Not sure what the Custom western Kentucky hilltoppers peace love shirt besides I will buy this hell is going on with the car market lately but there really does seem to be insane backlogs for vehicles and parts. I’m planning to keep my dogshit ass horrible first car for the next 5 years due to prices. People got a lot of money it seems. I bought my first car about a year and a half ago (got my license a decade ago!), and it’s about 13-14 years old. My family tried to convince me to take a loan out to get a slightly newer model at the time but I’m glad I held firm and bought what I could afford for cash (under £4k). My family are not models for financial responsibility either! My sibling bought a £30+k car in the last year or two and keeps saying how I should get finance for my “next car” Everything I’ve read on here says it’s a bad idea! The mileage on mine is still under 90,000 so hopefully it’s still got a lot of life in it (and I’d hope so after all the repairs I’ve had to get fixed). Who actually has all this money? Hotels, food, cars, houses, I am about to get a mcdonalds breakfast and its going to be about 40% more than it was a few years ago. where is all the extra money coming from?
Custom western Kentucky hilltoppers peace love shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater, long sleeve tee
Doesn’t that sound doable now? In fact, when you consider that if you buy this BMW, you will magically spend your life driving deserted coastal roads like the Custom western Kentucky hilltoppers peace love shirt besides I will buy this rugged pioneer you really are, it’s actually a bit of a bargain Lol. Yeah it is more relaxing to think everyone is getting into debt and you aren’t just a pauper but it’s just baffling to me that things are double what they were 5 years ago. I don’t see how the economics works. At a total guess it’s twice the rate of inflation. And it isn’t even that easy to get large sums on loan these days as far as I can tell. The people with a lot of money are generally not buying new cars every few years. They’re usually the sensible ones with money. Whereas majority of people enjoy spending what they don’t have. Also the scrappage scheme killed off all the cars that would’ve been cheap second hand cars, put those owners in new cars and now what should’ve been a £500 banger from the 00s is a £5k car from the 10s.
Although you might not be in the Custom western Kentucky hilltoppers peace love shirt besides I will buy this market for a £500 car the person who is has no option but to buy the cars you want. I think they went up exponentially in 2022 ish, i was told something to do with electronic components for new cars. I bought a VW up from cinch just before the massive hikes, prices went up so much that a few months later they were offering me about the same money back in trade in for the same car. I did track prices for a while after out of interest and equivalent cars were going for 1500-2000 more. This is all me having a reckon, and based on my memory, so if i have it all wrong then don’t bite. This is fundamental principle underlying the current pricing. The other economic issues at hand are the level of pricing elasticity in the market and inflationary pressure. With an effective shortage in the market, the amount people are willing to pay stretches beyond their usual appetite. i.e. in a normal market, someone may be willing to pay 10% more than their perceived standard value. In a more competitive market, that can stretch to maybe 100% more. Perceived standard value for a buyer almost always lags behind actual value because humans aren’t great at rationalistic thinking. People who are more desperate than you for a car will be willing to pay more.

In addition to that, sellers are less likely to value their product at the Custom western Kentucky hilltoppers peace love shirt besides I will buy this same perceived standard value. They’re looking at a forward value, i.e. what they are going to do with the proceeds of a sale. Buy a new car? Contribute to the deposit on a house? Pay down an accrued debt? All of these have increased in value faster over the recent years. Is there any chance manufacturers are restricting supply to push up prices? I have no real evidence for it, but it sometimes feels like people are increasingly realising that supplying less for more still results in similar profits, but with a lot less hassle and overheads. Sort of. The pandemic caused a chip shortage and car manufacturers decided to use their limited supplies in their most expensive/profitable cars. They found in conditions where supplies are constrained, it was much more profitable simply not to make the budget-range cars. So in one sense, they have restricted the supply by only making higher priced cars. China has lots of excess capacity in it’s car industry and has started exporting cheap cars, but most places have high import tariffs on cars, so that’s kept prices higher.
In the Custom western Kentucky hilltoppers peace love shirt besides I will buy this end I bought a nearly new electric car using a bank loan (not lease or dealer finance). The monthlies were much much higher but the fuel was a fraction of what my petrol was, and the car is still under warranty for another 5 years. It worked out only slightly more than a petrol alternative, all-in. The depreciation on electric cars is atrocious, they are selling some at 50% of the original RRP that are one year old with less than 10k miles on. You are making the assumption they sold at RRP, they didn’t. Fleets/leasing companies buy the majority of cars and never pay RRP People will need to bear in mind that £7,800 of that loss is VAT as new cars are VAT qualifying and used cars are not but even if you exclude that a loss of over £10k in a year is ridiculous.
