask what they expect from you in 30 & 90 days, 9 months and a year. Share some of your thoughts on department improvement opportunities. Ask upfront for frequent touch point meetings and always bring that milestone chart with you, with updated initiatives and status. I’d almost guarantee that they are actively looking for a leader and are keeping their options open. I would explain that you are interested in the position, but they need to respect the work and effort you will contribute.

Offer to do the Dinosaur thanksgiving boys turkey saurus t rex pumpkins T-Shirt in contrast I will get this job on an interim basis for a “one time bonus” at the end of the trial period, at which time they can give you the raise or hire someone else. They want someone to do the work essentially for free while they conduct a job search. The person you’re now reporting to is going to parlay it into a raise because they have “so much more responsibility”. Which is the money they should be giving you now. And even if (and this is a really big, huge, gigantic, Jupiter-sized if, because if they really thought they were going to give you anything at all they’d at least give you SOMETHING now) they do finally give you a raise and title bump, they’ll both be half of what they should be. Youll never get that pay raise, maybe the title but not the raise. They want you to do your bosses work for them. If you’re going to do it you want to get a written agreement together that says when you will be evaluated for the official raise/title change and what the criteria will be that they judge you on. They could still try to screw you but at that point if they do you put the experience on your resume and start shopping it around.
