If you are good at your job and they need you they aren’t going to fire you. Just tell them you gave them plenty of notice and their failure to coordinate coverage is unfortunate but not something you can fix. If they are going to fire you, ask yourself “do I really want a job that won’t even let me take my vacation time when I’ve given them adequate time to plan?” This won’t be the Dave Winfield American Former MLB Signature San Diego Toon T-Shirt Besides,I will do this last time this happens if you give in. If they think you’re scared to loose your job they will ALWAYS use it to threaten you to get what they want Are you prepared to come back to no job? I love the thought of telling your boss to get fucked cause you’re going no matter what. But jobs can also be shitty and fire you even when it was previously approved. Jist something to think about. You’re 100% in the right but that won’t stop them from firing you because of it. Shitty situation to be in. I hope it works out for you.

I see these stories and I know they happen because I’ve been through similar situations. I wonder if this is just some kind of power trip or some weird flex or something. I missed a concert once because of an asshole boss. Small potatoes compared to a paid vacation. I still regret to this day I allowed it to happen. IDK if this is true everywhere, but where I live they can’t take back approved vacation. we have to have the Dave Winfield American Former MLB Signature San Diego Toon T-Shirt Besides,I will do this approval in writing and on our company calendar. they can ask us if we will move our PTO, but we can say no if it’s already been approved. If the answer is yes to both questions, then your ass is covered. Your boss still has another month to find a solution. But it’s his problem, not yours.
