OP mentioned that the school was going to include it in their guidelines implying that this was not in there before. If that’s the case, and I am not a lawyer here, she might have a better around the apology letter request. Absence the written policy, I do not see where the school has authority to require an apology. Conversely, the school could offer their own apology and let the parents know about the new entry in the handbook.

If I were in school I’d come up w/a new identity every week. One week I’d be TomHanks (one word, first name) and the next I’d be Godzilla. Why does she do that, “she/her?” Does she think anyone cares. Isn’t it obvious that she is a woman by looking at her? If she signs a check or document, does she do that? This world is becoming more stupid by the minute. Your wife should simply offer her resignation and find a job amongst like-minded people and state that she does not feel this place is a good fit for her progressive views. Apparently there is someone in your community who believes that being inclusive isn’t acceptable. It seems to me that the principal over reacted to a singular criticism. Explaining to the one who took issue is appropriate and changing the rules to accommodate that person is unreasonable. It has never been commonplace to sign your letter with she/her. It’s Ms or Mrs if you intend to let people know you are a woman, and it is enough to clear the confusion when you refer to yourself with your surname rather than by your first name. It does not give an employer or a client a good impression of you, it only makes them suspect you are woke. If you care to be professional, this is not something you do, regardless of your personal beliefs. It’s a conservative school, an affluent one, with conservative policies for kids with conservative parents who care what environment their children are taught in since they spend several grands on their education. Pronouns are bullshit and the only people who use them do so to disassociate themselves with the rest of society as they are too fragile mentally and need to be coddled. Inclusion is all fine and well but when you need to preface yourself from your biology there is a serious breakdown from the person who thinks they need to use pronouns and the people who aquiesse to their usage. Pronouns do more to divide people than include them as that is why they use them in the first place.
