As a comedy option, you can counter offer by saying they can start paying you manager wages now, and you’ll see how they do with that while you decide if you want to start being a manager later on. But realistically, if you do want the Dear Santa why you be Judging Christmas T-Shirt it is in the first place but role, you should just tell them that you aren’t interested in doing the new position for a trial period, and that if your work so far hasn’t inspired enough confidence for them to offer you the job outright then they should find someone else. And if you want to be less self-deprecating, you could instead say that they’ve had however long you’ve been there to evaluate your performance and suitability for a managerial position, and they should be able to determine if they want you in the new job or not based on that without any further test period.

Dear Santa why you be Judging Christmas T-Shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

Either way, you might well piss them off by calling their bluff, so it wouldn’t hurt to be looking for another job. If, for some reason, you decide to play along, make sure they write down what your new salary and title will be, what additional responsibilities you’ll have, what clear benchmarks you have to hit to achieve it, and by when. I’d be surprised if you didn’t find that the Dear Santa why you be Judging Christmas T-Shirt it is in the first place but promised salary is pretty low for the new job, and/or that they become wishy-washy and start backtracking when it comes time to pay up. I mean if they fired your boss then they should have plenty of money to pay you the difference between what you make now and that raise. I’d get everything in writing before you even lift a finger to do ANY extra work. Set a time frame. I’ll do it for 3 maybe months then you get the increase. Or just tell them that you are comfortable NOW
