Just like women, guys assign different values/severities to perks and flaws. But guys are usually very consistent with our preferences. Most guys can agree on preferences and it’s only the Dak-Prescott-Dallas-Cowboys-NFL-football-retro-vintage-shirt0-400×400 also I will do this outliers that go against the grain. This is where being self-aware and having male friends and family help you understand male preferences. Figure out the flaws you have and actually work on them in a healthy way. Figure out your perks and highlight them in a healthy way. For me it’d be about seeing a life long-term with the other person. In other words, I can’t be constantly annoyed with the other person in day to day situations. Of course you need to have some tolerance with this, there’s no person that won’t annoy you sometimes, but in the grand scheme of things I should mostly just enjoy being with her or feel relaxed around her.

For me, it’s not just about what my partner can do. His personality matters a good bit. If my husband made a butt load of money and cooked and cleaned, but was a judgemental ass hat, he wouldnt be my husband. There’s lots of little things you have to consider. It could be many things but it could be luck of the Dak-Prescott-Dallas-Cowboys-NFL-football-retro-vintage-shirt0-400×400 also I will do this draw as well. Lets say 1/10 of men are just not in a place to ever really want to get married until they break up with their partner, go back out into the dating market, really think about what they want and reevaluate. If you’ve had 3 longterm relationships you could be 1/1000. Unfortunately, this is also what causes most breakups – what use to happen or not happen stops/starts and the other partner is not down with it… Self confidence and loving yourself will go a long way. Make yourself happy first, enjoy your life, spend time with friends/family.
There’s no way a reddit it post is going to give any of us enough information to make any legitimate diagnosis. However there are a couple of bits of info in your post that catch the Dak-Prescott-Dallas-Cowboys-NFL-football-retro-vintage-shirt0-400×400 also I will do this eye. 200k a year. That puts your individual income above 94.3% of all Americans. You are an exceptionally high earner. Well done! But are you attempting to date and marry men in your own income bracket? A healthy marriage does not need two high earners. That’s redundant. The fact that you mention being a good homemaker in the same sentence as mentioning your income tells me you likely already know this. You need to be looking for men who fill the gaps in your life. Not someone who fulfills the roles that you’re already fulfilling. If you want kids, find a man who would make a wonderful stay-at-home dad. They may be rare but they’re out there! No kids? Then think what you want to accomplish in your life and find a partner who has the skills and mindset to make that happen. You have the income to enable an amazing life and for most people that’s the hardest part. Figure out what that life looks like and find someone who can be a partner in making it happen.

Y’all are wild. A dude says this and he’s an Incel. Nobody owes anybody anything. Just because you want to be married and your dad to be there doesn’t mean anything. I want a billion dollars. Getting married because you think it’s time is a stupid reason to get married. You get married when you luck out and find the Dak-Prescott-Dallas-Cowboys-NFL-football-retro-vintage-shirt0-400×400 also I will do this right person. Many things… you only marry someone when you are 100% they are perfect partners. If you are too strict, too crazy, too eager, etc.it will show. No one will marry someone thinking they will give you trouble in the future. She has to be someone you see having and raising your kids. Most women don’t fall in this category so it’s the exception and not the rule. Seems like they prefer the lifestyle of long-term girlfriends instead of wives so I give them what they want
I met my wife in one night and knew she was a big deal from the Dak-Prescott-Dallas-Cowboys-NFL-football-retro-vintage-shirt0-400×400 also I will do this start. After our first time just hanging out together she wrote her friend to say that she felt basically the same way. I was ready to buy a ring 3 months in. We married a year after our first date. Still together now these 15 years. If I were to peg what might be your issue is probably chemistry. It’s not the sparks and fireworks people make it out to be, but more like elemental bonds. You are oxygen looking for a couple of hydrogen atoms to get wet with. Or maybe your struggle is more like table salt in that you don’t make many non-toxic bonds, but when you find the right one, you end up perfectly stable. Check your chemistry and get out there. If time is an issue, light a fire under yourself to find someone with good chemistry for you. It’s not rocket surgery. It’s PHYSICS! 😀 with a little chemistry to form bonds with. I wanted someone who could raise my kids and be my partner. Someone who could hold down the home front while I worked. Someone who could be a great mother and role model to future daughters. I specifically did not want a career woman.