Where are you looking at cars? I just pulled up autotrader and there’s page after page of Ford Focuses for under £1000. My dude, my post includes a link to a £500 ford focus. There are dozens like it on autotrader. They’re under £500 NOW. The comment you’re replying under is £500 lol. They’ve gone up because fewer people can afford the Custom western Kentucky hilltoppers peace love shirt besides I will buy this big bucks, it’s not a huge surprise I just sold a 2004 Ford focus on 60k miles. Checked around a few sites to see what it was worth and it was about a grand give or take for a silver, 1.4 petrol, manual around that milage Right now? They have been crazy since 2020 and the chip shortages meaning older cars were much in demand. If it’s 3k in a private sale then offer what you think it’s worth (or whack the reg, if you know it, in WBAC to get an idea what they might get and use that as a guide for an offer). Check MOT history too for any warnings that can be negotiated down I had a Fiat Panda I bought in 2021 for £2.5k, about 45k miles. Some dumbfuck T-boned me at a junction last September, driver’s side door completely stowed in. Insurance wrote it off, it had 67k miles on it and they gave me £4.5k for it. Profit indeed. Half the issue is supply and demand, other half is some people being happy to pay 2% pension contribution and then spend £500 a month on a car. Edit: point proved, people out here advocating buying that £500 a month Corsa with a sound retirement plan of basically dying at 59.
2% is many people see they aren’t going to retire so why bother putting into pension which you aren’t going to be able to use to full extent before you die at your desk while your boss berates you for slacking. I mean, if you don’t put anything in a pension, retiring is going to be pretty difficult so that’s a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy isn’t it? Not entirely because government decisions about the Custom western Kentucky hilltoppers peace love shirt besides I will buy this state retirement age heavily influence the viability of a retirement topped up through personal pension savings. And annoyingly the government can also change the age you are allowed to access your private pension, which has never seemed right to me. The friends that made it are then split between health issues such as alzhiemers and dementia, and survivors of previous health issues such as heart attacks and cancer. Only my mum has made retirement without any of the above. When you see stuff like this happening around you, you can understand why people would want to enjoy themselves while they can. Well, if they’re pinning their hopes for joy and fulfillment on a brand new Corsa that costs a year’s wages, I wish them the very best of luck I just feel that people shouldn’t pretend that they “can’t” ever retire. For some it’s actually a choice to not actively save so that they can retire & to instead spend it on a new car or holiday.
For some there isn’t enough spare cash for either option, those are the Custom western Kentucky hilltoppers peace love shirt besides I will buy this people without the choice. Not those saying “woe is me I can’t retire” whilst spending it all instead. If you see enough people die in their 50s after working all the time, earning well and pouring their money into savings “for retirement ” it becomes clear you have to live your life and do what you want while you’re healthy enough to afford travel insurance. For me that doesn’t include a fancy car, but for others I guess it would I would imagine that at 2% pension contributions they probably would be right in thinking that they won’t be able to retire until very late. Kind of obvious right? Put less in your pension and you’ll have a smaller pot. I’m putting 18% into my pension and I’m expecting to be able to retire before state pension age. No idea what state pension age will be by the time I’m in my 60s so I’m making sacrifices now to sort my self out by then.
I know it’s crazy. My friend who is a Car mechanic reckons secondhand cars have held their price over the Custom western Kentucky hilltoppers peace love shirt besides I will buy this the last 3 years and are only just starting to come down now. He said this when I looked at how much my secondhand £10K Skoda Yeti I bought three years ago was now worth. Turns out circa £9,800! All due to the drought of new cars in the last few years due to the microprocessor shortage which inflated used car prices. It’s depressing. Ten years ago I bought a very good ten year old car that had ~40k miles on it for £3k. Now £3k only buys you a twenty year car with ~100k on it. Part prices are off the charts aswell one of my cars needs discs & pads can’t get anything decent for under £200 the main dealer wants over £200 just for the discs
2012 Hyundai i10 with 70k miles for just under £4000nothing else around me to beat it at the Custom western Kentucky hilltoppers peace love shirt besides I will buy this time it was mental. Don’t think I’ll live in an age of low costs or higher wages When I bought my current car 10 years ago it was 7 years old (2007 Astra 1.6) and had 60k miles. That cost me around £3k. Now the cheapest 7 year old car, that isn’t crap, that I can find within 60 miles of me is at least £4k & they all have a minimum of 90k+ miles. If I want at least a 1.6L engine or higher the prices start at £5k lol. I’m going to just keep pumping money into my current car as that works out much cheaper, plus my insurance is still only around £180-£200 per year. It’s a 62 plate Corsa with 30,000K on the clock. Turns out I could sell it for about £4.5K, I only paid £5k for it in 2018. Mad. Same with secondhand cameras. It’s insane that something I bought in 2012 for £100 is still worth the same money. Ancient cameras seem to be going up in price There is a lot more demand for older cars now as they have been built a lot better the past 15years and so are much more reliable. A 15years old car when I started driving in the 90’s was full of rust and at the end of its life and full of mechanical issues. Now a 15yo car will start and not be showing signs of age because of the improvements made in the manufacturing/ paint and much better tolerances in the mechanics As someone who sold their car last week, I’m a big fan of second hand car prices at the moment! Managed to get £1k more than I was expecting, regardless of a cracked bumper and more dents than I could count.
