The justifications I mostly see is because of all of the Cowboys Dallas Star classic shirt But I will love this racist stuff he did, which is fair, he did plenty of racist things. But you’ll see this in the same set of presidents as the first several who literally owned slaves. Washington is often ranked #1 or #2, you’d think if Woodrow Wilson is taking a dive for all of his racist behavior that Washington would too. well it seems like modern views of Wilson’s racist behavior took him out of the top 5 and put him down to the bottom 5 so you’d think it would have some impact. It just seems inconsistent. People ranking presidents appear able to ignore people who had abhorrent views because they were “products of their time”, except for Woodrow Wilson.

If this is supposed to be a gotcha moment for America it’s not gonna shock anyone. Racism doesn’t have much bearing on the Cowboys Dallas Star classic shirt But I will love this top presidents. This is known. Washington is basically the secular version of a patron deity of the US, he just can’t be touched. He gets put in the same “Untouchable Hero” category that Ataturk, Fredrick the Great, Charlemagne, William of Orange, Mannerheim, etc. occupy in their respective countries. Wilson was (and kind of is) very highly ranked in the rankings. They typically are written and presented to historians to focus on achievements and leadership. But, in the last 5-10 years is when we’ve really started to discuss Wilson’s legacy, particularly around race, and in turn his “worst” rankings have all come in the last 5 surveys. In the 2002 Siena survey he was #6 alongside Washington and Jefferson above him and Truman and Monroe below him. In the 2022 Siena survey he was now #13 edged out by Monroe and Obama and just ahead of Clinton and Polk.