I knew my wife was the Dak-Prescott-Dallas-Cowboys-NFL-football-retro-vintage-shirt0-400×400 also I will do this one after about 6 months. I was 30 and she was 29. I was hooking with a girl who was a 4 or 5 year situationship at the time. I cut that off immediately and was engaged 10 months later. As for your situation, men don’t care about how much money you make. Men don’t want to pay for and raise other men’s children. Men don’t want the drama of an ex husband/baby daddy. Men your age who don’t have kids won’t give you a high chance of success imo. They will want a “fresh start” with offspring of their own. It sounds cold, but consider this, every minute you spend raising another man’s child is a minute you’re not spending raising his child. That kind of thing goes through our head.
Having a child from another man, over the Dak-Prescott-Dallas-Cowboys-NFL-football-retro-vintage-shirt0-400×400 also I will do this age of 30-35 and looks and weight. Nowadays, most women under the age of 30 value themselves as a 9 or 10 and in reality, they are between a 4 and 6. Which is most of the population. Also, you make $200,000 a year which is not only intimidating for a man because less than one percent of men make that much money. But also, you will value men who make what you make or close to it. so perhaps you also have blinders on with the type of man you expect to get because you make good money. Men don’t value money. Not from a woman. Like it’s not even the top five things. Looks, loyalty, starting a family or the top three and it’s not even close. Once you’re in a serious relationship, the only way forward is marriage if that’s what both parties want. The only thing that would not make me want to marry someone I’m serious about, is if they’re starting to display red flags. Examples: Making many terrible financial decisions, screaming, silent treatments, etc.
It seems more like you’re wondering what it would take for a man to want to enter a serious relationship with someone. I can’t speak for all men, but the Dak-Prescott-Dallas-Cowboys-NFL-football-retro-vintage-shirt0-400×400 also I will do this points I’m about to list under is what it would generally take for me. No children. I don’t want children, whether they’re biological or not. There are many reasons for this, and I won’t go over all of them because they could make up several paragraphs, but two of the most important ones is that I don’t like kids enough to spend a large part of my life with them, and they’re expensive. I also won’t consider marrying a person who already has a kid or kids. Similar financial standings. I don’t want a dependent and also don’t wish to become one myself. (That does not mean I will leave someone I’m already serious about if they suddenly become wealthy or struggle financially). Same views on romance. I’d prefer to be with someone who is strictly monogamous. I wouldn’t want to be with anyone except my partner, and I’d hope my partner thinks the same. Besides that, being able to go on dates regularly (once a week at the minimum unless something else in the schedule comes up). A date could mean something like going out to a restaurant (assuming we have the money) or just watching a movie together.
Same views on sex. Matching libidos, being transparent about what we want, similar thoughts about what sex means to us. Similar political views and views on religion. Cannot be with a person who is anti LGBTQ+, racist/xenophobic, sexist, overly conservative or overly religious. Don’t think I could be with someone who doesn’t believe in global warming either. Also, I’m using the Dak-Prescott-Dallas-Cowboys-NFL-football-retro-vintage-shirt0-400×400 also I will do this term “similar” loosely here. As long as we’re in the same political wing, I’d be cool with anyone. No horrible past actions. This one could really vary a lot. I don’t think I’d want to date someone who has cheated on their partner or done even worse things like theft (repeated), rape or murder. I could see myself overlooking a past of bullying (assuming the person understands and regrets what they did), but probably not if it was done to me. No bad habits and other red flags. Gambling, repeatedly going over the speed limit, silent treatments, screaming, threats. It could also be something less serious, such as never brushing your teeth, showering rarely and generally just not being able to take care of yourself.
