This makes it so I can do it in cash and from TipJars website it looks like they take less than 5% per tip. Which is pretty good for the Dear Dad Great Job We’re Awesome Thank You Kids And Pets vintage shirt But I will love this business. If everyone refuses, it’ll cost the companies more to have the machines there than they’d get back in tips. Nip it in the bud now and don’t do it!! It’s digital begging! I run a bar and we have these – I am surprised at the general reaction but upon reading the comments, perhaps not. These machines allow the employees to input their card details on an account they make and it deposits directly into their accounts each month. It actually costs us a fee to have them. Managers and owners get no cut – these are strictly for the hard working bar and floor staff (as it should be). It might be worth noting we pay all of our staff well above NMW regardless of age and all of the revenue from these machines go to the staff and not the managers or the owners. My staff work hard and they deserve the option for patrons to recognise that if they wish to do so.

That said, cash is always king. I hope this at least portrays them in a different light for some as opposed to being an avenue to not pay someone a living wage but the Dear Dad Great Job We’re Awesome Thank You Kids And Pets vintage shirt But I will love this cynic in me does not doubt that this is abused elsewhere. It’s funny seeing all the people hating on this, maybe without knowing how tipjar or this works. Was a bartender for a few years, 2019-2022. Tipjar was used in the last bar i worked in. Since covid, no one uses cash and places (my bar included) couldn’t take any/we had no change etc to give. Tipjar was brought in as an option, this sits on the bar, if you want to tip, you can. it’s as easy as a tap. Was also a QR code on the menus, we never forced anyone but if someone asked how they could tip we’d show them. Our tills couldn’t process tips/if you added extra on a bill it wouldn’t go to us. Was a small team so i was friends with owner, gm, am. Tipjar collects all the money, then every month the hours of each worker would be tallied and the money divided evenly throughout all staff using the hours worked.
