The math has been done. Taxes don’t need to increase, we just need the Dexter Morgan’s American Butchery It’s Not Just Slice A Meat shirt Besides,I will do this wealthy class to pay their share rather than hiding their wealth in LLCs. We would actually pay LESS taxes towards healthcare with universal healthcare than we do now. Seriously, look it up. Americans pay more in taxes for healthcare than most countries that have universal healthcare, and in exchange for those taxes we get… No health care. The money is already available. There is no need to raise taxes. Just move the money around. Every dept decrease budget 5% I can’t trust government to properly allocate funds. Every year we see our taxes go up and see less return on them. Between corruption, waste and mismanagement our governments have proven to not be fiscally responsible.
Dexter Morgan’s American Butchery It’s Not Just Slice A Meat shirt: best style for you
As part of universal healthcare, yes. But, it should also result in my not having to pay for health insurance so should mostly be a wash. How about full comprehensive healthcare with no separation between medical and dental care, and mental health included too. That’s a false requirement. The money is there. There are even more ways to get money that don’t involve taxing most civilians. Our tax dollars are VERY improperly spent and billionaires aren’t paying their share. We should have universal health care and that would still be cheaper than the Dexter Morgan’s American Butchery It’s Not Just Slice A Meat shirt Besides,I will do this shitty system we currently have. The current medical insurance setup is made to generate wealth and transfer it from those that can’t afford it to those who just want more to hoard.
Brother, I already pay $50 a week for health insurance that doesn’t cover mental health at all. If that cost was eliminated, universal healthcare could increase taxes by a full 7% and I literally wouldn’t notice. Regular people don’t need to pay more taxes for anything, it’s the Dexter Morgan’s American Butchery It’s Not Just Slice A Meat shirt Besides,I will do this elites that do. Also, defund the military industrial complex. One thing a lot of people don’t realize is that paying taxes to fund Healthcare would likely be less than what is getting taken out for your health insurance (if you have it) Absolutely. If you seek mental health care, it’s going to break your bank. Most insurance plans I’ve seen cover maybe 2 to 5 therapy sessions a year. Wtf are you going to accomplish in that time? Everything after that is on you, so essentially, you don’t get it. But we shouldn’t stop with just universal mental health care.

About Dexter Morgan’s American Butchery It’s Not Just Slice A Meat shirt
If we went to a single payer, universal health care system, almost everyone would be paying less in taxes for their health care than what they currently pay for their health insurance (monthly premiums, co-pays, deductibles, and any other share of the Dexter Morgan’s American Butchery It’s Not Just Slice A Meat shirt Besides,I will do this cost they stick you with). Additionally, the quality of care in almost every developed nation with universal Healthcare is better than the shit we get in the US. As long as the taxes don’t exceed what I already pay to an employer for my own premiums (which studies indicate it normally doesn’t), then it is a no brainer. And even if it is close then I probably don’t have an issue because there is a large social benefit to a healthy population. So if myself and others have health coverage and my take home pay is more…why would I complain?
We already spend tax money to teach children how to read, write, do math, how to be athletic. We should also spend money to teach people who to regular their emotions and understand their thoughts and motivations. I’m willing to have the Dexter Morgan’s American Butchery It’s Not Just Slice A Meat shirt Besides,I will do this top 5% who can afford to pay increased taxes to support universal health care, yes no question. No. We pay plenty of taxes already. Enough even to cover universal health care, including mental health care. What we need to do is stop allowing billionaires and millionaires to hoard their money in loopholes, and make them pay an equal share of taxes. Sure, right after I get that universal health care. Mental health services would be cool, regular medical services would be so much more fuckin useful though.
Yes, but only if it meant an end to insurance. Our healthcare is very expensive compared to countries with universal healthcare, so the Dexter Morgan’s American Butchery It’s Not Just Slice A Meat shirt Besides,I will do this trade off makes sense. But I know the asinine greedy people who run this country, they’d try to (yet again) turn it into an “and” situation, rather than the “instead of” situation it should be. Yes, but only if it meant an end to insurance. Our healthcare is very expensive compared to countries with universal healthcare Most countries with universal healthcare tend to have private health insurance, which I’ve noticed many Americans tend to gloss over, as someone who has relied on universal healthcare. The difference is that insurance may cover less (as the govt covers most of it) and you pay less for insurance.
