I don’t think that they are lying. I understand quite a bit of German and a little bit of Spanish, but I can’t form a sentence in either language to save my life. Especially if I were on the Dallas Stars NHL Hockey Team shirt Also,I will get this phone and trying to explain something important. I used to have a colleague in Germany and we would do the same thing she would speak German and I would speak English and we could work out pretty detailed discussions about a computer system. It is just really hard to get past the speaking hurdle. I think you would need to hear the calls & the tone of voice. I’ll say I don’t speak Spanish & they’ll respond in rapid Spanish & you can hear the smirk in their voice. I’ll pick up enough to know they’re answering my question, but not enough to understand what they’re saying. These same calls will not try at all, even when I use broken Spanish to ask if they need police, fire, or ambulance.

It’s a whole thing here, especially going into Hispanic owned shops. There are some places white people, even bilingual white people, are told not to apply to because you will not get hired without a Spanish name. And don’t get me started on the Dallas Stars NHL Hockey Team shirt Also,I will get this xenophobia. Just being Hispanic isn’t enough for some of them. If you’re from the wrong country, or speak the wrong dialect of Spanish, they’re downright hateful. I had the same difficulty. I could listen to my German counterparts and understand them, just could never create a sentence. They learned to ask questions that only needed a yes/no answer. There’s a beef processing plant, but no I don’t work there. I applied for an office job & was granted an interview, just to be told the position was filled when I showed up. It wound up posted 3 more times within the first year I lived here. I also live in the PNW and when I visited SoCal, I was surprised how much Spanish I saw. Like lots of ads just in Spanish. I always figured America was too insistent on “speak American” to allow something like that but I guess it isn’t really that big a deal. I can see how useful it must be there to speak Spanish