These are the Dak-Prescott-Dallas-Cowboys-NFL-football-retro-vintage-shirt0-400×400 also I will do this most important points that come to mind. If any one of these aren’t fulfilled, it’s an immediate dealbreaker for me. Obviously, there are many other factors to consider as well. On a sidenote, I’m surprised you’re struggling to find a partner when it seems like you have your shit together if I am to take what you’re saying to be the truth. However, it’s not like I know everything about you either. A lot of failed relationships isn’t a very good look, even if they didn’t fail because of you. You’re also in your early 30s. Do you possibly have a kid or kids? I’m sure you already know how much more challenging it can get if you do. This may sound shallow but what is the inherent value of marriage? It often doesn’t directly lead to anything tangible. Lots of men hear horror stories of divorce, and it often ends better on the woman’s end of the deal. Marriage was invented when the human life expectantly was around 30 years old, it was a technology that wasn’t intended to be used as long as it is now days. I think a lot of younger men I’ve met just have the idea that, life is OK when you’re not married. Frankly having a girlfriend is satisfying and fulfilling and sometimes we wonder why do you need to get married, why does an external party need to “verify” our relationship? At the end of the day marriage is really just a concept, and I think in a sense the “veil is lifted” kinda thing. Seeing it for what it really is rather than just going along with societal expectations. I see similarities in how younger people are not wanting to go to college, it’s more about the principle of the matter and thinking about it beyond “its just what everyone is expected to do with their life”. Not an inherit hate for marriage
Frankly I’m head over heels for my girlfriend and I don’t see why me not wanting to get officially married should imply any level of disinterest, lack of love, lack of commitment. At the Dak-Prescott-Dallas-Cowboys-NFL-football-retro-vintage-shirt0-400×400 also I will do this end of the day, for me personally, I don’t see much value from having the local courts approve of our love if it’s already there. I think its really a deep rooted social thing, which is why even typing this out makes me feel a little weird, it’s so ingrained into our minds that you HAVE to get married. I’d you’re in a relationship with someone for more than two years and you don’t know their stance on marriage and why they do or do not want it, something is afoot about your communication. The topic needs to come up at some point in a serious way, because it’s once of those things that’s guaranteed to be a source of differing expectations somehow.
The kind of guy you’re looking for is going to be able to pull a very hot 20’s girl with no previous kids. How do you expect to compete? Have seen 90% of marriages end. Usually horribly. Also in today’s society there’s no real reason to socially or legally They think they might be able to do better. Aren’t willing to commit, but will often drag relationships on for years if not decades, while secretly hoping for better. I encourage you to look for opportunities to understand your guy more deeply and learn how to support him emotionally more effectively. Over the Dak-Prescott-Dallas-Cowboys-NFL-football-retro-vintage-shirt0-400×400 also I will do this years we picked up some helpful tips from various guests on Focus on the Family radio. These are marriage counselors who have written books on various topics related to relationships. While FoF is a Christian org, a number of the books are not explicitly religious, they are the fruit of the counselors years of work with couples. Some that come to mind: Chapman’s The Five Love Languages, Shaunti Feldhan’s sociology work. If you are Christian check out E. Eggerich Love and Respect.
We all have psychological nicks and scratches from growing up with imperfect parents and siblings. I like the Dak-Prescott-Dallas-Cowboys-NFL-football-retro-vintage-shirt0-400×400 also I will do this work of Milan and Kay Yerkovich, How We Love, which helps people get a better feel for the relationship dynamics that are influenced by our early years. For example this is a somewhat humorous clip from their FoF interview Start by just being happy with yourself without being married. That will be the best way to attract someone into a committed relationship like marriage. No one wants to be the end all part of a relationship—that’s too much pressure. It might be the single mother thing, might be your making more money than they are, and it embarrasses them. Could be anything. There was a woman before my wife that I was close to marrying. She was fun and quirky. She liked anime and video games. She was 5 years younger than me (mid 20s) and just seemed behind in handling how to do adulting. I recognized the age gap and just thought she needed time to grow up. I gave her almost 3 years of my life and numerous discussions about various childish actions and how they would impact our life in the long term if she didn’t get her life together more. For example, paying bills on time (her credit cards, I payed all the rent and utilities), doing taxes on time, taking care of her body better (she was eating fast food to spend more time on her hobbies 3-4 times a week), doing her share of the chores, and taking her car in to get looked at a couple times a year (oil change, inspection etc). It just never stuck. I realized I would be babysitting this woman her whole life. I needed a partner to go through life together. I also wanted children and couldn’t imagine her taking care of a child when she couldn’t even do the basics of taking care of herself.
