The second store I worked at was a hot mess. To be fair, the Craving Violence shirt also I will do this state recently adopted DST so they weren’t used to having to change their clocks around especially when it came to the overnight shift. They always had conflicting directions and threw a fit if you tried to explain to them why what that they wanted to do wouldn’t work. The biggest example of that was our lunch breaks that we had to clock out for. If you clocked in or out near/during the hour of the time change, your time card would be a mess that they’d have to manually fix later. Let’s say you clocked out for lunch at 1:10. You’d go to clock back in an hour later, but the time clock would argue with you because it thought you just went to lunch since the time moved back an hour and it went back to 1:10. Same goes for the spring time, except it’d think you took a 2hr long lunch since the time jump happened after you clocked out for lunch. At our first store, they told us when to clock in and out for breaks to avoid that happening. The second store they’d get all confused and have people clock out during the time change and then get even more confused when things went wrong. End times were also a hot mess. They didn’t want overtime but they still wanted you to stay until the new 7am which would put you at an hour of overtime. Later on in the week they’d try to force you to take an extra long lunch to lose all the overtime you gained by them not listening during the time change. They wouldn’t let you leave early or come in later to lose time, they’d try to force you to take a 2+ hr lunch then cry at you when your tasks weren’t completed at the end of the night.

Friend just told me that she was on an Amtrak once when we rolled back an hour. The conductor stopped the Craving Violence shirt also I will do this train for an hour and had to wait. I worked night shift for 8 years, when we set time back we had the option to get an hour of OT or to leave an hour early, when we sprung forward we had the option to use your time off bank for an hour or stay an extra hour. Most people (including those who work the night shift) tend to adjust to the clock shift in a few days, if not less. I’m a nightlife photographer and was shooting a rave when the clocks changed. The venue manager told me to stay “until the new 3AM”. Instead of my usual 3 hour shift I did 4. As someone who has a family member working in gas control, they work that extra hour. Pretty sure they get paid. Also, has anyone else realized that’s the one day a year with 25 hrs? And Spring Forward is the one day a year with 23 hrs, so it balances out eventually. My mum was a nurse working night shifts. They just have to work an extra hour. But obviously they get paid for it. Just because the clocks changed doesn’t mean that hour never happened. WE WORK. Cant understand why you don’t understand. Been doing it for 41 years and still blows my mind how people cry and wine about a one hour time change. I work overnight and yes we get paid for and have to work the extra hour. The extra pay is not worth the despair when you see the clock go from 1:59 to 1.