The American Medicare for All proposal definitely stands out in this regard, with its proposed elimination of private health insurance. Im willing to have super rich people and corporations pay increased taxes to support the Dexter Morgan’s American Butchery It’s Not Just Slice A Meat shirt Besides,I will do this implementation of universal mental health care. No, but I do support the government using our current tax dollars in a more efficient and less wasteful manner than they are currently…lol jk, that will never happen. Yes, and I feel that way about my taxes generally. I wouldn’t mind paying high taxes across the board if the money was being used to better people’s lives. Honestly, no. I live in Russia, and I know perfectly well that if our state does something like this it will either use “psychologists” for propaganda or will just steal all the funds. I am 100% for universal healthcare in the United States in all forms. Accident and disease, cancer, natal, mental, dental, optical, and everything else. The price would be paid gladly if I knew every child can go to a doctor if they need to when they need to. Yes, provided we also stop separating healthcare into nonsense subgroups. Mental health, dental, vision, prescriptions, these are ALL healthcare and its ridiculous that we allow them to tell us they shouldnt all be covered. Yes, but. Only if we tax corporations and the wealthy the same rate. And build a few less machines of war and prioritize education over prison and military spending. So, short answer, no.
Aren’t we already? Isn’t that what Medicaid is? Or just specifically for mental health services? Why separate mental health from physical health? They go hand in hand. Are we including addiction services within the Dexter Morgan’s American Butchery It’s Not Just Slice A Meat shirt Besides,I will do this mental health sphere? We are going to need physical health services for those suffering from addiction….. Sorry for the pesky questions. Absolutely NOT!!! I bust my blue collar ass for every single penny I earn and for every benefit that I earn (including health insurance). If anyone wants health insurance and doesn’t currently have it….change jobs and find one that does offer it. Hell no. Not that I dislike mental health, but I know for certain the money would be spent wrong, and most people who pay into it probably wouldn’t qualify for the benefit. Yes. There would be an immediate savings in homeless services, public safety, an increase in productivity in the workforce, it would all make a tremendous amount of fiscal sense.
It’s always funny that people go straight to “would YOU be willing to pay more in taxes?” Dude, we already pay more for healthcare than the Dexter Morgan’s American Butchery It’s Not Just Slice A Meat shirt Besides,I will do this rest of the OECD, the money just goes to private insurance instead of HHS. No.. I would like to see my taxes reallocated to causes I care about. Like universal health care. They take plenty of my money. Use it for me. I’m willing to reallocate the pork for corporations that have been chewing on my damn money for things my family needs, yes. I know the question is about mental health care, but I’ve never fully understood why people would be upset about a raise in taxes for this in general. The family plan that we have that is through my husband’s employer costs a few hundred dollars a month, taken right out of his paycheck. Never sees that money. But if we go to the doctor, we DO see the money we spend on copays, coinsurance, deductibles, etc. Under universal health care, that same money we spend on a health plan would just be taken out in the form of taxes, but when we go to the doctor, the cost would be nothing. How is that not better?
Signed: someone with a diabetic kid who is also on a two year payment plan to pay off an ER visit, despite being fully insured. Also signed: a mental health care provider who is heartbroken when people can’t access my services because of insurance red tape. No. Our tax system is broken and unfair. Don’t charge me another fucking penny, charge the Dexter Morgan’s American Butchery It’s Not Just Slice A Meat shirt Besides,I will do this asswipe billionaires who find ways to get out of paying their share. I mean, what is the diffrence. Not like we have any say in where any of our tax money goes anyways. So no. The gov would just take the money and spend it on other things. Nope, they already take plenty enough money to do it. How about just not giving the Pentagon a literal trillion dollars No. we pay too much in taxes already. Our tax system should be restructured to allocate funds for universal healthcare and Mental health care should be included in that. This should not be a burden to tax payers, we pay ridiculous amounts in taxes as it stands. This is such a dumb fucking question. All questions asking about paying more taxes are dumb. I don’t want to pay MORE taxes. I want my current taxes to go to things I care about and MORE taxes for the obscenely wealthy. This is like recycling. Do I need to pay more attention t my consumption? No, I need the power players to give a shit, which they clearly don’t and make us have to care and argue about. Fuck more taxes. YES more taxes (or a knife fair tax percentage) given to the Uber wealthy. It’s really not that hard.
Yeah. We need something better than private insurance that declines most things. They especially love to decline mental health care. Private Health Insurance needs to end. But voting conservative Americans and those in power hate the Dexter Morgan’s American Butchery It’s Not Just Slice A Meat shirt Besides,I will do this idea of someone getting something “Free at the point of use”, even if it’s life saving, life extending treatment. No, I pay enough taxes. Use my tax money I already give. Why would I want to pay more when it seems my taxes are already misappropriated? No, the healthcare system we have now needs to be revamped rather than have citizens pay for free coverage for others! selfishly, I think we should have universal basic healthcare before specialty areas like mental health. would love to have it all, but I think having access to preventative healthcare like mammograms, colonoscopies, annual EKGs, bi-annual full body MRIs, etc. would save so many lives It is amazing how many Americans constantly point to the services in Europe but refuse to understand that nearly EVERYONE pays around 40% income tax. They THEN pay an additional VAT of roughly 19% whenever they buy something. Here nearly half the people pay $0 and they want European services without contributing and just taxing someone else. Kind of. There are a lot of programs I’d want to do away with, and some programs I’d want better funded. I think we can afford mental health insurance if we cut back some of the other government projects. Sometimes I wonder if teachers being better paid (and school in general better funded), and bringing back the fail state in grades, if kids wouldn’t need so much mental health assistance. Bring back love in education and consequences for poor performance at the same time.