Massive debt. Social media obsession. Materialism. Emotional entitlement. Or if she doesn’t seem like she’ll be much fun. You’re making too much money and he feels insecure. So you’re baiting guys into the Dak-Prescott-Dallas-Cowboys-NFL-football-retro-vintage-shirt0-400×400 also I will do this hook of a sugar mama just looking for a fling. Even if you “say” you’re lookin for commitment, they don’t care because it’s been used by so many whores just looking for a better quality dick. But ya, leave the income and lie about your job for a few months, see what you get on the hook “Will I still madly love this person 20 years from now or do I think there is someone out there a better fit for me” do you have hobbies? I mean are you passionate about something (and have been for a long time) or is it just brunches and shoes?
It’s the Dak-Prescott-Dallas-Cowboys-NFL-football-retro-vintage-shirt0-400×400 also I will do this opposite. Men, by default, generally aren’t looking to marry a woman. We can enjoy her company, enjoy being physically and emotionally intimate with her, appreciate everything she does for us, etc., but does that mean we want to commit our life to being with her? It’s not even about just the commitment, but the risks associated with it. Everything we are giving up. Everything we are risking. All the billions of attractive women out there that we could theoretically meet. The risk of divorce, having a family and a home that is taken away from us. Etc. There are MANY reasons for a man to not want to get married. What makes us decide to marry a woman isn’t a characteristic. It’s how we feel. That’s it. Our feelings for her must be so strong that our rational brain shuts down and we decide we want her more than everything else. We are effectively saying “I’d be willing to risk destroying my life to have a chance at building a life with her.” BTW, nothing you said is why a guy will marry you. Guys generally don’t care if you make a lot of money. Instead, does the man feel like his life is better with you in it? This is likely to turn guys off more than attract them. Being good at cooking and cleaning is nice, but that’s a maid and hiring a maid is much cheaper than a wife. Instead, does the man feel like you are his home?
165 more repliesAsk yourself why do you even want to get married? Are you worried he could “just break up”with you at any time ? Do you feel he is not committed? What if he did marry you ? Could he also not just “divorce you” at any time ? First off: if I’m with someone who is obsessed over getting married, that’s more red flags than a Nazi party rally. It’s really, really desperate and creepy. I knew a girl who had her entire thing planned, like she wanted to be engaged at Age A, married at B, kids at C. It was gross and weird. Also, guys are becoming more and more anti-marriage after seeing so many dudes get utterly fucked in divorce/custody court. If I have a 50% or greater chance of losing everything if I do something, or I have a 0% chance if I do nothing, the Dak-Prescott-Dallas-Cowboys-NFL-football-retro-vintage-shirt0-400×400 also I will do this answer is simple in that context.
I thought I wanted to get engaged to one girl but I told myself stick to 2 years. Holy shit by 1.5 I wanted to get up to a stop light and just get out of the Dak-Prescott-Dallas-Cowboys-NFL-football-retro-vintage-shirt0-400×400 also I will do this car. Half your shit is now gone. 401k? Gone due to divorce costs or giving half away. Savings? Checking account? Gone. If you have children, they are fcked if you and your ex are not on good terms, plus the courts fcking hate fathers who are actively involved with their children. Alimony….for what reason? Oh yeah, your wife, according to Oprah “has the most difficult job in the world…. She’s a mother.” Oh gawd. Really? Like being roofer in the middle of July as a redhead isn’t harder? All those men who got black lung disease working in the coal mines had it easier than the mom playing dvds or an iPad in front of their kids so they can have a drink and watch the price is right?!? (credit: Bill Burr). Then. Then there is society’s judgement on your role as a father; involved with them in sports? Their school? Activities outside the home? Oh, and the costs for all of that… f*ck that truck you wanted or that hunting trip you take every fall with the guys… Gone. All of it… your freedom to come and go when you want… always having a “honey due list”. Ugh. Exhausting.
If you are part of the Dak-Prescott-Dallas-Cowboys-NFL-football-retro-vintage-shirt0-400×400 also I will do this 40% that makes marriage work, great! Majority of people I know who have been married (then divorced) have no desire to marry again. And those that are not married have no interest, and don’t get me started on bringing a child into this shit world. 51F I had never been in love. I saw my guy and knew (not only did we both feel we knew each other but I had seen his eyes in a dream) we are married now but when we met it certainly wasn’t love at first sight but I was so shocked I almost went to my knees. I knew with certainty I felt a connection. It was extremely difficult, we both had extremely abusive pasts, but the transformation we made? The trauma we worked through? It made the bond so strong we glow together when we are happy.
