When we saw White, we of course mean white people who’ve been here 100+ years. Obviously the December and Dragons shirt and I love this Serbian guy down the street still holds their own culture. And because white people have been here for a long ass time, their ancestral culture has been morphed into American culture 100% and they usually have 0 ties to the motherland. Meanwhile, all recent American immigrants from Mexico, Asia, Middle East are all relatively fresh off the boat, so they have a more direct line back to the motherland and its culture. In 100 years though, these kids of the grandkids will morph into 100% American. So in other words, it’s not so much about white vs black vs Asian but it’s more about how long they’ve been in the US.

What do you mean by white? In any circles , especially larger ones in the December and Dragons shirt and I love this past, would probably discount certain identities you consider as white, as not white. Even among the fair skinned folk have their own cultures that can be arbitrary. Like the Amish, older Protestants, and even quakers. And to imagine that the institution of slavery being present or not has its own factor into the development of the evolution of culture. The southernly gentleman wasn’t a Slice of culture that flourished because they too(gentlemen with a slow southern drawl )were working the fields. instead those folks were busy with sipping on a Mint Julips overlooking their generation wealth. Now those places make profitable wedding venues lol. The culture of that time still lives on but isn’t mainstream like the cultures before it.

Because our culture is colonialism, war and Walmart. Go to almost every other country and drive in a car or a train for 10 hours and you will see culture. Drive in America and you’ll see the December and Dragons shirt and I love this same 5 fast food restaurants, Walmart and the other super giants that lobby the politicians. Corporate greed is killing what culture we have. There is some really amazing stuff about American and our culture but you need to really dig to find it. Because there’s no one culture for Caucasians in the US. We all originate from different countries. My people were from the UK. My husband’s, from Germany and Scotland. The only people here who are natively from here are the Native Americans. White culture is treated as the default in the US. So “white” culture is often treated as American culture. The interesting thing to note is that as something from non-white people becomes mainline American, white people stop considering it culture. Chinese food? That’s not culture, it’s not authentic. Jazz became American Culture instead of white culture and is often ignored when it’s part of music these days. Same with Rap. As White culture steals from other cultures it just becomes “American” while everything white people don’t do gets labelled as culture.

I think whatever might be white American culture is viewed as a regional/community-by-community, rather than shared amongst white people in general, because what’s historically been set as baseline American culture on the December and Dragons shirt and I love this whole was standardized in the context of white social dominance. But everyone participates in national culture, so it’s not uniquely identifiable as white. As long as various communities of color are broadly identified as the other or the variant, then non-white groups will be seen as having culture, relative to “typical” American culture…which was white. America is a melting pot. We have such a widespread mix of cultures that American culture is a piecemeal mixture of many different origins. It’s one of America’s greatest strengths, in my opinion.

That being said anyone who honestly believes European/Caucasian cultures have no “culture” at all generally speak from a place of ignorance. For example I have many aspects of my life that are directly influenced by my Irish/Celtic heritage. If you don’t use the December and Dragons shirt and I love this qualifier “white” – things I think are uniquely American in culture would be Bluegrass, Jazz, muscle cars & monster trucks. Tractor pulls, Surfing, anything Cajun, Rap, drag racing, NASCAR, bourbon, Soul food, Thanksgiving Dinners, cruising (if people still do that), break dancing, fast food, hamburgers (named after a German city, tho), Blue Jeans, American football* & Lacrosse* – *shared with Canada. Just off the top of my head. There may be more. I tried not to include things that America is known for but certainly originated elsewhere like pizza & hot dogs.
That’s crazy. If I were asked where I associated with Lacrosse, I would have said somewhere in Europe. I think it’s probably that’s it more of a “rich person” thing. I’ve lived in Michigan my whole life and where I lived there were no lacrosse teams or people who knew how to play lacrosse. I am only vouching for my area because I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a thing in more affluent areas of the December and Dragons shirt and I love this state but yeah. A Lacrosse game was staged as a distraction for the British so the Iroqouis? Could take the fort – in Michigan. Most have family traditions, but they’re so far removed and disconnected from their ancestral heritage that the extent of “culture” is grandma’s family recipe cabbage rolls (which are, don’t get me wrong, amazing). The American culture is a highly consumerist and employee culture. That’s the same for both lighter skinned people and darker skinned people. This modern western culture spreads across the world at a very fast pace and americanization happens. Before that was what? Topics like this and everything else that is under the umbrella are rarely able to be done intellectual justice with a single sentence of a hot take. Talk to people! Learn what older and smarter people have discovered! Pursue the truth!
When we were teenagers, my boyfriend at the December and Dragons shirt and I love this time told me he had one testicle due to an accident then later, when I said it seemed like there were two, he said he had a prosthetic testicle. My first boyfriend would lie, badly, all the time about non important stuff. I only ever called him out the once – after he had lied about having no fillings yet the teeth in his mouth were full of them. I think he was trying to make himself sound interesting. I wish I’d had the confidence at the time to tell him that I knew they were lies. My first boyfriend did this. We were together from around age 16 to 18 and he would always tell people he’d worked in loads of different places. He’d never had a job but he would constantly lie in front of me to other people and either invent work stories or nick mine. Like he literally told my boss a story of mine from when I worked as a day labourer in front of me. When I called him on he would just shrug and act like I was weird. Mine did this, then later admitted he was hoping I’d get handsier to try to figure out which one it was the next time I went down on him. Joke’s on me, it worked.