I totalled my Ford Fusion 2010 in May 2022. It already had a massive dent in the Custom western Kentucky hilltoppers peace love shirt besides I will buy this back which I was quoted around £1000 to fix and now was caved in at the front completely where I crashed into a tree. Colour me surprised when my insurance paid out £3100 for the car. It had cost me £3900 when I bought it in 2018 and only had 30,000 on the clock then. Had close to 80,000 at the end. I heard the demand for old cars is really high at the moment, cheaper repairs maybe? More reliable? I don’t know but I know I still miss that car, best I had 🙁 Yep. I bought a second-hand car last week and looking round the garages I saw an S-plate Mondeo for £3,500. That’s a 25 year old shit box. Ten year old hatchbacks were £6-8k. The only thing under £2k was a Kia with a list of MOT warnings as long as your arm. It’s crazy. I don’t understand how some people are trying to defend the car market with the whole “there are loads of cheap cars on auto trader” lol yes you can get some cars for around a grand on auto trader but they are complete and utter shit bucket liabilities or in some obscure corner of the country. Before 2020 for £500 you could get something that wasn’t mint but also wouldn’t fall apart in the first 3 months
I had to buy a car with a 2k budget 6 months ago and even at that price it’s hard not to find a complete liability of a car “Here we have this lovely 06 civic with rust on the Custom western Kentucky hilltoppers peace love shirt besides I will buy this entire body, has essence shit on the seats and a complimentary damp smell… That will be 1800 please” << literally a car I looked at Well, I bet there will be a shitload of double cab pickups coming on the market soon – all those muppets who got Ford Rangers or VW Amarok's to try and dodge company car tax are about to be smashed in the bollocks with huge BIK costs in their payslip. Shame, the govt have rolled it back.Second hand car market is booming atm. A mix of newer car manufactures producing more electric cars and people preferring older models. Would love to own a 2006 subaru impreza (or similar) but they’re around 20-24k. Couple years ago they were 15-18k. You can get some nice Japanese imports around the 15k range with decent mileage. The japanese economy is worse than ours, so our money goes a bit further atm. I've got an '05 Octavia that I'm about to scrap due to various age, servicing and neglect related issues, I'd not feel comfortable selling it for the ~£1k that equivalent cars seem to be selling for on FB/Gumtree but that's just where the bottom end of the market is.
My old car would need £1.5k minimum spending on it – 4x tyres, overdue a service, time/mileage is up on the Custom western Kentucky hilltoppers peace love shirt besides I will buy this cambelt and after 235k miles the original clutch is only just hanging on. Dampers and bushes are all tired and the ride is crap. And I can’t be arsed to deal with selling it either, regardless of it being a private sale of a certified shitbox too many people expect it to function with no issues. Part exchanged my old car recently that I bought in 2018 and it was put on auto trader for the same price that I bought it 6 years ago. It had 90k miles on it and a ton of scratches with it being my first car. It was falling apart and definitely not worth the £4.5k they were asking for it. Because there’s none of them left and people are starting to pay stupid money for them. Just like every old Ford before it, look at the escort, the proper puma, the sierra etc, all were cars people used to pay 50 quid for. Nowadays even base spec makes top prices. Found this out recently. My last car (9 years old at time of purchase) cost me £2000 six years ago. My new (secondhand car) (8 years old) cost me £8000. Insurance also doubled. On the plus side the tax is way less.