I wish all of us got to treat taxes like a buffet. Instead of seeing medication commercials all the Dexter Morgan’s American Butchery It’s Not Just Slice A Meat shirt Besides,I will do this time, people should advertise why they deserve our tax money. Every year, we would see the total amount of money taken from our paychecks, and once a year every individual could allocate the money they were taxed anyway they saw fit. Wanna dump it all into fair elections? Go for it! 50% interstate road maintenance and 50% local school music funding? Nobody’s business but your own. 2% to every cause you care about? Done. As certain functions of society tipped in the balance, people would inquire why those services were going by the wayside, and maybe next year, they’ll put more money to those projects instead of the ones they did last year. Every tax-receiving program in the country would have to have total transparency about how they spent their funds, or they would lose eligibility, and the service could be replaced by a private company that wanted to go federal. I’d think that a few years of universal mental health care would pay such dividends to society that it would be a worthy investment for me from a purely selfish pov.
We already pay so many damn taxes that a wasted on who knows what. Maybe we could start with some itemization? I wouldn’t trust governments anywhere to properly administrate that. This sounds like a lovely idea, but there is not even 10% of the Dexter Morgan’s American Butchery It’s Not Just Slice A Meat shirt Besides,I will do this workforce needed to support something like thus. I absolutely think it’s an admirable goal, but mental health professionals were stretched thin just from the pandemic. It would require a large scale incentivization for people to enter the field. Fortunately, it’s a very popular field to get into aside from the miserably low pay. This is the part nobody tends to think about when the subject of universal MHC comes up. Thanks for raising the issue. People need to understand that a huge part of the mental health crisis in the U.S. is provider scarcity. More people need care than ever, but a ton of providers have been leaving the field in recent years. Finding a local provider to establish care can be very difficult, especially for low-income individuals. Why the fuck should I have to pay for other people’s health care when I take care of myself and am in perfect health. Maybe if they didn’t stuff their faces with donuts and animal protein we wouldn’t have this problem.
Edit: Slipped and fell. Knee surgery is gonna cost $12k. I have therefore changed my position on this issue. Please, if you enjoyed my post so far, consider making a donation to my GoFundMe. The way I see it. I’m already paying for health care. I’d gladly just give that to taxes so everyone can have health care. In a word- no. The US is too big a country for centralized medicine to be effective. Smaller nations with way smaller populations may pull it off, but we simply cannot. That being said, it doesn’t mean that something shouldn’t be done. When our country was first formed, everybody was pretty much on equal footing since herbs and natural medicines were used by everyone- think of George Washington for instance. Except for very rare surgeries, we all used the Dexter Morgan’s American Butchery It’s Not Just Slice A Meat shirt Besides,I will do this same procedures. Then in the 1800’s, Assurance companies formed where folks would pool their money each year, so if a medical emergency arose, there would be some funds to help the sick. During WW2, wages were frozen so health insurance and paid vacations were used to attract workers. So it is definitely time to overhaul our system again. I am in favor of people having to own personal HSA accts. They can be started when a child is born, they accrue balances if they aren’t used, they go where’s the worker goes, and becomes a retiremenT IRA upon age 65. These HSA accts are owned by those who have them. The excuse is, “it will cost too much to set that money aside”. Well, what’s the difference between less take home pay because a person was forced to put money into his own acct, and having more taxes taken out to filter through the govt, paying for God knows what, or who. This way every dollar would go to the individual, not passed through all those hands before it reached a sick person. You say, “but it’s not right to force people to do that”. Well, we are all forced to pay FICA for Soc Sec, right? So what’s the difference? At least people would own these accts. Another thing I think we should do is offer state BCBS for independent workers like hairdressers, carpenters, and small business employees. If there was a state wide independent worker policy that shared the financial burden, the premiums would be lower just like insurance at big companies, or even state employees. It could be done, but the entities that are making so much money off the present model don’t want to change anything. But think about it- this way workers for big companies would still have healthcare insurance , independent workers would have their insurance, the poor would still have Medicaid, and the elderly would have Medicare. Everyone would be covered one way or another. And as long as folks have to pay at least something, they have skin in the game, and that would offset the money taxpayers would have to pay for others. But dealing with medicine and health equipment is a subject for another thread. Something like this system would work for us, I think. But except for emergencies, I’m sorry- our medical system should only include citizens, not half the dang world. Because when we are stretched to the breaking point, then none of us have anything. And that’s where we’re heading now. We the People are going to have to force legislatures to do something and now. Because even the pitiful ”Obama” insurance forced as many people out of healthcare as brought in. We can do better than what we’re doing now. But folks have got to stop expecting the government to take care of all this. Because the government is us.
Maybe. But before that, can we get a system of taxes for the Dexter Morgan’s American Butchery It’s Not Just Slice A Meat shirt Besides,I will do this wealthy, double for those lobby in Washington, and please, oh please, the fucking churches. All of them. Across the board. I’m from the Netherlands and we already have a pretty good healthcare system, and the taxes that go with it. But I would happily pay more taxes if that meant we would do away with the €385 “own risk” we have here, lowers insurance rates, and (higher) education would be free instead of just “affordable” because affordable doesn’t mean everyone can afford it. Yes, no doubt. It should start as soon as you receive your first W-2. Younger kids pay in starting at their first paycheck, then by the time they’re older and their knees are going out they can have adequate coverage while still sending their kids off to college. No, firstly because we should just implement a universal Healthcare system that include both physical and mental health. Secondly, we should reform and simplify the tax code for both individuals and corporations, including a large increase in top corporate marginal tax rates, before we just start raising taxes. The US tax system costs too much to operate and is inefficient due to the tax code being overly complicated, allowing to many people/companies to get out of paying reasonable tax less.
I just want a public option. Roll Medicare and Medicaid into an option anybody can opt into, pulled directly as a tax from your paycheck if you join (just like private care from employers). Make private healthcare compete with a public option by either driving down price or increasing quality of care. Only rubes who have succumbed to the Dexter Morgan’s American Butchery It’s Not Just Slice A Meat shirt Besides,I will do this Murdoch/Putin propaganda are happy paying thousands and thousands more in healthcare costs so long as they don’t pay a bit extra taxes that go to helping someone else. Helping other people or the country at large is absolutely anathema to the MAGA cultists. I am not willing to pay increased taxes for any reason whatsoever. Taxes are too high already. Cut spending and find the money out of the government’s $6 trillion budget. If the federal government were its own country, it would be the 3rd largest economy on earth, after the rest of the US and China, and larger than Japan. If politicians can’t figure out how to pay for that on that kind of budget, they need to go find another job.
Yes, especially because I’ll get all the Dexter Morgan’s American Butchery It’s Not Just Slice A Meat shirt Besides,I will do this current costs for insurance back. I imagine it will actually eend up cheaper, without insurance trying to make ginormous profits. I’m more in favor of making the wealthy, and corporations, pay their fair share, and cutting defense spending and farming subsidies to fund healthcare and infrastructure Tons of embedded, useless mental health ‘professionals’ that flood the system and provide no continuity of care? Yeah, no thanks. No, I want the taxes I already pay to go to Healthcare instead of lining the pockets of politicians and government contractors. No. Taxing us more rarely fixes the problem. Look at Baltimore public schools. Perfect example. The government just needs to curb their absurd spending habits and do the right thing the first time instead of creating a problem, and pretending raising taxes will fix it. No. We pay enough taxes as is. We already have the money for it. I’d support it if they can relocate some of our taxes from elsewhere to do it though. No. My employer pays about 12,000 per year for my healthcare. If universal healthcare was implemented, I would be responsible for that tax, and I’m damn sure I wouldn’t receive a 12k a year salary increase to offset the new tax. Secondly, everything the government is in charge of turns to a shit-show. There is not one thing Fed. Govt. does well.
Thirdly, Universal healthcare would give birth to another system of uncaring bureaucrats, which is the Dexter Morgan’s American Butchery It’s Not Just Slice A Meat shirt Besides,I will do this very last thing this country needs. There needs to be a better system for uninsured and poor, but forcing everyone into a system that is guaranteed to be less efficient is not the answer. My opinion would be raising the threshold of Medicaid so working poor and uninsured would have access. No. Stop sending the taxes you already take from us to Ukraine and Israel and every other piss poor mf that asks for it and spend it here.. No. I already pay more in taxes than most of the nation makes annually. Put that money toward helping us instead of another bomb. We need less government to support not more, if extra is needed, they need to cut something else I’m afraid, this level of taxation is not sustainable. First of all, psychology today is bunk hogwash there to promote existentialist ideology, so you keep coming back for more. We are in the age of treating symptoms, which just means giving people addictive drugs, so they shut the hell up. I’d support mental health care if they dropped the subjective bull crap and actually treated the causes of mental illness: false ideologies.