Canadian here, I bought a 2007 Toyota Tundra in 2020 for $14,000 cdn with nearly 300k kms on it in Vancouver, and sold it a year ago there for $15,000. I thought I’d never see the Custom western Kentucky hilltoppers peace love shirt besides I will buy this day when used vehicles became a medium-term investment. It’s not that’s why it’s not sold. Have you not even looked for cars, five second search on auto trader has loads of cars under 1k including a ford focus from 2003 with similar mileage for £900 As soon as you look up the mot history you see why. I’ve been driving bangers for 30 years it’s never been like this. Like, even when I passed my test 7 years ago cars were £500-1k and they had issues and paying a premium with nothing wrong with them… like ????? Idk what you expected.
Yeah. I was thinking about replacing my car at the Custom western Kentucky hilltoppers peace love shirt besides I will buy this start of 2020. Suddenly going to a dealer became a crime. I still have that noughties heap. So I suppose I should thank the rona for deferring four years of car payments as it’s somehow lasted until now. Same, my car was written off and I got a “measly” £3200 settlement. Got nearly £4k now but nothing is taking my fancy at these prices. That’s kind of how it works!! Everything gets really expensive…. so everyone stops spending money… so we go into recession :/ I’d jump at someone willing to pay £2k let alone £3k for my 63 plate focus with 93,000 miles and a few dents and scratches I got my car in 2018 (originally finanace but paid off early for ownership) and a look just now on autotrader for the model/year in similar current condition indicates it’s only lost 15% value. My insurance went up a lot last year, I called to try and negotiate it down and they said it is because my 2006 Golf is now worth an extra 30% on it’s value last year. What’s worse is if you try sell your car as part exchange they try to rinse you… Then are selling the same car you have for way higher Supply and demand. Ever since Covid hit and caused a semi-conductor shortage globally people have been keeping their cars for longer. This massively increased the prices for second hand cars. Then we had the high inflation crisis which pushed up the price of new cars. My wife bought a brand new car 2yrs ago and that same car today would cost £10k more than she paid then.
I agree. I saw an early 2000s mondeo around a garage near work for 3k. I was kind of tempted to stop and ask if they had added an extra zero by accident Funny thing is, from what I note anyway, part ex prices don’t seem to quite as generous. I have a car that’s worth about 3.5k trade in according to research but said car would sell for 7 on a forecourt. I bought my Ford Fusion 06 plate 9 years ago for £3500. I traded it in for £1600, and it sold for £3500. Bonkers. If you don’t do crazy miles it’s just easier to lease it finance something new. Lots of 100-200 a month deals around. The only reason is that new cars specially 21, 22, all the Custom western Kentucky hilltoppers peace love shirt besides I will buy this way to 73 plate have issues beyond any other years due to extra electrical features Even “cheap” car quality is now so good its not worth replacing in the short term. We’ve reached saturation in the market where even fair to middling priced cars don’t fail like they used too. Contrast that with new taxes against new cars, lack of discretionary spending due to the economy, and punishing low emission zone. If its bought and paid for, why replace it? It works, its cheap to hold, its avoiding cost if you don’t drive it much. Borrowing money is very expensive.
Culturally, cars more and mote are also not seen as a status symbol any more. Not needing one at all, is. Now the Custom western Kentucky hilltoppers peace love shirt besides I will buy this environment is in vogue, buting second hand is good for the environment. Buying new is not. Electric or otherwise. Stay away from any diesel focus from around those years. Awful injectors and will be on limp home mode more times than not. Cannot stress that enough. My first car was a ’96 Fiesta in about 2007, and at just over 10 years old it cost me £500. £3k for a near 25 year old car is just ridiculous. It’s not like Focuses are a classic car or not extremely common. I got stung, though, needed a 2nd car in ’22 .. £2k for a Rusty ’06 Honda Jazz… Ugh. That’s not still worth £2k.
This is why I’m thinking about getting a motorcycle licence. The price of a brand new Royal Enfield meteor 350 is £3700 and does 100mpg. However when you factor in the Custom western Kentucky hilltoppers peace love shirt besides I will buy this cost of gear and other stuff, that will definitely increase costs As a dealer you will always be in a better position if you sell privately, that is if you’re willing to take the hassle that comes with it. If you PX your car it will most likely go auction were another dealer will purchase it to sell, it is then down to that dealership on what they charge to cover their overheads. With ours we need to sell a car for £1,000 over what we bought it for to break even, this includes what it costs us to put a 12 month warranty on the car, safety inspection, service and MOT it then to also advertise it as each car costs us £4 per day on Auto trader alone, if the safety inspection returns with any work needed this will then be done and potentially ends up making a loss.
